Singing in a piercing falsetto in my new home

October 19, 07

Living Room
Living Room, originally uploaded by Little Opal

I think it is never too late for giving a housewarming party. There are lots of people who waits until they are completely settled before having a party, so why not do it in my new blog?

It wasn’t in my entire plan to leave my old “Home”, it’s just that an unwanted gift arrived in my ‘doorstep’ from Germany and surprisingly, I got myself a semi-furnished ‘Apartment’. A major milestone in an individual’s life is moving into a new house, innit?

Ate Beng gave me the keys, then as I entered thru my living room (The Dashboard) for the very first time, I felt the good atmosphere already. It smells like ‘teen spirit’, really. I’m somewhat overwhelmed with gladness jumping for JOY. It is almost like a dream come true when you move into your own house, a feeling that cannot be expressed in words. While sitting in a cute bean bag (The URL name) stretching my arms and gazed around the ceiling, it makes me feel like as if I have owned equity like a real grown up. I ran to the the kitchen (The FTP server), the wooden floors are made from Germany as well - it was a bit huge for me though but the too many drawers and cabinets can actually hold up a dozen of little kitchenwares (The Files) and of course, I didn’t touch it for a while. I saw a sharp knife (Delete button) that sits immaculately but feeling afraid it would cut me to pieces. I promised myself NOT to ever ever touch it until I get used to it.

I opened the blinds (The Template) and seen two familiar cuddly toys (Kurbrick and Wordpress Classic) and hugged them for reals. I knew these guys before. They are like twins who usher your world into a new beginning. I touched it and laughed for awhile. I whispered to them by saying “everything right now is just a trial run” until I decided to finally move in. And which I did three days later. The movers (Export/Import) was quick and effecient.

It didn’t stop me dreaming for a moment. I noticed the walls (Wordpress version) are exclusively different from my old house (Wordpress.com). I found this little gadget that will eventually change the way things are, the huge plasma TV (Plugins) where Dolly (Hello Dolly plugin) is right there waving “Hello, strangers” to me. I clicked the remote control (Activate/Deactive) and voila, such a neat toy.

People believe that housewarming party is all about flaunting your new possessions. It actually gives you goodluck throughout the process. I have now my new favourite thing (The Widgets) that I love about , the Last.fm widget that shows off the music I played thru my iTunes. Everyone loves to show off a new house, innit? And what better way to do that than by throwing a housewarming party? Moving into an entirely new home is a very special occasion for me and the best way to share this proud moment is by giving everyone my personalized house warming gift. SingSnap have finally helped me create my first “singing gig” which I never really had the chance to “showcase” from my old ‘home’. The javascripts works like a gem. Click “play” to listen to my piercing falsetto.

Well to decorate a few in my new home, I’d like the idea of an earth-tone theme. I do not wish to go overboard with the decoration. Cluttered house is painful to the eye. Why not keep it simple? Although I like a particular color which I have seen from WebDesign site owned by Ms Hafner herself, but this Newspaperize theme by Justin Tadlock actually blends in to my old posts with photos. Although a bit frustrated when I found out that my music player didn’t actually work, it isn’t something to look forward to anyways. I know that the regulars know that I have just shifted and I am still in the position to decorate it with a much simplicity and browse-friendly home, it didn’t really matter.

I have actually ample a place for you to sit around, just click through the navigation top page so that you can get used to the set up. Once I re-arrange the chairs (The Links) strategically, you’ll never really get the feeling of being “lost” here.

I believe that each and every thing that wasn’t planned seriously to the minutest detail have now actually stands in front of me. And the best way to enjoy and savor this moment is by throwing a housewarming party. So enjoy your stay and Welcome to my new HOME.

To Ate Beng and to the rest of you, you ROCK my blogging world. Have a GREAT weekend everyone.

Duke, teka yan na nga ang “housewarming” - kulang lang plato saka sarado na ang Mang Ambo for kaldereta take out. Honestly, I’d never done housewarming from my previous flats. Isay makes a GOOD housewarming occassion. She cooks really good sinigang. Hahaha you heard it? How bad was it?

So you finally moved? And I can change the address in my address book now (blogroll)? Hmm, this template seems more cozy indeed… and very zen. Congrats to your new home.

“ilang ulit kong pinakinggan” Hahahaha, totoo ba to? Di ka ba nagsuka? I think part of the song was bad, nawala sa tono. Salamat Malen, next time I’ll sing “better”, kasi magaling talaga akong kumanta, sa CR nga lang. I actually recorded this around 3:00am, so parang “suppressed” yung pag kagawa. Cge, wag lang rock, di ko dig sa karaoke yun, oldies na lang.

2007-10-22 02:44:27

i tried to record a song but on play back all i heard was my voice. hahah. Naging acapella…i doesn’t like my headset, I guess. low end daw.

PS
STUCK ON YOU. The Girl Is MINE. I just can’t stop loving you. How can you mend a broken heart…plus many many more. Thanks! :)

Ms Malen, Parang unfair kung ako lang, You should record your singing as well. I’m actually using a hands-free mic on my Mac, no sound-blaster pro fx speakers/mic.

2007-10-23 04:14:11

[...] Knoizki in HK is a world class singer, I mean, world class professional. There’s Banana of UAE. Chuva, Nell, Trish and Diwa in the US of A. Nalen and Syana in Canada. Doc Joy and Kiko in the UK. Plus many nameless OFWs — I salute you all for the hard work, dedication, efforts in fostering good will, enhancing and promoting the image of the Filipinos as competent, responsible and dignified workers, as well as your contributions to the development of our country! Hi K, this is very nice, awww, you even sing for us :) . I’m so used to WP the free version that I think I’d be at a loss, but sometimes I feel that I need to break loose from that, and start using my domain as it’s intended for me to use, and not just masking over my current WP domain. Were you able to transfer everything without a problem, something for me to think about doing also.

Ginger, everything was SMOOTH, from your WP.com just go to your Manage in your Dashboard, click Export and download the FILE, save it on your computer. To import, go to your domain url Dashboard -> Manage and click Import, find the copy of the file you save earlier and that’s that. But, think it over before you decide. My only problems though was that, WP has special plugins that works easily well unlike the domain, fuguring out plugins and css are not that simple. Also, my own trackbacks doesn’t work anymore inside this enw url, so I’m keeping the old blog OPEN so links can be redirected here and there. It’s worth the try after all.

2007-10-20 02:01:28

Hi K, thanks…I might just stick with WP, I don’t know much about programming and my only concern is a full backup which I’ve not done, I only saved all my posts in words, but from your instruction it appears that I can do a full backup from WP, which I might never need, but just for comforting feeling…the best thing in life is still free for me. ;)

A lot of cool features you got here. I can read you from my Gmail Reader, no excuse here either. Have a nice weekend. :)

Redlan, I think this is the exact thoughts when I first started my serious blogging with the free Wordpress. I like kasi the idea of writing in random, what days went, and just too personal. Variety is easier to blog I think but at the end, it’s not always easy to blog many too personal things - nakakasawa na rin diba? So when I moved here, parang naiba yung “outlook” - I can’t even start a good comments or posts in terms of “what I like” in this blog. Dibale, whatever comes out, then I’ll share it. Thanks for the nice comments.

And oh, I forgot to add you (syempre you’re now one of my regulars”.
