Now that the campaign for NO PLASTIC bags are getting tighter around every Hong Kong grocery stores, some people have even opted to Reuse shopping brand bags such as Chanel, Armani or the D&G’s which are the new HOT things in Hong Kong. Office people reuse these paper bags to put their lunch boxes, gym clothes or packing up sandwiches for a little picnic on the weekends. If these are true, I’d say Go Reuse!

The Sunkist Tutti-Frutti is a zip-up barrel shape bag in glossy pink. It will easily accommodate essentials for an overnight stay and has three zip pockets for valuables. Another bag that will get you noticed is the Sunkist Mixed fruit in acid green. All seams have been double stiched for durability.
Do these bags look familiar to you? They are called the Doy Bags.
Doy Bags are a range of bags, purses and accessories made from recycled juice packs - non-biodegradable foil and plastic packaging that would otherwise go into landfill sites and incinerators.
The juice packs come in a large number of fruity flavours, such as the ever popular Fruit-C and Jungle Juice ranges, which are mixed and matched to create a huge variety of colourful bags. There are Doy Bags made from recycled sauce packs from Banana Ketchup and Tomato Sauce bags. And for chocoholics we even have Choc-O bags!
Surprise! Surprise!
Doy Bags are made by our very own women’s cooperative in the Philippines. The large number of bags and household items that we produce every year prevents vast quantities of juice packs from being burnt, buried or simply littering the streets and waterways.
What’s the goal of producing these recycled bags?
We are working hard towards being as ‘green’ and environmentally friendly as possible, however there is also a major fair trade and livelihood creation dimension to Doy Bags which is very important to us. The more bags we can sell - even if this means sometimes shipping by air - the more disadvantaged women in the Philippines can be provided with a decent and sustainable livelihood. - Doy Bags
So yes, they are Made in The Philippines but since majority of these bags stock are transported to the UK, shipping to Hong Kong can now be arranged as well.
Ang galeng talaga ng mga Pinoys!
It’s really great that those things are being recycled! They will not decompose.
Happy New Year K!
OMG! You designed Stephanie’s album? Neat! It looks awesome.
KK aka Tina recommends you to read.. Outdoor Play
No KK, Steph’s a daughter of a kababayan-friend Belle (who’s also a blogger) from Catanduanes, she’s an American-Pinay (Bicolana at that) young girl who actually designed her own first launching album. So I’m kinda like promoting her CD on my sidebar.
kuya K, biruin mo napaganda pa nila yan. galing talaga ng pinoy. sino may sabi na walang pera sa basura no?

Blue, you’re making me feel reallly really old when you call me Kuya, hahaha.
Cute bags! but I do not think I’d buy one like that for me to use! I hate colors remember? hehe
Well Cheh, they might release a new recycled bag out of Alaska Milk sachet? They are all in “white”, too. Panis!
That’s cute and environment-friendly! I remember my friend told me that in Ireland, they don’t use plastic bags as well. I wonder if that idea’s ever gonna be adopted here in US. hmm..
Diane, as a matter of fact, HK is still so British even after the handover, so the idea was also adopted here, and I’d personally think was a nice thing to do. Our country, Pinas, is trying to brainstorm the public on how to minimize the use of the plastic bag. About time to give Mother Nature a favor, innit?
hi K! happy new year!!!
and re the bags, i believe those are more widely available abroad than here in the philippines mismo. you could only find those in a few stalls here and there and during bazaars…
but yeah, proudly philippine made and internationally admired!

Vina, WOW how have you been? Thought you left blogosphere because….
Well it’s the product of Pinoys, so we should promote it big time as well, diba. Kahit rattan products, hit pa rin dito.
oh yeah, i’ve seen these in Tiendesitas at Frontera Verde in C-5. they’re pretty economical talaga. thing is, it’s not as popular yet here. it’s not yet widely used, but if it’s making a name abroad, then ang galing!
Ris, maybe this is only for export, there’s no shop around here yet as you can actually buy them online. -
i once saw a similar bag na Hi-C orange ang design, cute di ba? its a good thing that HK is stepping up with the no plastics law. sana ganyan din sa pinas para naman mabasawan ang kalat dun hehe.
in fairness hah, gaganda ng bags. i wouldn’t mind carrying one
