it’s all about the taxis, billboards, sidewalks, cinemas, zebra lines, lights, sounds, people, skyscrapers and shopping malls.

Room Service
Room Service, originally uploaded by: joshpelman

Imagine yourself on the phone. You checked-in the hotel in another country and no one speaks better English. You dialed Room Service and the conversation starts like this…

Room Service: “Morny, rune sore-brees” (Morning, room service).
You:Oh sorry, I thought I dialed room service.”
RS: “Rye. Rune sore-brees. Morny. Jewish to odor sunteen?” (Right. Room Service. Do you wish to order something?)
You: “Yes, I want to order something. This is room thirteen-oh-five. I want…”
RS: “Okay, torino-fie. Yes plea?” (Ok, 1305. Yes, please?)
You: “I’d like some bacon and eggs…”
RS: “Ow July then”? (Oh, do you like them?)
You: “What?”
RS: “Aches. July then? Pry, boy, pooch…?” (Alright, how do you like them? Fry, boiled, —..?)
You: “Oh, eggs! How do I like them? Sorry. Scrambled, please.”
RS: “Ow July thee baycome? Crease?” (Oh do you like bacon and crisp?)
You: “Crisp will be fine.”
RS: “Okay. An Santos”? (Ok, and toast?).
You: “Uh… I don’t know… I don’t think so.”
RS: “No? Judo one toes?” (No? Do you want toast?)
You: “Look, I really feel bad about this, but I just don’t know what judo-one-toes means. I’m sorry….”
RS: “Toes! Toes! Why Jew Don Juan toes? Oh bow eenlish mopping we bother?” (Toast! Toast! Why Jew Don Juan toes? How about english muffin?)
You: “English muffin! I’ve got it. Toast! You were saying toast! Fine. An English muffin will be fine.”
RS: “We bother”? (With butter?)
You:No. Just put the ‘bother’ on the side.”
RS: “Wad?” (What?)
You: “I’m sorry. I mean butter. Butter on the side.”
RS: “Copy”? (Coffee?)
You: “I feel terrible about this but…”
RS: “Copy, copy, tea, mill…..” (Coffee, coffee, tea, milk…)
You:Coffee!! Yes, coffee please. And that’s all”.
RS: (Repeating the order) “One minnie. Ass rune torino-fie, strangle-aches, crease baycome, tossy eenlish mopping we bother honey sigh, and copy. Rye?”
You: “Whatever you say.”
RS: “Okay. Tenjeberrymud”.
You: “Oh for crying out loud”!
RS: “Wad?”

You hanged up the phone: KA-BLAG!

lol. i remember back in my call center days, i was temporarily assigned to the singapore tech support hotline of toshiba. it’s really a bit hard to understand what they’re saying. good thing they’re really very polite. :)

Wow a tech support - that sounds pretty challenging job albeit hard and needs a lot of patience by simply talking/explaining to costumers what’s this or that.

I on the other hand, have difficulties to train someone who doesn’t speak much English. But well, sign-language is fun in a way, afterall.

Hahahahahahahaha… Oh my goodness K!

This is really hilarious. If I was laughing like crazy with the last entry, I was laughing more this time, with sound effects pa. Sumakit ulo at panga ko sa katatawa a. Ay naku, pag ako talaga yan, sigurado talagang wala akong maiintindihan. Susme…

Have a nice weekend!

Sofie, I’m sorry if it did make you laugh - how ironic if your butt prevented you to release the toxic gas out of your system? Remember, a hearty laughter can keep the heart attack away, innit? Hahaha.

Kup Krun Kup? I don’t know if I pronounced it correctly.

One time I had this conversation on the phone with a Sales Representative. she said, “Hello, I’d like to speak to Mr blank blank”. I replied, “yep it’s me, K, speaking”. Then she paused for a second, “No, it’s Mr…., are you”? I was like what the…. I said “its me”. And she went like, “your name is….” then I realized, I gave her my blog name ‘knoizki’ pala. Hahahaha.

Thess, take it easy - I know how you feel about your friend…. “life is sometimes not fair” some people normally would say. Remember what Grump once said, “life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you’re gonna get”. Think of salad days, ‘they were folly and fun - they were good, they were young.’

OMG Duke, I could almost hear you back here. The common things I do enjoy working with my fellow colleagues who doesn’t know much of English, is that I learn how to pick up words you don’t normally use, Gibberish.
