The word “recycling” does not simply mean collecting garbage anymore. With the combination of new technology and innovative ideas, Hong Kong’s environmental industry has carried out successfully in recycling waste materials into high value usable materials. Like recently, the use of less plastic bag in most grocery stores have been already introduced. Fewer plastic bags means savings for the supermarket, and good news for the environment.

At work, they do encourage us to re-use every little piece of papers. Even the boss would argue about throwing a yellow-post it paper into the trashbins. And okay, I must admit that I am not always diligent about recycling. When I drain the last bit of my Coke from the can, my natural tendency is to toss the can into the trashbin.

My mother used to say, “mahilig kang magtapon, kahit yung kunting peanut butter sa garapon ay pwede pang kutsilyuhin at itapal sa pandesal” (you can still use a knife with one last scoop of the peanut butter into your bread). Ever wonder that the juice is worth all the squeeze? I remember one Sunday afternoon, a group of Pinoys were having “beer drinking” under a bridge, this local lady granny who collect empty cans would watch so close enough because she sell it somewhere just to feed her hungry mouth.

When I started going online, I did crazy stuff in the internet. I subscribes to many sites that gives me a laugh. Imagine how many of us pollutes the entire World Wide Web? Imagine how many times we post photos? Imagine how many of us blog every nanoseconds? Do you ever wonder how polluted the internet is with pornography? Imagine how many word counts your entry has so that search engines crawl into our sites? How many of us abuse the use of our sidebars with too many junks? How often do we use the “delete” button so that the rubbish goes into the right place, called “Trash”? Try deleting something unuseful in your machine, it’ll pretty much tells you, “Well, done”!

+ There is nothing like the combination of words retro and active to describe the activities of Danit and Yinnon Simhi, the couple operates under the name of Groovy.

When I was younger, people were not interested about recycling their rubbish. In HK, every other night, a rubbish collector in my flat would occasionally knock on my door telling me to separate my rubbish from papers and cans. It isn’t that I’ve had a huge pile of rubbish but I was never the “wiser” kind of guy because I was not even interested into recycling. How many clothes do we have? How often do we buy shoes even if we had a dozen more in our closet? Ok, that’s another thing, I’m not giving away anything from my closet - at least for now I’m not tired with my old pair of jeans.

Maybe sooner or later, even our ’shits’ can be recycle, we never know. Ask Jack Johnson. He sings his soul right fine with “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”. It’s simple, let’s have a little fun with recycling. Kick up your heels and smile. Drum your fingers enjoy the beat and then take action.

Sa eroplano, I thought about that too and never would I make poo-poo when I travel (sus, one and a half lang naman from HK to Pinas) kasi nakakatakot yung pag-pli-nush mo parang hinihigop sya na baka ikaw ay kasama. Ang bilis diba? My old folks in the province would tell me, na ang malunggay sa sementeryo ay sagana sa vitamins, alam mo kung bakit? Our remains is a a good fertilizer diba?

When I was a kid, nangungulekta ako ng bote (yung coke litro nun di pwede kasi may deposit kina Aling Nena) para ibenta at may pambili ako ng plastic ballon, hehehe. Ngayon puro na plastic recycled, minsan people just don’t care anymore kung itapon ba or recycle.

Kenks said, “hiwalay talaga ang basura dito, may pambabae may panlalaki”.

OK, Don´t use plastig bags any more, but do you really think that pornography is pornography rubbish?

Wavatar K» added these pithy words on: Oct 10, 2007

Meeya, I think we should learn to follow rules. Hehehe.

Inthesity, I think so. Everyday whenever I log-in to my blog, my Akismet spam caught around two dozens of pornography links (most of them are from Britney’s, I don’t know). When I was still on my WIndows XP, a dirty picture suddenly pops up to the screen when I am visiting a normal site. if not for these sites, I wouldn’t be caught watching it, hahaha. But I am an adult, I do know where and how to use it and remove it, of course.

Translate: Inthesity, pienso tan.

Methinks: ANG GALENG KO MAG SPANISH.

this is a great post! very sueful and informative.

Tama ka marami ang magagawa natin sa recycle. one of the towns here in iloilo, started to practice of non-use of plastic bags.

thanks for sharing informative ideas!

nice idea on the card holder. i think im going to try doing one. hehehe.

sorry, useful pala. sorry. it’s not sueful but useful

Redlan you set a good example there. It’s like people hate to exercise in a gym, two reasons, they can’t afford gym, 2nd they are lazy to go to the gym, pero if you look at other alternative, why not use the stairs (if you work in a 2nd floor), if you buy some stuff in a grocery store at medyo mabigat-bigat, say 12lbs each bag, pwede syang instant dumbells. What I am saying is, we can do anything productive if we really start doing it, if you start it, people will follow. Listen to the song “Imagine”, by John Lennon, there’s a message in there.

Ron, honestly, my Father has thousands of vynil records way way back, you know what I did? I threw them away. If you have an old Aretha Franklin and want to do these, I suggest, DON’T. Aretha Franklin? No way. But sure, just be careful with “cutting those slips-in”.

Redlan, oh don’t be silly, done that many times, issh okay.

thanks for sharing ur ideas. It’s serve as an eye-opener. It’s like mapaisip ka at sabihing oo nga no.

di ko ata nakayanan yung last part that our shit can be soon recycled. wehehe … naalala ko yung kain natin a mcdo .. walang straw day…

Wavatar K» added these pithy words on: Oct 10, 2007

Redlan, I dunno - there are days when my thoughts just wander, sometimes when I have something in mind, I post them right away, and if not - I find happiness by looking at beautiful photos in flickr, it inspires me and just fill in the void.

Wind, hahaha naalala mo pa. Yup, it’s done every week, “NO STRAW DAY”.

Wavatar chuvaness» added these pithy words on: Oct 10, 2007

…thousands of vinyl records and you threw them away…waaaahhh…SAYANG!!!!

they’re collector’s items these days. soem people are buying it here for like 1000P each…that could have been millions..sayang!

i think they do recycle human wastes now in bigger city like LA. although, they use it mostly for fertilizers on lawns and crops to feed animals….then who eats the animals? us, human. it is recycling, alright, huh?

our nearby lake where i live–the water is a recycled waste. it is a beautiful lake planted with all kinds of fish. it must be a good water because fish don’t thrive in polluted environment. in fact, i have eaten fish caught there before. i just didn’t think about the origin of the water while i was eating the crispy fried fish.

Wavatar Ginger» added these pithy words on: Oct 10, 2007

I recycle in real life, but I’ve never heard of Internet recycle, is there such thing?

Wavatar Ginger» added these pithy words on: Oct 10, 2007

And speaking of side bar, are those Ads on yours’? Just curious. :)

Wavatar K» added these pithy words on: Oct 10, 2007

Ms Chuva, are you serious? Well I threw them away because it was already ‘rusty’, damaged, too many scratched and I didn’t think it was still useful. I know, I know, if my Dad was still alive, I’d be dead first, kidding aside.

Belle said: “i think they do recycle human wastes now in bigger city like LA. although, they use it mostly for fertilizers on lawns and crops to feed animals….then who eats the animals? us, human. it is recycling, alright, huh?”

Y.U.C.K. now I’m feeling like a vegetarian na tuloy.

Ginger, See, I always put a series of photos on my blog from other people who have already posted it. I think that’s considered internet recycle. My sidebars are not sponsored from paying site, I don’t solicit payment from these links - it’s one of the TOS in our free wordpress. These Ads are not even driving traffics to my blog so they are just links, a site where I find designs I like and admire at the same time.
