it’s all about the taxis, billboards, sidewalks, cinemas, zebra lines, lights, sounds, people, skyscrapers and shopping malls.

Isn’t that silly?

Everytime I walk for a quick burger, and before I ever set my foot on the big M, there are always things around to see and preferrably buy (to make it sound more amusing). I think it’s a disease that sometimes I cannot stop spending my money unwisely. I need to have a good self-discipline and a strong self-control for buying anything I don’t want. I often thought that a will-power is such a terrible thing.

When I was young (as opposed, I refer to it as now, ok youngish), I have the habit of buying things such as mugs, soup bowls or a set of utensils. Like this one. I usually visit the IKEA to buy kitchen stuff or the G.O.D. just to look on their new furnitures, even if I don’t buy one, the looking makes it more enjoyable.

On the background: How To Save A Life by The Fray.

I’ve been dreaming about a house. A big one near the shore. I wanted a style that will practically complemented the view with a feel of just being comfortable. I would probably buy lots of wooden black and white frames and hang them on the wall of a living room with prints of various Hong Kong scenes. For me, my favourite zones of the house would probably be the sitting room or a balcony. On a clear sunny day, I can just sit there watching boats travelling through the Island - in this case I want a house in my native province.

End of background.

And before I knew it, I already got a small shopping bag on my way out. I bought 3 pairs of ‘tri-colored’ briefs (picture above) with DELAY NO MORE logo in it that the name suggests I should take it right away. I suppose this brief is one of the silliest thing to wear. I was even smiling up to my nose when I left the store. It would sound like a great topic for a piece of investigative journalism, “is he wearing a panty?”

But whatever it is, oh no, isn’t it exciting?

Now I want to ask you, do you think the best thing to do is probably just leave my money at home and only take the amount I need for where I am going?

I might be needing a good friend to stop me from buying some silly things. Save me!

Hola! I think you can order online for any products if you’re living outside HK. Their clothing line is quite new considering the shop only sells home furnitures and other ‘cuteness’, it becomes very popular for young spenders (including myself, hahaha).

You are so silly ‘ma-noy’ K, you obviously wouldn’t need to recycle your underwear anytime soon, and looks like you got plenty. I think it’s city living that you can’t help yourself, I used to be like you (see I use the word “used to”) Since I moved here, I have to drive to get to places, I just refuse to go to the mall to shop if I don’t have anything specific in mind that I need. This is a very funny post, thanks for showing us your future underwear. :P

I think the underwear is not available on line. I usualy buy briefs in H&M when they have those whith Marbel superheroes, are cheap and fun

Ginger, people here wants to be seen and be seen, speaking of “what brand you’re wearing” - this city is so influential that everybody who knows how to wear one adds glitz to the glamour that often surrounds the city’s social life. But I’ll leave them to rich people. I think it’s fun to live here if you know exactly what you’re wearing.

Inthesity, oh Superman! I saw that, it was on sale. I didn’t buy because the double XL size were the only ones left. You can actually order online from G.O.D. right here.

I always bring extra money just in case of emergencies… and no, not shopping emergencies. :P
Honestly, everytime you want to buy something, think to yourself if you will need it in the future. I sometimes do impulse buys and later regret it for spending money on it.

Since Hong Kong is the shopping capital of Asia, I think that shopping is one activity that’s inevitable. Heck, shopping is a weekly activity for me since 2005. Hahaha. And besides, the stuff at GOD rock!

So I suggest you bring your money and go for it. Knowing HK, what you see today may already be sold tomorrow. Hahaha.

Weng, it’s so true. One time, I bought a shirt from Zara and because it was on sale, I took 2. When I tried them on the fitting room, I said to myself “looking good” but when I put them on again as arrived home, I was like, “shirts again?”. Rats.

Dazed, I will agree on that too. Zara was on sale the other day, and now, “Window Dressing”, meaning Autumn na? Hahahah, since 2005? Manipis yan, I started spending my hard-earned money since “Levis” days, you know those “flare-boot cut” levis that I couldn’t even imagine I worn them. Pero teka lang, I don’t think you’re the right person to ask, hahaha.

I’ll be the wrong person to ask when it comes to shopping. Can’t resist it either. Here I have to go to the mall, in HK shops are just outside your door steps, either at home or office. Oh well, it would take a lot of self control… I think we have to buy that too ha ha ha!

People all over Asia love shopping, it’s one thing I’ve noticed.

The nightmarkets are also something that I have never experienced before in Canada.

Masel, wag ka ng humirit. Alam ko ang anino mo “dressing room ni KooKai”. Hahaha. Jokes. Naaalala kita syempre since Zara is just beside KooKai, your favourite store. Wala kang weekend na walang bitbit diba? I think the price of one outfit there is between HK$700 and 1,300 dollars. Dibale kaya mo naman kahit allowance ko na yan on food for 1 week.

Range, I think a lot of spenders come from the Mainland to shop in Hong Kong, as the styles available here are more focused on the wealthy (makes me wonder, why there are too many rich people from China). But if you’re wise enough, Hong Kong is the ‘copycat’ city, and if you don’t insist on the real thing you can get very good imitations at much lower prices. Then again, that’s another story.

Duke, meaning “If it’s open, Dive in”? Truthfully, it’s for people who are a procrastinator or maybe you’re right what’s on your mind. Hahaha. ‘ndi, mura lang, so ok lang yan.

Charles, H&M I think but not sure. Hey, thanks for the mention about giving some “love” on my blog. Hope you are feeling better despite the ‘ruined holiday’.

Renny, thanks for visiting.

cute underwear! the thing is no one can see it, just like those expensive bras and undies. hehehe. i used to love shopping and would buy anything that fancied me, mostly cute dresses. but now, since i gained pounds, i don’t have that urge anymore to go shopping rather frequently. i just re-wear my old clothes and i am fine with that.

you mentioned about building a house in the province, well, that should help you cutting down of your shopping. what do you think?

Wavatar K» added these pithy words on: Jul 25, 2007

Belle, hahaha exactomento - no one can see it unless you are stripping in the locker and the guys would make fun of it. But since HK is so metrosexual, I am not worried. Besides some of the guys in our locker thinks if you’re wearing a trendy-clothing (or undergarments), they considered you as “handsome or beautiful”. So hindi ka pipintasan which is a cool thing.
