The Monk’s Effect

Now that I have my internet connection, saka naman ako nawalan ng interest to write. I have watched A Very Special Love from crunchyroll and even signed up there.

My verdict of the movie was: Jologs pero OKAY LANG, cheesy, ang bilis, expected ang ending at sobrang drama ni John Llyod - na parang nagiging kamukha nya na si Aga Mulach – think, Lea Salonga’s “Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal”; funny na hindi pilit. Matet de Leon is still annoying to see on screen – sana hindi na lang sya lumaki. A typical movie, girl-got-a-crush to a handsome, rich guy – then boy-fell-in-love to the girl, a secretary, kind of story.

Since nakabili na ako ng USB multiple slot for my modem stick, mouse and iPhone, I decided to buy some foodies down the market. Sa tabi-tabi maraming Pinoy’s store. I thought, makabili nga ng de-lata, Argentina corned beef at meron na palang Sisig in can. I tried to dip it in suka with bawang, walang epek.

With cheese? Nakalagay sa foil? Masarap kaya to? Yuk pa rin. Ano bah, Pinoy ba ang gumawa neto? I crave for some Tita’s leche flan tuloy. I am so tamad kasi to cook. But why couldn’t I do this? In short, super lazybummer ako. I want my Yaya back.

At eight zero zero in the evening, I returned to my Apartment – corrections: we call it, “flat” – and stranded over at my couch and watched my iPhone, waiting, in the hopes na baka may tumawag and I would treat whoever-that-first-caller in a fancy restaurant and eat a relatively good for the palate. I went to leak and slipped my phone on my pocket. It rang, sa wakas! I slided the screen as I answered my first caller, “Hello, thanks God somebody called”. The caller replied back “Wei, wei, wei, ley hai ma….”. FECK, wrong number. Muntik pa syang mahulog sa inidoro. Naalala ko tuloy yung tabo ni Kengkay. What if, naghuhugas ako ng pwet at biglang nag ring sya, sasagutin mo ba?

Insomnia
originally uploaded by: Astragony

I stared at my window, at ramdam ko na ang winter – super chill. I decided to take a hot shower and dresses up and perhaps go on some window shopping. Eh biglang nag appear sa TV yung MONK – it’s an enjoyable series, the story is very simple yet the guy is funny (it is about a former San Francisco police detective suffering from an extreme case of obsessive-compulsive disorder). I’ve watched a little, it was about an “INSOMNIA” episode.

In the scene, Mr Monk couldn’t sleep after a mysterious woman in the street grabs his attention. Monk has never met the woman before, but she seems strangely familiar, and he feels compelled to chase her for two blocks before losing track of her. He couldn’t recall whether he saw her before. And because he couldn’t remember who she was, his partner insisted him to venture the night, to get some fresh air so that he could forget about it and just to make himself awake – take a shot of whisky, watch the aquarium from the bar across, so when all things done – he’d go home and go to bed – until he stumble upon a crime as he walks home. To make the story short, no one believes it was for real – they thought Mr Monk was only suffering from insomnia causing him to witness a crime which apparently didn’t occur. Later he found out that the crime was a trick about “the drug dealer” and “undercover cop” staged in a drug deal and shooting to make it look like the real killing. At the end, Mr Monk finally made it face-to-face with the woman he saw earlier and finally realizes what has been haunting him. His dead wife was an organ donor which the woman received his wife’s corneas. Mr Monk is overwhelmed with emotion. After being apart for years, he was able to look into her wife’s eyes once again.

I got teary eyed on that scene, so I decided to do the same way, walked out and headed to the mall to watch a movie instead. When I got there, I realized, the 10pm slot was so late to enjoy the popcorn all by myself, so I persuaded to leave the mall after deliberately thinking kung si BVLGARI ba or si Viktor & Rolf ang bibilhin ko or just traded it in for a meal, in which my mind said, pagkain na lang, busog pa dahil shower lang, mabango na naman ulet ako. As I walk home, I was as if doing a re-enactment of the Monk episodes but hoping I wouldn’t witnessed the same crime down the road before setting foot in my own Apartment. Now I’m still awake and couldn’t think whatelse to do.

I believe I am having an insomnia dahil sa mga nababasa kong blogs na puro tagalog lately, I got myself distracted by way of expressing my tagalog words into writing and if in case one day, I might as well venture into tagalog story-telling. What do you think? Behind me is a big bottle of Whisky. I am thinking should I drink it? I am not a whisky drinker but somehow, this might help me put to sleep. Pero, baka maging nightmare-ish lang, wag na!

So there you go, I finally come up with a story.

    Hello K!

I also watch Monk. I always laugh watching the show. Sometimes I’m annoyed because he’s so meticulous but I still keep on watching it. I also watch his opposite Colombo even if the episodes are old already. And I always have a laugh at the characters’ character. Ayayay… :)

Indeed, funny it didn’t made me fell asleep while watching it in my laptop. BTW, I should have linked your leche flan (need post editing) – it’s the same reason why I went there to buy some Pinoy foodies. :)

He is funny to me really. His character as MONK is somewhat relevant to myself in a way that I can relate to some of it like I also have this disorder of keeping things neat and tidy kahit okay na – yun ang takaw pansin sa character nya. Instincts.

napanood ko na yung A Very Special Love,I don’t like the ending kasi parang common na yun sa isang pinoy movie.Yung tipong magkakaroon ng problems between the loveteam or couple tapos sa huli magkaka-ayos na sila so nakakasawa din. What do you think? pero kakakilig yung tandem ni Sarah and John Lloyd *blush*

Hehehe MC, I think the movie was meant for DVD. I am not surprised however dahil it was Sarah’s launching so of course top grosser dahil she is popular for young generations.

May chemistry naman yung tandem nila, parang totoo silang mag dyowa diba?

Hehehe Dencio, kung may kaakbay na ako, it’s another (good) story, diba? So ndi naman sad totally – there are days that you love it, oftentimes you hate, most of the time you’re free, when you’re single you’re obligated na ata to get bored.

Heto ang punchline: Pero my pamily.. hahaha, my pamily for me is more important, hahahaha it was my pers time ever, hahaha, OMG’.

Andito naman ang mga pamangkins ko, mga hermanos ko, sa kabilang kalye, so if incase I’m lonely bored et al, ginugulo ko lang sila.

you can actually explain yourself much better in Tagalog/English. I haven’t watched Pinoy films in the longest time!

Ah I’ve seen that Monk episode. kakaaliw yung part about his wife’s eyes no? I find it so sweet!

I cooked bistek tagalog today. Come here. Kain tayo!

I thought so too, it happens all the time. We cannot trust these plugins any longer, can we?

Diba? Matet was better as a child actress, kasi she was cuter as long as na ndi sya nagsasalita it’s fine.

I watched it online Duke, in case dumaan ako ng WorldWide, saka lang ako bibili ng pirated pinoy VCD, hahaha. Did you know na Juday’s movie (Ploning) was included in the Foreign Film for Oscars category? Sana maka-sali sya. My SIL kasi gives me tips kung ano bago sa TV or sine, may cable sila eh.

BISTEK na may malalaking Onion slices? Sarap naman nyan. Gusto ko rin ng adobong pusit. Naku Duke, if I crave for Pinoys food, sa WorldWide o sa Cinta J mo ako mahahanap. Still remember?
