Remembering being a kid

wonder kids

When we were kids, me and my brothers would do crazy things in the house. You know, those silly things that kids would normally do. Messing around each other, throwing of pillows, climbing the roof of your house, beating up each other until one cries from laughing eventhough it was too painful because, admit it, skinned knees are easier to fix than a broken hearts. Wasn’t it fun?

Here’s a video that I find a bit hilarious. I laughed so hard watching it. It actually revisits my life back when I was just a kid - as naughty as them. What I learned in this video is that, I’m not afraid of death; I just don’t want to be there when it happens.

Watch this. Mga batang ‘to sobrang pasaway.

What do you miss most when you were just a kid? And if you could be a kid again for a day, what would you like to do?

1. Cutting school just to hang out.
2. Not worrying bills to pay electric, water, phones, etc.
3. Being gross like playing on dirts, or poo in your pants?
4. Playing house with friends. Making life so easy like an ice-cream ice candy.
5. Buy magic balloons (plastic balloons) out of Mom’s coin purse.
6. Fly a kite on our roof.
7. Going to school asking for “baon” (provision - of money or food) from parents.
8. Scared of getting scolded if you break the house rules or you will wash the dishes.
9. Celebrating birthdays is the happiest day of your life.
10. Going to the barber shop is the most scariest place on earth. For me, anyways.
11. I miss being so naive.
12. No computers, TV, cellphones.
13. Endless school holidays.
14. Asking yourself “When I grow up, I want to be…”
15. .. and a lot more.

As I grow older, I realized I didn’t want to resign where I am right now. Life is so much better now as an adult but I can never forget, EVER being a kid is.

Oh, Wait. Some kiddo was assif trying to play tricks on me. I found an inbound link in my stats today that really really freaked me out. Does this person reading my blog thru a mirror? Wow, such a geek. It took me ages to find out how this person did it. Click here in reverse. And here bcak to the original. How bizarre!

Charles, I understand. I wish we could be “Peter Pan” that never grows old but thing is, no matter what, we will always have a kid in us. As long as you don’t feel obssessed as being Peter Pan or you will end up getting you chin, nose, lips, mouth fixed just like MJ. So just cheer up there and enjoy the ride.

Cheh, can you help me translate what they say in the video? I know they were making fun of the sleeping kid, may sinasabi sila I can’t understand. Patay diha mga tanan. Hahaha.

It’s funny how adults always say they want to be kids and how kids say they want to be adults.

I’m kind of in the transition of becoming an adult now. When you realise that you need a part-time job, that’s when you know you’re becoming an adult.

Weng, I think everyone can be a kid in any age. The fun in there is that it creates happiness in you. Simple things that we human always want in our life is how we can think, feel and act. Remember, if you tell any story to a child, they will believe you. They are humble, it is not just because they doesn’t know any better, they dream every single day. So what is stopping us adults? I remember someone asked me a joke, as to ‘why adult always ask kids what they want when they grow up’. My answer would be, so I could get ideas from them. We are meant to live and not to get old (ok, not the age).

‘Wind, I miss the part yung pinapagalitan kami, imbes na iiyak kami, tumatawa kami. We really didn’t take it seriously. I know parents would teach you the good ones not the bad. Syempre, kapag bata we are just having fun whatever we imagined. Ewan ko mga bata dito sa HK, they talk and act like an adult, they spoil them or being strict with their child so much that at the end, kapag lumaki na, matitigas na ang ulo. I believe it really depends on what you think is good for you and what is not.

Cheh, hahahaha gi-atay. Salamat sa translation. Natawa lang ako sa video dahil malimit akong pag-tripan nung bata pa ako. Even up to now, there was a time na natutulog ako sa staff locker namin, when I woke up muntik na akong lumagapak sa sahig, yung isang pinoy tinali ang shoelaces ng sapatis ko na di ko namamalayan. ASAR!

sabi nila i have a deprived childhood. i don’t even know how to ride a bike. but i miss going back to being a child, not worrying about anything, not worrying about paying any bills, not worrying about the future. but that’s part of life you grow up and you learn. kaya ok lang kahit i dont know how to ride a bike. =)

Diane, you don’t know how to ride a bike? What kind of bike? Motorbike, or Barbie’s bike? hahaha. At least you know how to drive a car. Honestly, I don’t know how to drive but I can walk faster. Thanks for doing the Music meme. Seriously, you were born a singer. You should go for the Idols next season. What do you think?

i have a lot of good memories as a kid, especially with family. i like to reminisce and exchange childhood memories with other adults. it’s cute to hear their stories.

The thing i miss most about childhood is the innocence and being carefree.

btw, that video is hilarious!

Wavatar K» added these pithy words on: Aug 10, 2007

Hi Rho, I was crying from laughing. Oh Poor boy.

I love to listen to our parents about how they met in particular before they get married and have us, kids. I think that story-telling about the experiences we had in the past, makes us more smarter, humble and extremely proud in a childlike way.

Hi K, it’s amusing to read your post because I wrote a post on ‘I want to be a kid again’ back in January 2007. What I miss the most was to be able to play all day long and not having to worry about any bills or responsibility, that’s the good old days, life was so carefree.

Wavatar duke» added these pithy words on: Aug 10, 2007

I’ve been having a trip down memory lane recently on my childhood. I dunno why. I miss being a kid!

btw, I also bought plastic balloons when I was young. I also played that parachute game on game and watch! lol

Ginger, I agreee - tru-dats (that’s true)!

Duke, the one I pretty much like was the Game & Watch “chicken laying eggs”. Diba ang hirap nun pero nakakatuwa. Eh yung snake?
