So I was checking my fish tank the other day and realized I have actually neglected cleaning it for about two months now. It is as if covered with seaweeds turning the water looked so polluted. Since it’s only a tiny tank, when I first bought it, I had four little jellybeans-looking size fresh water fish (are these Mollies?) then I’d thought it can make an interesting pet. Apparently, one had died a few days later. I purchased a fish many times in the past and none would live longer than a week as there is no 100% sure-fire way of knowing whether the ones you’re buying is healthy or not. Perhaps they died because the tank was too small or just lazy doing the cleaning maintenance work.
An aquarium is probably considered lucky and it bring prosperity into the house – if it is properly positioned. Fish can also absorb negative chi, particularly the blackmole (blackmoor) variety, which are very sensitive. If you have blackmoles in your tank, and they die easily, check the water temperature, the aerator and the type of fish food. If all there are correct, but the fish are still dying, their death can then be considered as an indication that the house has negative energy.
I usually feed them morning and night with fish flakes depending on my mood. I thought, well they are fish, they can swim all they want and shouldn’t be bothered if they’d eaten or not, then if they’d die, I’d buy another. I’m just keeping it low maintenance and monitoring doesn’t need to be like once-a-week cleaning, unaware that they will not get really big. Who knows?
And look what I’ve found, there were at least three dozens of brood hiding under the plant. Am I lucky or what? The tank looks cleaner now, chopping off the live plant makes more room for the little swimmers. I’d say, a female fish had obviously gave birth to so many little goblins just few weeks, months maybe without cleaning the tank. I think they are very prolific.
Now that I have many, what shall I do? Do I need to buy a new bigger tank,
COOK them
or just let them breed until it gets very crowded? Those little ones are funny and cute to look at. I could very well tell that the Queen Molly is again pregnant because she’s much fuller and look bloated. There must have been a lot of small breeds died as I didn’t take notice while cleaning the tank. They will breed again soon, I’d hope.
Ahh, I need a net. Well, happy parenting to me.

So it was totally unexpected? Cool.
My goldfishies died out of pollution.. sigh, I neglected the tank for 2 weeks and they died on me. Felt really guilty afterwards.. so I tell myself not to get any unless I’m taking very good care.
I prefer my plants now. Tsk.
Happy parenting K.

Ron, isn’t it ironic? The not-cleaning-it helped in a way. I need to monitor them tho once in a while now since I’ve changed the water and chopped the plant off (where they breed), and they need to get used to the new cleaner tank. I’d think, the flakes I bought was the perfect one. If only fish could talk, they’d probably say, “thanks God for the cleaner air”.

Asha, they need a little pampering. Once you change the water, put a little salt in it to keep a sea-taste water. Buy any gold fish bowl that will give your fish plenty of space to swim, and the ability to hide as well. Are they big? Gold fish should be fed at least twice a day. And I was told by the pet store owner, to keep the water clean, you should empty half the tank out and refill it with aged water back to the 2/3 mark. That way your goldfish ‘think’ they are still swimming in the same aquarium.
BTW, I saw your flickr shots, you have a very nice bedroom. Is that where the kids play? I hope not.

wow, queen molly gave birth to little fish. did you give each fish a name? and can you name the little one after me? make sure you take care of them because i don’t want to disappear in that tank anytime soon. so my longevity will have to depend on you.
by the way, i received your postcard a week or so ago and i forgot to tell you. thank you sooo much K for the thought.

aren’t those goldfishes? either way, i hate fishies :) sorry ha, pero im really not fond of keeping fishes as pets. we used to have a small (a cute globe aquarium) and a big one (for big ones, which apparently, we didn’t even got around to buying).
all i can say is, then, nice camera. :)

Mollies are like that, they breed easily, plus they’re livebearers – no fish eggs here. Though on the pics they also look a lot like female swordtails.
I love fishes. I used to have 3 tanks. One for my live bearers, one for my cichlids and one for my fancy guppies (who looks like fairies).

Kofi, so these are Mollies? I called them, ‘teeny-bopper goldfish’, they are tiny and they don’t die quickly (not that I’d want them to), so now, I’m enjoying the ‘taking-care’ dahil dumami. I’ll get a bigger tank.
I’m thinking of getting an Iguana, a rabbit or lovebirds (but ugh, birds flu) and turning my flat into a mini-zoo.

Diane, I believe they breed during the winter months, when the water gets “chilly” a little bit. It serves as my “lullaby”, before I go to sleep, I would watch them in amazement then suddenly, you could hear me snore.

It took me several hours to capture a ‘perfect’ shot, ang hirap nilang pagsabihan na wag malikot, hahaha. Thanks.

Rho, diba? back in Bicol, we survived in fish alone, dilis, etc. My elders used to have this DRIED fish goods. My dad’s family was so popular that time in Bicol sa palengke. Imagine, our uniforms would smell like fish and kids at school would make fun of us. Those were the days.
And oh, I prefer fried dilis with kamatis and a little bit of vinegar, tapos naka-kamay at naka taas ang isang paa sa upuan.

Charles, your new theme suits your personality. I like the way you make use of the rotating header. Mind to give mine a lift one day? I have zero knowledge in making decent header.
