what happened? too early or too late? :)

There is a sense of strange peacefulness in an empty mall. especially when it’s near or after closing hours. I remember my job before when we would be setting up for an exhibit the next day and I would get to spend the whole night at the mall, when it’s free from all the shoppers. You get to window shop at your own leisure, too.

Empty shopping centres are a little scary. But yours looks way better than mine. Mine doesn’t have blue lighting and the floor is not as shiny. Such a shame.

Meeya, it was late - and usually even if it is late, madami pa ring lumalakad sa mall considering this is one of the most popular here. I was there waiting for the rain to ’stop’. Wala akong payong eh? A quiet wednesday maybe?

Marni, during this time kasi, you’ll see the overnight cleaning guys maintaining the cyrstal-clear marbles, pero it’s as if deserted (biglang hinanap). What surprises me was it is suppose to be crowded dahil Chinese are celebrating the Golden Week holiday, siguro na out of cash na mga tao. Pero at least sana merong nag lalakad pauwi using the subway passing thru this mall.

Wendy, now that seems like the 1998 movie ‘Terror in the Mall’ where a desperate group of people were trapped in a deserted shopping mall during a flood. And since this mall is connected to few 5 star hotels, there is no way to even locked the glass gates or turned the lights off so I was just wondering where the people went?

At what time did you take this?

2007-10-03 10:33:49

Now that’s something you rarely see in Hong Kong. This reminds me of visiting Festival Walk early in the morning - it feels so empty and you can imagine zombies starting to jump out and chase you.

you wont see such here in the philippines…
at least during operating hours.

Range, around 11:30-ish, not really late. There were few people outside the glass gate waiting for the unexpected rain to stop. I mean I work around this area and there’s always a chance to bump into a few people during this time. Weird.

Dazed, Festival Walk is where you live ba? Never been to that mall, but even early in the morning, these malls are never empty, I thought nga there was a typhoon coming because the rain was parang signal #1 in Manila.

Ron, sa Pinas pa, as early as 4 oclock, puno na mga bus at jeepneys. Mas nakakatakot sa labas ng mall kesa sa loob, unless during peak hours, minsan you’ll see people waiting sa labas ng mga malls, diba? What time does the shops opens in Manila? Kasi dito mostly around 9:00 am.

Pao, not in HK - it’s a place to be yourself and pretend you’re a model but no one’s watching. hehehe.

Kofi, I always pay attention to what these designers think about the next window designs, I think Autumn/Winter will be something to look forward to - I had a short but nice sight-seeing counting how much would that jackets worth.

Chuva, Hello Kitty is not on this mall, E.V.E.R. If I find one, I’ll take a picture just for you.

Kenks, actually some kids like to play in this mall with their roller-shoes, I forgot the name, pero masarap nga magpadulas dyan. One time, I even tried this foldable bike from the Marathon Shop on sale at ang sarap bungu-in nung ZARA shop, hahaha.

i still miss Megamall back in PI…cuz malls over there are alive na alive. that mall looks so boring though i wonder if it gets really crowded in the holidays.

2007-10-05 14:52:40

SM Megamall is my favorite hangout as well. And I don’t think I would enjoy roaming around such kind of mall in the photographs without anybody into it except me. That’s pretty interesting observation captured through your lens. Very well done…

Diane, I love Mega - hugeeeeeeee and I go there to check or buy the local hip-brands. I am a fan of BENCH clothing.

Hi Dodong, camera-phone makes ‘photography’ much more interesting and easier on you at those moments you never expected so I took advantage of them. Isn’t it so much fun to make pictures with our cell phone and then instantly share them automatically with a bluetooth or something?

Thanks for visiting.
