I dropped my iPhone
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
I dropped it on a hard surface and now it has a nasty scratch and it sucks because everytime I see that scratch it makes me mad.
The problem with iPhone is that the big screen is a glass, it’s a little heavy and it doesn’t have that “hole” for you to use a sling-strap and hang it on your neck. The back face is silver that makes it pretty much exposed to any surface depending on how you want to put it, so it could easily get scratched.
I should have kept it safe with the acrylic plastic cover but that’s just me. It’s no secret that I’m the type of person who takes very good care of my gadgets and while at times I might border on paranoia and in the end when I get bored with the device, in most cases, I can trade-in with a new cool gadget.
Thing is, it now has a very visible scratches. Do I still need a phone case just because I already dropped it? Can I exchange it for free?
But I am lucky and it didn’t actually die but even so, it will still work. Watch this.
Before you think that I’m being careless:
- I usually put my devices in cases (either acrylic or silicone) to protect them but it doesn’t give that “look” when it’s is covered. Besides, it’s a bit troublesome to put it in and out the case when you dial or answering calls. So bleeh, I dumped it.
- I always put my device alone in my pockets, no coins, keys or other items. I had a big agnes’ b nylon sports bag and I slipped it in the side pocket and I don’t for the life of me understand why I put it there in the first place. Bad bag!
- My pockets are clean of debris but it slipped when I took it off my jeans so “oppps, I dropped it”.
If you have an expensive phone, my advice is, you must have a case to protect it and that’s really easy to do with the wide range of styles, colors and materials available for your beautiful new smartphone. And never ever answer the phone if an UNKNOWN caller is repeatedly bugging you so that you don’t have to creep it out the case.

ako din i’m not really very careful with my gadgets. buti nga sa iyo scratches lang, ako nasisira talaga or worse nawawala! hehe. sabi nga ng hubby, kung hindi naka-attach yung ulo ko sa katawan ko malamang nagtutungo na kami sa lost and found.
eniwey, palitan mo na iphone mo, may gasgas na eh.

Meeya, yun nga eh scratches lang, if it didn’t work anymore, malamang BUY agad ng bago, hahaha. Pero this phone kasi is different from my previous (because I love anything Apple) that’s why I was so mad. Medyo, ok na ako ngayon, I said, give me 3 months and I am upgrading it to the 16GB version. I heard the 3G series for iPhone is coming, so that’s something to look forward to. Kaya, saka na ang palit, kesehodang may gasgas na, hehehe.
I bought mine in NYC, well a friend did it, I haven’t been there since 2002 or 2003, and I had to crack it, now I can’t buy screen protectors or cases because in Spain there is no iPhones on sale yet, so there are no accesories available. I’m waiting for another friend coming from NYC next week with the case I hope I can keep my gadget safe one week more

Inthesity, take good care of the glass face, but I believe it’s a scratch-proof. Right after the incident, I bought a silicone case so that it can at least ‘cover-up’ the scratches.
aack! sana pwede mo mapalitan noh? i hate that when it happens to my gadgets..
Naku same here. Sa US lang ata yung pwedeng palitan. I think the very common accident is dropping, slipping, and over excited from answering phone calls. This is a hand-touch screen so maybe I’d bame it on my pasmadong kamay, hehehe.
The title of your post made me cringe. Now I’m awake.

Dicey, life indeed is full of imperfections.
At least it still works! You must really feel terrible for dropping such a fragile gadget, lol.j/k! i know di mo naman sinasadya. Btw, did you take that video above?
Diane, no the video isn’t mine. I just thought, what if? I would have an excuse to buy a new one if it really is broken, but it was just a scratch, external damage lang, pwede pa.
ouch! buti na lang gumagana sya….pero i understand you got irritated syempre. Right, wait na lang a bit longer then upgrade, di ba?

Thess, glad you liked the postcard. Ohnoes, that was so long time ago but prolly the guys from the post office department thought it was a promotional shopping card.
major bummer talaga ang mga dents sa gadgets. pero as a seminarian, bawal sa amin ang cellphone. we’ve got this God-have-mercy unit which the community uses in common. i’d be glad to own a dented iPhone anytime!

Brother utoy, NO KIDDING? Perhaps a cellphone is associated with guns? Hahaha. But of course it’s annoying when a cellphone rang during the mass - it happened to me once, I forgot to turn it off and almost blustered the EFF word out of shock.
oops, I forgot. here’s something offtopic (which I won’t mind if you delete) thanks for viewing my humble blog. If you don’t mind, I’m adding you on my blogroll. God bless.
