Not quite, but my Christmas tree is really so tiny and I’m still using it (pictured below) despite the size. I do not know if you can actually call this a tree. Well they are literally small yet it is still a tree. A tabletop tree perhaps?
I’m a big kid at heart. I love Christmas, and I do love to put up Xmas decorations. But as I grow older, I never really put a Christmas tree anymore, instead I’d usually decorate my loft with ornaments to make it look like ’tis-the-season-to-be-jolly’ kind of atmosphere. Really. As much as I’d like the idea of erecting the real or an artificial tree – because it is less expensive – apparently, I had no more room left for it.
Only if we were rich, putting up a flamboyant tree could have been so much fun and exciting, just that nowadays, it is not as elaborate as when I was only a kid. We never had a nice tree back then, usually we make Christmas tree out of bubble soap and a cardboard because we can’t afford to buy one – we called it a Bubble Tree.
Ideally, Christmas will always be and nothing more than just a family reunion even though there’s no winter snow, no swaying pine trees coif the Christmas party mood, yet Christmas in Philippines is just so alive and it’s celebrated with utmost passion and love.
And of course a sock full of goodies. I remember the part where we would wake up early on Christmas day just to see if our socks was filled with goodies by the Santa Claus (I knew it, Mom, it was you!). If you were good, you will find candies, chocolates or even a small presents like a water-gun. Yes, a water gun was the most expensive gift I had ever received.

Now that I’ve grown a little taller, single, alone, old and still small, I haven’t put up a nice Christmas tree in the past few years. It is just me anyways, so I can’t see the point really of all the work to put it up and take it down, just for myself, innit?
Anyways, here’s a chinese joke about Christmas. Ok, just because it’s Christmas, please laugh.
One beautiful December evening Huan Cho and his girlfriend Jung Lee were sitting by the side of the ocean. There was a romantic full moon, and Huan Cho said, “Hey baby, let’s play Weeweechu.”
“Oh no, not now. Lets just look at the moon”, said Jung Lee.
“Oh, c’mon baby, let’s you and I play Weeweechu. I love you and it’s the perfect time,” Huan Cho Begged.
“But I had rather just hold your hand and watch the moon.”
“Please Jung Lee, just once… play Weeweechu with me.”
Jung Lee looked at Huan Chi and said, “OK, we’ll play Weeweechu.”
Huan Cho grabbed his guitar and they both sang…
“Weeweechu a Merry Christmas, Weeweechu a Merry Christmas, Weeweechu a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year.”
Whoops Kenks, almost forgot – I refused to play along with this tag but I made a promise to just write an entry and share what a 3 inches Xmas tree would look like. Anyways, Merry Christmas!

tol di nakukuha sa laki ng christmas tree yun. It’s how you appreciate the spirit of christmas. Kumbaga parang kahit maliit yung gift mo sa isang tao, kung naappreciate nya yun ayos na! GOD APPRECIATE you that’s for sure.. and btw I love your christmas tree so much. Gusto ko din nyan sa kwarto ko. :)

Hi Jen, that’s true. Honestly I never really celebrate Christmas here in HK, I mean I do, but for me it is the most depressing time of the year, kahit na andito yung iba kong kapatid, iba pa rin sa Pinas when it comes to Xmas holiday.
I guess there are a lot of ways to express the yule, not just about putting Xmas tree and gift giving for the sake of Xmas, we should take advantage of living, loving, giving, caring – then everyday would be Christmas, diba?

Honestly, I can feel the Xmas in HK this time — in the mall, in the street, in the clothes of fashionistas (puro bago, kasi a mainland chinese tourist bought a shoes from Gucci and took his old shoes off and wore the new one right away, imagine?). I was wondering, economic depression? No way, everyone’s having a treat everywhere. I’m gonna celebrate it this time, for reals!

Naku Cheh it was tempting talaga to buy the real tree, meron ding tiny weeny kaso sobrang super K sa mahal, dibale may battery lights naman yung tree ko, so considered it a Xmas tree. Hindi mo ba nahahalata maalikabok na ang mga ornaments ko? Fresh from the old box pa.

Kenks, parang pass-on naman talaga ang tradition ng nativity eh, so I think that’s a blessing for you and your family.
Ganda ba? Parang warak nga eh, nadala lang ng macro shots, kaya parang malaki-looking na sya.

Here lang in HK PM, always been, with the rest of my family (two brothers and their family) so it’s not really that “I’m feeling HOMESICK” and all.

I like that, using branches of pine.. if only my flat was bigger, I can decorate for more gagawin ko syang parang bukid sana.

I am sharing my blessings to you as well Asha. As long as I am healthy and happy, with or without a Xmas tree, I’m cool with it.
Have a joyous holiday back there in Singapore.

cute! that is the kind of tree that I want for my house because it is so time consuming taking to take a big box down from the attic, unload it, and put it up. one day is not enough. believe it or not, our tree was just put up yesterday by the kids, and still needing ornaments and lights, and today is a day before Christmas.
