Bamboo Lights

April 14, 08

Kenneth Cobonpue C-U-C-MeKenneth Cobonpue is launching a new line of lighting and accessories.

It’s the Kris Kross collection from Hive that features lighting and screens that are made up of bamboo twigs hand tied to a randomly welded metal frame.

‘My palette of materials consists of rattan, buri, kawayan and abaca. Each has their own texture, colour, smell and sound. You can bend, twist and weave them in endless ways. It is a feast of the senses to work with these.’ Kenneth Cobonpue

The Screen shades.

I immediately thought that I’ve seen one of these lamps on display at the Lane Crawford Home Store in Pacific Place that showcase selections of leading International brands. And the first name came to my mind was Isay - IF YOU ARE READING, HELLO!, I am sure you are going to love these lamps for your million-dollar mansion in Australia.

Duke, tell you what, his surname is pronounce as KUBO PHONE - if that makes any sense to you, hahaha. I actually like lamps hanging on the ceiling or anything like that. I once saw from IKEA where they us these plastic kitchen drainer (in diff rounded colors) that turned into lamps. Amazing idea.

Ris, a little tweak here and there. I am actually liking the header, trying to learn a bit of CSS and photoshop but the latter is never easy, so it’s just text fonts under an image. Thanks for the kind words, whatelse to do when you’re bored eh?

the lamps look cute, but they look so fragile. parang madaling mabasag or masira…pero good you can bend and twist naman pala.  =)

Diane, aren’t they beautiful? A Chinese proverb has it that it is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.

Oist grace bakit di mo like? Talk about creativity, he has the abundance of beautiful collections.

SM for IKEA? No shit? I know for the fact that IKEA is very affordable leading furniture brand around here but I don’t know, just when we buy furnitures in Pinas we don’t really brag about it eventhough we buy them from an expensive HOME shop. I think the IKEA brands knows their target market, as oppose to the size of flats here (as well as in Singapore), it is sometimes an aspiration to a lot of people that IKEA brand is always associated with ‘value for money’. It’s like, “Oh I just bought a vase from IKEA” and we always thought, “wow” on that kind of response to their brands.

Pero, expensive pa rin yung IKEA vs SM (IKEA). Do you usually buy furnitures in your Singapore Apartment ba?

ewan ko pero wala siyang dating sa kin … i guess different strokes for different folks :)

right now i have everything i need in the apartment … kaya di muna ako nag fu-furniture hoarding! hahahahahahah!
