Designs, Something Cool, Thoughts

For the love of chairs

April 21, 08

I don’t know why everytime I walk around shopping malls, I would always pick magazine freebies that I’d kept in my bag but never got around to looking through it and left me wondering, “what the heck do I need this for?” And again, I asked, “is it worth keeping old magazines?

Do you consider yourself a pack-rat? I do. I collect any kind of magazines for as long as I wanted, should you? I don’t mean this to have a negative connotation because it’s how I think of myself, but I kind of think of it as a pack-rat mentality. I love old stuff and it kills me to throw anything away.

Then I found this.

magazine stool
Magazine Stool via: uptoyoutoronto $37.00CAD

Turn old magazines and catalogs into extra seating around the home. Simply affix the cotton and nylon straps around a stacked bundle of catalogs or magazines. The perfect solution for turning unruly piles of reading material into extra seating is part recycling tool, part home organizer, part storage and part furniture.

If this was a paid post, I should have earned something for promoting this product, but I just thought, this idea must be so silly because really, why would someone want to keep an old magazines then eventually turned them into a reusable material such as a stool?

Genius!

Ron, be careful though if you’re wearing a white pant, that expensive brand of yours is potentially at risk to the newspaper ink.

This is a cute idea! :) Our magazines are starting to pile up and though I intend to use some of them for a scrapbook (which I have yet to start…hehe…), I’ll probably make better use of them with this technique. :)

Jayme, I laughed at first when I saw this. But you see, I “promote” recycling and this to me is a proper way of putting things into simple, art, yet functionable rather than dumped them into the bin. Very amusing concept huh?

If you love books, do you think you can use that too as a stool? Sayang naman.

Asteg diba? I have actually thrown dozen upon dozen of magazine before, now I’m starting to save it up again.

Wag lang tumulo yung pot sa magazine when you water the plants or else, mababasa.

Oh you liked it ba? Sleepless night doing this. Very easy lang, cut and paste script lang but it only works for wordpress. I left a link in your blog where to get the code for your Xanga template. Trial and error lang ginagawa ko.
