The other night, after watching the movie Borat on DVD, the not-really-so-hilarious as what the movie review claimed it is, movie of a Kazakstani reporter who travels from his home in Kazahkstan to the U.S., I was caught extremely overwhelmed by watching another movie, 28 Days Later on local TV. Nevermind the annoying commercial ads shown after ten minutes interval but the movie was about a powerful virus that was transmitted in a drop of blood that once infected, the virus locks into a permanent state of murderous rage. The movie was set in Britain and I must say it’s a bloody-good, gross, violence, suspense-thriller movie similar to those old zombie flicks, “Return Of The Living Dead” that I watch back in college.
Meanwhile, I got stuck in Pacific Place mall last night in the longest rain I’ve ever seen. I tried not to go off-roading with myself - well it isn’t fun anymore to just get wet unlike the old days, so needless to say, 3 hours later I decided to watch a movie. My last $100 dollar note in my wallet had a nice ride to see, surprisingly a sequel, 28 Weeks Later.
The title of the movie suggest that, 28 weeks later, ‘a new virus’ is back to kill more. And this time, it’s more deadly. My verdict? I like the first one better.
Since I am not good at writing movie reviews, here’s Rebecca Murray for Hollywood Movies Review.
Today, the weather has gotten progressively worse so I’m going to watch another DVD, The Departed.

Sometimes sequels tend to suck but still I wanted to see it. I agree that 28 days later is a good film and I find it quite scary too.
Charles, the only movies with sequels I haven’t considered watching (or maybe later) is the Harry Potter. Ugh, not a single one of them. Added to that is the Pirates of the Carribean - because we tend to compare each of the sequels from the first ones. The sequel of 28’s isn’t that bad - since any of the actors aren’t familiar to me, I didn’t actually complaint except for the end part. The ‘zombies’ next attack will be Paris (ok there’s another sequel coming next) like, literally.
hi tito k … i’ve not been in the net lately since i’m still trying to make normal our lives here! with all the unpacking, throwing, cleaning and what nots i couldnt find the time to write down the random thoughts i have!
well just wanted to say hallo! and continue on writing coz whenever i do have time i intentionally go through your post scripts … and still enjoying them!
MWah!
is 28 days later showing right now? if it is, we will watch it instead of shriek 3 that my daughter suggested we should watch.
we could use rain in this part of the world. we had three wild fires in the mountains just recently and smoke clouded all over our town, not good for our lungs. we need rain here so badly, but so far, there has been few drizzles only. send some of your rain this way.
GRACEEEEEEEEEEEEEE you know I play favorites in my blog and you’re one of them, hahaha (forgive me) because everytime you leave comments (not related to the post - PANIS!) makes me smile.
Just take your time, enjoy the Singapore-treats, with Bianca and Thomas and that Asian feeling of being at home away from home (or is it closer?). I understand, family first before blogging. Miss you (like crazy)? No. I miss your posts.
Belle, it’s 28 Weeks Later. Well you can rent 28 Days later on DVD but I don’t know if you and your kids prefer horror flicks. Cartoons and comedy movies, I do watch (or borrow DVD’s from my pamangkins). Since I enjoy horror-suspense movie’s, even the “Supernatural” on TV, di ko pinapalampas. Sometimes I’m tired watching detective stories like the CSI or Prison Break. I don’t know it’s fun (and funny at the same time) watching horror when I’m alone. I hate rain when in HK, you feel like you’re barred in a tiny flat and nothing else to do specially it rains during the weekends, that sucks right?
bicolano ka man? hehe… borat. my friend had been talking about it but im still not convinced (and not planning) to watch it. and i don’t like horror or suspense gross movies. i dream about them often after, and really bad nightmares so i stay away from that kind of movies. hheheh…
dai man ako nakaabot donsol (cancelled ksi), sa magallanes lang. halatun mo na lang bago kong post, download ko nguna su mga pics.
noh palan trabaho mo jan?
read about the matchbox homes. i remember seeing buildings from outside with clothes like that during our travel there and it simply reminded me of busy manila. oh well..
good luck with the move.
Andianka, iyu baga. I finished my college in Albay way way back, nasa HS ka pa lang siguro nun hehehe. I lived with my Auntie there, masyadong mahigpit kaya it reminded me of my late-lakwatsa at dumadaan ako sa bakod at inaakyat ko ang bintana to my room. I finished Nursing and I have witnessed ghosts in the laboratory, no kidding. There were several times that each of the students was assigned to examine a cadaver, I could sense the dead person was watching us. And I think, it was one of the reason why I started to watch horror movies such as Zombies. Pero, I’m scared at kabaong or looking at dead people. Nawala yun when my Dad died at nagpakita sya sa akin.
i’ve seen 28 days later and i liked it. my parents saw the sequel and they said it’s not good. too fast paced. lol. maybe because the movie is not designed for parents (as in older audiences). what do u think? should i see it? hehehe..
Yes it’s sort of like fast. The beginning in the new movie had me wondering a little bit. Why would there be people hiding in those town? Where did that kid come from? And so on… but well, you still have to watch. There was a scene there where I, honestly screamed “FOOOOOK” so loud that when I glanced at some people at the back, they too had the same reactions. I was thrilled, my heart was pounding so fast during the last scene.
I’m afraid of horror movie, but this one seems interesting, I might have to check it out.
Nye, you’ll enjoy it. It is not a supernatural, ghosts stories or something, but thinking about it, what if one day a virus (aren’t we all scared about the bird’s flu or something like 5 years ago, SARS in HK?) would attack the whole civilization, it’s going to be a chaos. The story actually resembles in today’s world. People kiling people. Bombings, War, etc… it’s scary in a way.
i was commenting on “matchox”, i didn’ realize i was in “28 days…”. not really my type of movie, i would rather watch movies to relax. the other day, i watched shrek 3.
Hi Sexymom, whoopps! I’m flexi, I can go watch a movie with kids, friends but sometimes I prefer going solo. ‘For Adults Only’ type of moviegoer lang ata ako, hahaha.
