Alone, but not lonely, originally uploaded by: elijah
Is it just me?
I know what they say people need people but I am happy when I’m alone with my thoughts. I find myself sometimes just staring into nowhere and just loving it.
As human beings, we all move towards to something which is familiar. It’s a natural instinct to seek out familiar things because we are comfortable with them – be they people, places, or things. Even with our feelings.
But why is that, that other people dares to be an expert in giving such advices, “oh, it’s never too late, you should find someone, meet someone, make plans whenever possible”. Sure, it’s tough to meet new people. A lot of us have anxiety about appearing in front of a stranger wearing only a smile.
How lonely can you be being alone?
I am very comfortable with who I am, my values, my morals, my sense of humor, my hobbies, etc. but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t times I get lonely wanting someone to touch, to laugh WITH, to work WITH to share life WITH. Sometimes, it is better to be your own companion rather that with a crowd. I enjoy these times that I am on my own. And I don’t think it’s the age thing. It has to do with how comfortable with yourself, and partially your upbringing and what you are used to.
My life can go in cycles, I might want to just sit in my room and listen to music one day. Another day I might absolutely need to get together with my friends or just to talk on the phone. We all need companionship sometimes, but sometimes we are in a place in our lives when we need a little solitude too.
Heck I don’t even need to close my own bathroom door when I’m alone. So, what’s wrong being single but comfortable?

Me, singing (and trying)

I like my wife.
I have a roommate now in Quebec, and I like him. We are both pretty quiet. We study a lot and watch reruns of Rome from time to time.

In college I did those - with cool buddies, good influentials except for the ‘grass’ hidden between the Physics book, hehehe.
Nah.
only you knows what you need. why bother yourself with what other people think? i guess all things come in our life in the right time. this makes us appreciate the gift more.

Ron, exactly. I always believed in the saying, “good things come to those who wait” because the promise of God is that God works in all things for the good… for us! Thanks for the thoughts.
Hi K! You said, “My life can go in cycles, I might want to just sit in my room and listen to music one day. Another day I might absolutely need to get together with my friends or just to talk on the phone. We all need companionship sometimes, but sometimes we are in a place in our lives when we need a little solitude too.”
I totally agree. Sometimes I’d rather be alone too, yung walang maingay na nanggugulo. Hindi naman loner, it’s just that it’s nice to have some time with yourself…listening to music and just reflecting on your life. It’s really nice to have friends to hang-out with sometimes, but not everyday. And just want to tell you not to worry about being alone for now, you’ll meet that someone someday…believe in destiny!
PS: Na-record ko na rin yung “In my life” na request mo! =)
btw, I can send you the minus-one of “in my life”…you want it???
“.. believe in destiny!”
Diane, fingers crossed, and hope for the better. I often believe when ask for something, we do not receive an answer right away. The fact is that someone out there above us listens all the time so you know, I am just waiting for that ’signs’.
Eventually, I enjoyed your In My Life version, care to give me the mp3 minus-one for that?
Sure, how do I send it? What’s your email? Just email me then I’ll know then I’ll send it to you.=)
Thanks, Diane. My email is knoizki dot yahoo dot com.
ako rin gusto kong magisa … ngaun nga yung kasama ko sa bahay na fren ko pinauuwi ko na sa kanila. na mimiss ko yung mag isa lang sa bahay wala kang iniintidi kundi ang sarili mo … and with that i mean in a unselfish way… wehehe

Wind, if only the hands could talk, diba? They are my companion at times. Hahahaha.
nothing really wrong with it, it’s just the people who aren’t comfortable with it have a problem. another blogger friend was ranting about almost the same thing.
you know how it is in pinoy cultures that elders keep asking if you have a bf/gf even if they already asked like 2 minutes ago. hehe. but i say, bahala sila.
…. “pinoy cultures that elders keep asking if you have a bf/gf even if they already asked like 2 minutes ago.
Hahaha, I noticed that too. Perhaps the questions literally explains, “send us an invitation sa kasal”. Kailangan lahat kasali, diba? Whatevs!
hi K! I can totally relate to that! I got my own apartment last month and it’s near my office, an outlet, the beach, golf course is my front yard and a few mins away from my brother’s house. Totally enjoying it! Although, I must admit having some to share all those things could be even better!
Masel, that reminds me, there’s this new outlet shopping mall near the Sunny Bay station (Disney) and I remembered your house with full of candles at South Horizons. Yes, the outlet at SH is still there, baka mapuntahan ko bukas naghahanap ako ng chinelas. Sama ka?
I think if you’re in HK living near the busy district, even if you live alone, you’d never feel like bored and alone, di na kailangan mag drive to buy your meal if you’re lazy to cook.
K, i enjoyed listening to your song, “In My Life.” It is very soothing. i envy you as i should have never stopped singing since i was a child. now, i feel as if my pipes are all clogged up
