it’s all about the taxis, billboards, sidewalks, cinemas, zebra lines, lights, sounds, people, skyscrapers and shopping malls.

Smell Me

Narciso RodriguezRight after reading Ron’s I’m Dreaming of A White Musk Christmas, I headed straight away to the mall to find my new perfume.

My first choice was Terre D’ Hermes Cologne, but as usual, when it comes to finding new scents, rarely simple fragrances can hold my attention or gain my affection over a time. And as usual, I’d deliberately provoke conflicts, “should I get this or that”? sort of discussion upon myself.

I usually buy new perfume over about six months really. I prefer perfumes that change their expression several times a day — perfumes that make a journey. The uncomplicated scents I do wear tend to be the classics made with rich ingredients of sandalwood, spices, incense or leather notes. I have owned several fragrances but the ones I have figuratively enjoyed was the perfume with my name written on it, literally a Zegna.

So I settled immediately by purchasing Narciso RodriguezFor Him. It is such a scent.

For Him is not a groundbreaking perfume, but it is nicely composed and a pleasant change from most recently released mainstream men’s fragrances. No, it doesn’t smell like a “department store” fragrance (think, DKNY fruity Apple scent). It seems like it will be a big seller over the holidays so I’d much rather smell For Him everywhere than the usual suspects, the CK’s and Issey Miyake’s.

I tested it on about a few hours after a delightful dinner with friends at Dan Ryan’s (thanks Bob & Soy) - and guess what, we ordered that Fetuccine Carbonara, so Ris is right, this food is simply palatable - and it lasted on my skin up until now, say more than five hours already? Its scent stays close to the body, such a pleasure to wear a fragrance that smells powerful, yet doesn’t overpower a room.

Of course I got free extras too: after emulsion (whatever the hell that is) and a small pack of a shower gel. And for ’spending out loud’, Hong Kong is truly a place to get your slice of the sweet life.

Aside: What do you think of this new theme? It’s from Recycled Research. This theme is an experiment. Not just in design, but in experimental methodology, sharing, and process.

Ris, yes we did, naki-hingi lang ako kasi I got curious. It was not bad really, it’s tastier with a garlic bread on the side …and ice tea.

Thanks Ate, ang hirap i-customized ng CSS. I found a few nice theme aside from this kaso, yung mga old entries ko naman doesn’t flow correctly, yung image size malaki so nag-o-overlap sa sidebars, yaan ko na lang muna ng ganito.

I think a credit card is meant for Corporate people, those who travel here and there to at least earn some Mileage points. Whereas using it in the restaurant or other purchases, how much do you get? I don’t even receive a free coupons from using these plastics for ages. But you know, if I can’t resist, I’d usually put a packing tape on the back of it so that I don’t need to spend it for something - oh wait a sec did I just spent it on my Narciso? [...]

Hahaha Belle, it’s a plugin, the more you leave comments, mas marami exposure. They have one for the ladies, obviously it’s called “For Her”. I’d bet your daugthers would love it kung gusto mo makihingi ka na lang sa kanila.

Meeya, for your hubby, try the Terre from Hermes. At work, my younger colleague thinks “you smell really old” with this Narciso and I was happy because I want people to see and think that I am older and smarter than being a childish.

like your new theme, k! and thanks for suggesting that journalist theme hah, will try that the next time; after the holidays siguro. speaking of narciso and terre of hermes, i haven’t seen them yet in malls. must be because i haven’t been in a mall for a while now, hehehehe. will try that scent when i see them. have you tried banana republic’s classic? it’s crisp and smells fresh, kaya sya ang gamit ko most of the time. you may want to try it, have a great week end!
