Put Your Records On

Corinne Bailey Rae

Three little birds, sat on my window.
And they told me I don’t need to worry.
Summer came like cinnamon
So sweet,
Little girls double-dutch on the concrete.

Maybe sometimes, we’ve got it wrong, but it’s alright
The more things seem to change, the more they stay the same
Oh, don’t you hesitate.

Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song
You go ahead, let your hair down
Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams,
Just go ahead, let your hair down.

You’re gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow.

Blue as the sky, sombre and lonely,
Sipping tea in the bar by the roadside,
(just relax, just relax)
Don’t you let those other boys fool you,
Got to love that afro hair do.

Maybe sometimes, we feel afraid, but it’s alright
The more you stay the same, the more they seem to change.
Don’t you think it’s strange?

Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song
You go ahead, let your hair down
Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams,
Just go ahead, let your hair down.

You’re gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow.

‘Twas more than I could take, pity for pity’s sake
Some nights kept me awake, I thought that I was stronger
When you gonna realise, that you don’t even have to try any longer?
Do what you want to.

Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song
You go ahead, let your hair down
Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams,
Just go ahead, let your hair down.

Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song
You go ahead, let your hair down
Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams,
Just go ahead, let your hair down.

Oh, you’re gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow

I am sorry Corinne, I made fun with your song. Just go ahead and shoot me!

Consuela, No, it was my twin singing this song, I swear it wasn’t me, hahaha. I’m ashamed to admit that it took me days to record this – I had to put some cotton balls on my throat to sound like I am being throttled.

Masel, click and upload lang but no SFX or whatever audio-quintessentials added – original voice lang talaga sya, naxx. Pero ang baduuuuyy diba? Di ata tayo mahilig sa Karaoke nun dito? Pero mas pabor ako sa sayawan na lang.

nice voice. is she really a singer? or just one of those online karaoke thing? BTW I tried the online karaoke that you referred, haha It was a disaster. I kept on changing it unti I decided to absolutely discard the whole saved file haha. It’s so weird hearing my own voice on a recording.. parang di ko boses haha o tone deaf lang talaga ako? LOL

you dance, too, K? i would love to learn ballroom dancing. i wouldn’t mind pairing with you if you don’t mind dancing with a taras…haha. nainspire pan-o ako ni Kristi Yamaguchi on Dancing with the Stars. she and Mark Ballas took the trophy.

actually K, you have a cool voice. have you ever thought of composing a song and singing it yourself.

Belle, I dance like a snake, hahaha. JOKES. Ballroom dancing is not to be taken for granted – you need a good D.I. to master the complicated steps – but for the fun of it, why not? Kathleen when she was a bit younger, I was 5 I think, laman ng “baranggay fiestahan” yan, nakakahiya minsan pinapasayaw nya ako as the “opening act”. Ang baduy!
