Seven, originally uploaded by: ‘Kit

I noticed that people these days are posting about “blogging”, how it affects us, how it becomes us, how it says about us. Malen is right, “we are what we blog”.

Then today, Ron gave me an assignment to write a few nice things originated from Chimeric Day Dreams - don’t we all love nice words of compliments? - about my seven bloggers who, despite and others all, continue to inspire me, who gives me joy with a cherry on top. I recalled, I started blogging a long long time ago largely to pass time and share experiences. Little did I know it would turn into a hobby.

For the record, this is now my 364th entry from Wordpress - there were a thousand more somewhere else that I had abandoned. If I am not busy, I would sit around and reread my posts. And I have accumulated a tremendous number of typos and grammatical errors here and there. But for me, that’s okay. I’m not the most anal person in the world. But it’s very much what I look for elsewhere. The flaw. The thought provoking. The good design. The witty ones. The shallows. The most determined. The brainy. The stylish. The unique. The fingerprint. The bastards.

There are a lot of YOU’s that inspires me. Since I was only given seven, I am not picking the best, rather I’m picking the ones that grows in me throughout this journey. Here they are.

1. As a wannabe blogger slash writer, I love sitting down to your blog. Reading them throughout. You inspired me to blog because you write as if I was walking down the street with no predetermined time or place, where to go enroute but you can always finish it up with “I’m glad you’re reading”. BTW, I will always love your selections in your lovely sidebars.

http://www.jomiwi.com/2. You “had me at hello” when I first read your blog. You used to live here and I remembered my first comment saying “Goodluck on your wedding”. From then on, I followed you through like every single day. You switched blog, you cut your hair, you talked about family. I liked your big froggy sunglasses and everytime I see a fashion size like that in a mall, it reminded me of you. You talked about TST, you talked about having a baby. You laughed at my jokes. Then suddenly, you are a MOM. You had a baby. And you still laugh at my jokes. Now you have a swollen feet and tired of people saying FAB. But you are indeed a FABULOUS person. Yes you are.

3. I can’t remember how I end up in your blog. I think I was searching for a music player. That sort of thing. When I first came in to your blog, I sort of screamed like “WOW, You have the most beautiful design I have ever seen”. Then it started with a simple “Hello” and few days later, you gave me an access to your radio blog. Conversation started in, it’s like we met at the Airport then talked about your tattoos. I’m not much at dinner parties or in groups but when I started listening to the music player that you let me borrowed, makes me feel like we just end up tossing a couple of red wines because you’re just so generous.

4. And the bestest bestest part of my blogging is that I always find You who sums it up - whatever it is - better than I ever could and rather than say “Hey I was thinking that” or “Gee I wish I had written that first”. I can now say thanks for writing that - saves me the bother.

5. Nothing else but Your FOOD. Those fish, the boat, those tanned-skin, those BIG white chef’s hat. Those sardines. Those table presentation. Your friendliness reminds me of a friend from here. I love her “paella” and I love your “fish and chips” even if I haven’t tasted a slice of bread, you had my mouth watering all the time. For the very first time last year, I had attempted to cook a fresh scallops - sprinkled them with dried garlic, a bit of salt & covered it with plastic wrap - when I put them on the microwave for fifteen (15) minutes, you said, “hindi tumigas”? I meant, 3 mins. What’s nice to say, cooking isn’t about just putting ingredients, you teached me how to be passionate with the use of a pan, prepare the table even when I eat alone. And just say hell to the wall and read my newspaper.

6. “SHARE”. That made me laugh. I was speaking of that McDonald Commercial with Ate Shawee and daughter Miel. For some reason, I am a fan of Mothers. Those who love kids, those who stand up and tell their toddlers, “Look baby, it’s not polite to stare at people”. Saying “I Love You” to your kids everyday is something that I didn’t really experienced when I was a little. Perhaps we don’t say it but I feel it inside our heart eventhough my parents don’t say it aloud. Human touch is something that you can’t give away easily to someone you love. And from then on, I like to link to many “Blogs About A Mother”. What I find You very unique is that, you blend your posts with Tagalog. I don’t know, I just think they are funny.

7. When I learned that You are from the same province, I was like, finally “may kakampi na ako sa blogging world”. You are a beautiful person, from inside and out. You inspired me about blogging that comes from the heart. Writing how to learn to amuse myself rather than to surprise my readers. You continue to set an example of a good Mother to your kids. You continue to help those people in need. You always find the time with healthy lifestyle. And you can cook the food the way Mom should do. Sometimes I think and say, “Can you adopt me”? If only I was your brother, I’d hug you for real and say, “pahiram naman ng bahay mo sa Island for a week, all free”.

And there are a lot of YOU’s to add but this meme is limited. I only have one word for everyone, if you say “PANIS” I would cry from laughing because that’s my favourite “expression”. That’s for You too.

So, I am passing the SEVEN to Duke, Cheh, Marni, Ris, Kengkay, Belle and Sardonicnell. Gantihan na ‘to ng todo.

Blossom DearieAlbum: Blossom Dearie | Song: Both Sides Now
Artist: Blossom Dearie - An extremely girly voice can sometimes mask her ability to swing and her ability to choose exceptional songs. Her arrangements are also recognizeable for leaving lots of space for the singer, which is a rare thing. She doesn’t take her self too seriously and has the ability to be quite moving. Read More.

I’ve read an article from the UWA Magazine Pelican saying blogging should be avoided because of it being the main representation of Generation Y, a generation obsessed with self-glorification and novelty. But I found out that the article was frankly quite biased towards the “main half” of the population fitting into the said/ranted upon demographic. So, should I update my Blogroll to K.Net?

Thanks Virgil, my concern is that, this is my personal blog, I can rant what I like, you’re right a blog is considered a personal diary - so it’ll remain popular. And thank you for updating the links.

I love this post, but I think number 8 is the lucky number for Chinese people, as the Olympics event will begin on 8/8/08, which the Chinese regard eight as a lucky number, and a triple eight compounds its value. But for me it’s number 7, I sometimes would have similar thoughts as you, thinking to myself as to how I end up reading some of the blogs that I read on a regular basis, like your blog…I was looking to see what a ‘Tag Cloud’ looks like. Lol

Kenks, no obligation there, if you can’t, okz lang pero I want to see you do this as well.

Ginger, I thought so too, 8 is considered a lucky number. When I picked my cellphone number, I got 9, 8 and another 9, and eversince, been using this for quite a long time now. Did you guess? You might be one of the “anonymous” there on my list.

  9. Wavatar Marni on 27.10.2007 at 13:06 Post reply

ayan! I actually finished the anonymous7 tag. Was running around from blog to blog reserving people. halos naubusan ako ng people to tag a. So I just tagged everyone in the universe na lang. haha. ;p

Marni’s last blog post…. More Than You’ll Ever Know

    1. Wavatar K on 27.10.2007 at 17:06 Post reply

Marni, Thank you. When I do this kind of tag, I’ don’t let it pass for days (kung medyo mahirap, set-aside or “forgotten” muna), so it won’t matter kung ano yung kalalabasan, I think I can do things simulataneously. I’d close my eyes and pick names on my blogroll in random. Next time ulet.
