Does blogging sucks?

Yes it does.

It does when we are sick or have writer’s block, blogging sucks. It’s like mental constipation. You know you gotta but you just can’t. I thought after fixing everything in this new domain, I would have dozens of things to write. Honestly, it looks like I am back to square one. Those plugins and themes out there are making me crazy. It’s been sleepless nights reading codes but even if I can’t understand these codes all about, I still read. Tried. Deleted. And trying again. It’s more fun than writing these days. How true that when you have your own host, the norms is that, you entirely want 80% of your precious time to try themes, plugins, style and architecture of your blog until you burnt out thinking, have I activated the whole widgets on the sidebars? Of course designs isn’t always everything.

I remember the times when I said that I blog because I want to practice my writing and not because I care too much with my sidebars, so whocares what my template looks like? Perhaps you’ve heard that “content is a king”. I believe so, yes. I categorized this blog as too personal – and it isn’t easy to write personal stuff after all. Even if you leave the personal stuff out, do you ever ask yourself if you have focused on a topic? It seems easy to point a blue ink and start writing, say things we want, but did we ever ask what our blog really all about? Lack of focus sometimes confuses readers. Even yourself.

I realized that blogging is about being passionate too. Picking a topic that you’re not passionate about is a mistake for two reasons. First, you cheat your readers. Second, you cheat yourself. Don’t deny yourself a topic you enjoy. If nothing comes to mind, think through it again. Or maybe you shouldn’t be blogging. Passion for a topic motivates you to give your best, and leads to successful blogs. Blogging is all about writing. I know that. If you are not a good writer, that’s fine. I guess as we blog, we’ll improve over time. But we MUST enjoy it. Seriously.

My problem is, my thoughts are blank these days. I feel the need of motivation and passion back to see it through. I know it’s too early to give up. First, my writing needs improvement. Although I hear, fairly frequently, how easy blogging is for me and I believe anyone can do it. I was browsing my old blog quite a number of times lately and found quite a number of posts that I feel so much prouder. I asked myself, “How the hell did I do that?” “Where did I get those ideas?”

I recalled a few times back at work when I was doing my training, I have instructed one of my staff to follow what I tell them to do. One had asked me on how to improve his English. My reply was simply, “just talk to me in English”. I mean, I am a pro in my own English. Maybe thats why when I speak, it is clear to me. I understand all the words I say but it’s not always easy to get the detail to flow as nice as I would like them to. But then again it’s not hard for me to interact with people who also understand English. So then he asked, “how come you can understand cantonese?” I am not hundred percent sure why, but I remember I started with the basic. I would write down a few words in an index card and repeat it several times until the words comes out easily. Of course, I asked what the word means.

I make mistakes. Sure. Why afraid to make mistakes? I learnt that making mistakes is human and that even people who speak fluent English make mistakes. But of course, reading a variety of materials such as headline news, editorials, magazines, and even a good blog does improve our English. Sometimes I would write down and look up words that I don’t know.

Then I said, “you should use Wordpress and start blogging”. And I laughed.

So here is the thing, I have two challenges for you.

1. Tell me what you think this blog is about
2. Ask your audience what they think your blog is about

Is this some kind of a me-me? Exactly.

Ur old blog is all bout latest designs and latest fashion trends. Noong nagswitch ka na dito sa domain mo, those designs na nasa picture ay naging designs into words na. creativity in words ka na dito. Medyo mahaba ang mga entries mo dito. Sa personal kong opinion, at first glance tinatamad ako na basahin pero as I started to read ur post, i won’t stop na until i finish reading it.

You always find something to write about. even if it’s about not being able to find something to write about. :) that’s why hanga ako sa yo. You put the “personal” in personal blogs.

teka.. mental block ba? gives me an idea. I’ve got a ton of backlogs on memes I’ve got to do. I’m gonna send them your way. *evil smile* haha.

Learning and understanding codes is more fun to me than writing. I mean I have better skills in PHP and CSS coding than writing. Ilang beses ko nang iniisip na tumigil sa pagbablog dahil tumitindi ang insecurities ko dito everytime mababasa ko ang mga posts mo and posts of other great bloggers.

Sabi ko sa sarili ko, i need to improve my writing skills as well as my ability to speak in Eng-eng-lish! Hehehehe. Then here i go. I think i really improve a lot! Blogging is not only a tool to meet other people and to express yourself but it’s a tool to equip yourself in learning and re-dicovering yourself. You know, what really caught my attention is your theme (1st), and your posts of course (2nd). The two most important ingredients of blogging, i think…

I try to blog more what I’m comfortable at, I think we should blog whatever we want but I avoid “debate” kind of conversation, The world is already complicated so why would I still add insanity in it right?

It happens to all of us. It’s important to do other things then come back to writing blogs. I find that the best posts come out that way.

Sometimes blogging can be a hassle for some people. I kind of consider my blog a form of work. I enjoy it a lot like most people. The writing is also peculiar, since I don’t reveal everything about myself, like I do in my personal writings.
