GOSHDARNIT!
That’s my new petpeevey word for the day!
Wordpress.com gave me a bit of frowning-of-a-face lately. It seems like server problems has been occurring this past few days. The fact is that, eventhough this is a free blog, I still have the right to whine about it, right? Right! It is simply annoying.
Or is it just me? Apparently not.
Technically, they called this a 503 error, nominally known as a generic error message delivered by a web server when something “behind the scenes” has failed. Whatever. My browser remained to be functioning but to some extent, Wordpress forced me to re-start, clear the cache of my Safari and even shutdown the whole Mac because it can only at least respond with a message that says like this:
Click it! Click it!
Isn’t that message a little funny?
Hopefully, it looks like everything is back to normal (finger-crossing) and since there’s nothing else much to do, here are some songs that YOU can download for FREE. If you like them, grab it. Just click the music link and you will be redirected to the download page. These links will expire in 7 days from this day on. Let me know if there’s any broken links. Enjoy!

GOSHDARNIT! Sounds very familiar..lol. I don’t have much problem lately, but I did in the past and I was writing ghost story at the time, and thought my blog was haunted because viewers were able to view my draft, I think 9 times before I actually posted. I didn’t know how that happens.
They blame Matt for everything, I actually like him, and he’s very good in replying my problems.
Thanks for the music, I’ll come back for it later.
Nye, server are normally down during the weekends and you can never reach the staff on weekends. Doesn’t everyone needs a break at least once a week from blogging?
It’s not a biggie but I just noticed they used to have the generic message “server is temporarily unavailable, try again later” - and that sounded a bit frustating for someone who blogs esp during the weekend. They put a little humour in it so that user would not be scratching their heads once they see that message (for me, it didn’t actually worked!).
Hehe, I like that word. But who’s Matt? Why don’t you just change to blogger? A daring suggestion, isn’t it?
at least they attempted to put some humour in their 503 error message
Is Katharine McPhee the winner of American Idol? I haven’t been watching that show in a long time!
Dicey, hahaha thanks for the suggestions. I still have my old account at blogger and I don’t actually hate blogpsot at all. The reason I moved from there to wordpress was because, it’s easy to categorize my posts here and I love the functionality of the Wordpress Dashboard and the way they widgetized your sidebars - it a simple drag and click, you never really need to learn HTMLS. The downsides of wp.com is that, we can’t use javascripts or put textads like the Adsense (not into that anyways). Blogger however has upgraded to beta version and you can too, put tags or categorize your posts and even customized the entire blog using your own design. I’m now happy with wordpress. Free is limited but it’s not good enough. You can find Matt here.
Duke, she was the 2nd of last year’s AI Season 5. Taylor Hicks was the grand winner. I followed her thru the whole season, she killed that song by KT Tunstall, “Black Horse and The Cherry Tree”. I haven’t watch this year’s AI, pasilip silip lang, it actually bores me to death.
I also started out with blogspot because I’ve Gmail, which makes more sense, but one of my friends suggested that I use WordPress because that’s what they’re using, incase I needed help. I didn’t know a lot about blogging back in Nov’06, bought a domain name and was thinking about hosting the site myself, but I didn’t know how, and fumbled my way through the whole thing; ended up using WP server and absolutely love it, I think it’s a great community of bloggers. I mapped my domain name so that it looks like I’m hosting my own site because it doesn’t have the .wordpress.com at the end.
Dicey, may I suggest you switch to WordPress, I’m not sure if I’ll get some brownie points or K would since this is his blog.
I forgot to ask you, how do you get your music at the bottom of each post? Make sure you explain to me as if I’m 7 years old, and very ignorant of the subject, because I am, but it just looks so cool.
Nye, surprisingly, I made it here for a year or so already. So far I’m liking it and would never go back to blogger. It’s easy to post entries and there’s no need to refresh your browser to see if your comments has appeared or not.
I used to have my own domain, I only used it less than a year - can’t maintain paying quarterly fees. Besides, this blog is just my personal diary. I don’t sell stuff or anything to get revenues so I’d say ‘good things in life are free’.
As for the “music of the day”, man do you really want to know? I do it manually, the hardway. I copy images and search the artist name from towerrecords.com, look for the songs that currently playing on my iPod. If my wifi connection is up and running really fast, I also download my mp3’s to musicwebtown.com site and I use the sliding player code from wordpress. The tiny player icon is from iTunes, you can just grab the image file here.
Since you like reading books, why not use a “quote for the day” and put it at the end of your entries? Or maybe, a “Thai word for the day”? I’ve been thinking of doing that in case I lost my interest of putting a daily dose of music.
uy, we have something in common - houston
thanks for the songs, i’ll download the O’riordans ok?
this reminded me of the time when our host’s server was down. wala naman funny message na ganyan, but i did exhibit some withdrawal symptoms from not being able to blog for a while
Hehehe, all those “wifi connection is up and running really fast” sounds like you have to crank it manually, and start typing as fast as you can. It all sounds too complicated for me, I think I’ll pass. Thanks for the suggestion about quote or words of the day, I’ll think about it; I think I like the word of the day, I can do Thai or Lao wordings. Thanks, I’m not sure what’s a wifi connection, we’ve DSL connection here, and it’s really fast.
Meeya, the most common errors message I got is the “your connections has failed”, I hate that. It usually happens when I have all the words in the head to write - it simply is distracting.
Download all of them as fast as you can (it expires after 7 days), if my wifi is faster, I’ll add more - it’s easy that way.
Nye, thing is, I don’t use/write on a wordpad, save it and post later. I write directly on my dashboard (post page), continue saving the entry. I think it’s easy to just write it off the bat when your mind is working than putting it on a draft.
I probably need a broadband to save my spending on drinking not just one cup but more coffee in Starbucks.
