Modern Convenience

After quickly feeling distracted by some cool products I saw online, I’ve been wanting to channel myself out, in particular, to occupy my mind with something more therapeutic than feeling isolated inside my flat for days, is to buy a plant.

Yes, I want a plant.

It occurred to me though that keeping a plant indoor is never easy. Talking about maintenance job, from watering day in and day out, making sure it gets enough sunlight so you don’t have to kill someone’s life. For a minute I told myself, “I haven’t started doing it and yet I’m already complaining”. I know this is a simple distraction that I want to build in order to keep my mind sufficiently engaged on something outside of myself.

Then, Enter The Self Watering Pots.

GroBal

GroBa

GroBal
via GroBal a Karim Rashid design.

“The Grobal originated from an ambition to create a techno-organic base for nurturing life and cultivating growth. The digital age we live in no longer accepts the semantics of ancient craft and demands multi-sensorial experiences – any object we bring in our house should be an expression of our modern being and development. The iconic egg-like object functions as the foundation for new life – it is a material visualization of digital and sensual technology and nature synthesizing.”Karim Rashid

The best part here is that they makes houseplants stylish and easy to manage. So all you need to do is to check the water level indicator on the front of it that let’s you know when to refill or as needed – making it impossible to say an excuse that your plant died because you over or under water it. It’s pretty simple.

And I want green, blue and orange. Neato.

very stylish indeed. masaya din may halaman sa loob ng bahay. kaya lang yung juniper tree ko nanuyo na. tamada kasi ako magdilig din. hahaha! pero if plants like nyang nasa picture naman ang kukunin mo i think di naman yan kailangang diligan lagi. i have a bird’s nest sanseviera at buhay na buhay sya kahit matagal ko bago madiligan.

Dicey. too bad we can’t find these designs in Hong Kong. Why not order online? Well if you want stylish-coolish design, go to FrancFranc shop in Causeway Bay (2F Hang Lung Center, 2-20 Paterson St, Causeway Bay) or the one in Festival Walk (Shop G27, Festival Walk, 80 Tat Chee Avenue, Kowloon Tong) . A little pricey but they have quality items from bathroom to bedroom. Go na!

Dicey, as long as you’re not kuripot when it comes to eating properly. I have seen people carrying LV shopping bags and they end up eating at McDo – not that McDo is for cheap people like me, pero how come nagtitipid sila sa pagkain?

I wanna check on this item. The place I assumed that has a similar stuff like this, is in LC home shop in PP.

PS. Did you actually check the area near the The Pawn? The J.Senses (designs by OVO) Apartment is now operational. If you walk through the narrow Ship St, you can find a few restaurants and an al fresco dining at La Fauchon (3rd floor).

Ron, those plants can grow easily naman, but the pots alone is stylish, the cheap looking plant can look expensive.

But let say you buy one of these, plants still need watering, love and sunlight but at least these designs has inspired me to do something more sense with the world. Nax.

Hanne, I know that you love your office desk, you can actually have it filled with living green wonders. We don’t have much time on our hands, right? So these self watering pots will do the work.

    Are you moving?

Tita Grace, I think the it’s around US $25 (big) $15 (small), you can buy this via the GroBal site and they can ship them to you.

Aba, talagang you’re enjoying the life in Singapore ha?

hey k this is cool stuff. I recently bought some flower plants for my apartment coz it’s spring here and there are lots of beautiful and gorgeous flowers around. They are cheap too but so far 2 of them started to wither. Not sure if it’s me or just the end of it’s lifecyle. Anyway, the rest are still holding on. I got this square glass vase put some tiny pebbles around and the flower pot inside. They look great not as high tech as you have here though. Sana lang wag silang matuyo agad.

He,he… funny that you mention La Fauchon. We tried to go there after we went to the Pawn… but every table was taken. Pah! So we went to some other Japanese resto close by.

Aba Masel, you’re becoming like an Isay on the making na dyan ah? I kinda miss this “plant hunting” in Kowloon, the flower market. I remembered me and Soy during her first few months, pinagbitbit nya ako ng halaman. Si Isay pinamigay yung mga halaman nya sa HK mansion nya sa Tin Hau that time, di man lang ako nabigyan.

San na kaya ang babaeng yun? Hinda na nagpaparamdam.

If you go there on the weekend, you’ll be stucked at the Mexican Pizza on the ground floor, we had spag and veggie salad, it was OK, a bit pricey but cool place. Besides, their ice lemon tea’s refillable, me like.

We peek-a-boo lang that time at La Fauch, the people were red-wining under the umbrella.

I will be checking that this Sunday, I got the feeling I will be at TST harbour deck shops to find that pot for you. If not, online purchase mo na lang.
