Are those people who are always cold. Seriously.
Notice who has this quality, it’s usually a woman - especially those who has a square face, mouth shut, doesn’t look straight into your eyes, walks past you like as if you weren’t there and who thinks everyone’s stares at her bum. C’mon get over it. There are other things that these people don’t do is to whine about it being ‘cold’.
People who comes to your desk and say “can you do me a favor”? Like do I have any other choice? If you can’t find a better way to ask politely, start saying, “do you mind if I can bother you for a minute”? But then again, don’t you think it’s not enough?
People who likes to ask you, “is it your day off”? Like why would I be in the mall having my window shopping wearing a pair of shorts and slippers? Is that how you greet someone without an office name badge? Leave me alone.
Those sales staff at shopping malls who keeps tailing at you but never approach, “how may I help you”? No, you can’t help me now that I’m about to leave your shop. Where’s the service there?
Hong Kong old TV commercial about ‘wearing a seatbelt on a mini-buses’ which explains why there are many reckless drivers around this tiny city. Do not put the blame on the passengers who don’t follow these rules. Drivers should know that it’s not cheap to die in Hong Kong.
A commercial ads on FANCL (pronounce as FUNK-KEL?) products before the ‘FEATURE PRESENTATION’ starts in a cinema.
It is so annoying. Most Hong Kong women loves facial whitening products. They want to look like the Geishas, no wonder every Japanese culture has always been popular in Hong Kong.
There also has been an evident change in the perception of beauty among the Hong Kongers. Women nowadays are obsessed with the idea of being anorexic bone-protruding thin and pasty, chalky flour white. Are these whitening for Asians? Is it that classic ‘I want what you don’t have’ part of human nature? Many Asian complexions want to be fairer, and many with fair complexions go to a great deal of trouble to tan their skin darker. What’s the deal here? FANCL, stop it. Less is More, remember?
Cellphones hanging on your neck. Ok, everyone knows its the latest Nokia model. But dude, it looks so heavy to me. No wonder people here complaints too much about neck problems. Maybe I’m just jealous. No, I want a BLACKBERRY. It looks more professional. Forget it, I’m tired with these cellphone trends.
Calling hotline enquiries. Within 3 rings, it says, “Press #1 for english, Press #2 to talk to our costumers representative. So I figured, Press #2. “Wei, Ley Hai Mo Pon Tei..” or something like that. Bastard. I pressed #1. English, please. YA MO KAW CHOO!
Talking very loud on the cellphone in the bus. I could just point my lips towards the sign that says “Do Not Talk To The Driver Whilst The Bus Is In Motion”. ‘Nuff said.
My sister sending a text message. “CALL ASAP”. When I called, she’ll just say, “wala lang” (oh nothing!). Perhaps, I know what she meant by that. Checking on me? Or … oh wait, remittance. Hahaha.
Friends who finally reached me on the phone. “It’s always hard to reach you. Your phone is never on all the time”. Honey, I have work to do, I don’t hang my cellphone on the neck at work. Besides, I am not allowed. So why didn’t you leave a message on my voicemail? “I called to ask if you want to join us for lunch, our treat”. To which I replied, “Huu-what?, why didn’t you call the office?” Sayang (Dammit!).
And I am really, really annoyed when people tell me I shouldn’t let little things annoy me.
How many annoying people do you know?
Featured Song: Ordinary Day by: Dolores O’Riordan

from queer chef of course! heehhe! oh well, nakarelate ako dito sa entry mo. can’t help but laugh. i was just in hongkong last september. my very first overseas trip. and my eyebrow really raised upon reading that sign where the driver isn’t responsible for the passengers stupidity of not following the rules, and yes, they do drive really fast. i also noticed the roads there go on curves… not much (or was there any?) corners or angles eah? hehehe…
oh well… yeah… you shouldn’t let things annoy you that much. tatanda ka agad.
Andianka, HK is becoming like Singapore, “the rules” syndrome are everywhere. Currently smoking is banned in all indoors including bars, public areas and even the toilets (I caught one dude and didn’t report because I was smoking there too, hahaha. No. I just quit). HK can never be like New York, however this city is so unique that you either love it, hate it or live it. Mabalos for visiting.
“The Queer Chef pimped me here”.
Haha, I tend to agree with you about the annoying stuff. Don’t have much experience with Asian women whitening their faces, but the rest seems pretty familiar.
Piete, I find many Asian women nowadays prefer their skin to look “as is”, you know that ‘golden brown’ complexion. But in many other Asian countries (forgive me for saying these esp to some Filipinas out there hehehe), they still consider to having a whiter skin (as mostly women says) because it’s a symbol of feminity, sophistication and high social standards. What do you think? Thanks for the visit.
LOL. I looove your list and I totally agree with everything, except about chinese women wanting to be whiter than they are. Filipinas I’d understand cause most are brown skinned but women as white as ghosts wanting to be whiter? Now, that’s just hilarious!
“Women nowadays are obsessed with the idea of being anorexic bone-protruding thin and pasty, chalky flour white.”
Couldn’t agree more. Most guys I know prefer someone who has a little fat here and there because it’s normal.
Kaitlin, isn’t that obvious for Pinoy celebrities? Even for the guys, they also like whitnening na rin? Doesn’t James Yap (Kris A husband? hehehe Ok, I watch local gossips at youtube) likes to go there? Oh yes quite a lot of Chinese woman go for whitening. Parang it’s a requirement for them to have a porcelain skin when they’re already “white”. They say, if you have a whiter skin, in my opinion, they are the “typical” chinese women who doesn’t like to be branded as “international”. So you know, if you see a tanned-looking chinese women, more or less, they speak good english (hahaha, I just assumed). If you open their shelves, you’d probably see different products all for whitening skin. How do I know these? My Boss loves them.
Chrizane, I understand if you were born skinny (not the right word), or thin, I can accept that. But if you are already thin and still wants to look more boney-looking-thin, there’s something wrong there. What surprises me is that, I have seen a few Chinese women who eats like a pig but they still look SKINNY? How do they do that? Magic tummy? LOL.
BTW, I am not attacking skiny people, specifically the Chinese women out there, it’s just my obersvation.
K, you sound like a typical city slicker, after reading your post, the memory of the big apple just flash before my eyes, but yet I long to go back to big city (I guess I want what I don’t have, typical of me)
I totally agree with you that most ladies are not happy with their complexion and try to adjust the equilibrium that nature has given them. Most Asian lady that I know have nice tan complexion but some have the tendency to use whitening product to bleach their face, I certainly don’t see the beauty in that, I think I’d get freak out if I see them at night, might think that they’re ghost or something.
Sometimes I think people are the reflection of yourself, what if you smile (big smile)
to that “square face, mouth shut, doesn’t look straight into your eyes”, maybe she’ll surprise you, let me know if it works.
How many annoying people do you know?
ngehehehe….so many
p.s
would like to thank you wholeheartedly for the greetings and for that very meaningful music. (kailan nga ba ako magkaroon ng panahon para sa sarili ko?
Nye, I am (my friends can even testify to these) the most “friendly” animal in our planet. I smile too much (maybe that’s the reason why I’m annoyed at those who don’t smile back at me) or maybe because it’s in my genes (hehehe), it comes out naturally. I would even greet people or smile at them for no other reason.
And you know what, I don’t see that everyday here - people are stiff like as if they’re wearing this big ‘padded’ blouse on under their skinny shoulders. In short, a lot of unfriendly looking ghosts. I’m sorry to be mean but it’s how the way I see it.
Ate Beng, marami pa ako nyan. I can’t put any other words to even describe them. Eto pa, ayoko din ng makulit (isn’t makulit translates as annoying?) pero makulit din ako so I think I’ll consider myself one of the most annoying person na rin pero may lambing yun. Kapag marami ka kasing inaasikaso, nakakalimutan mo na sarili mo pero - good things comes to those who waits - or remember the old cliche’, “patience is a virtue”, I always follow this saying. And when you’re sad or lonely (or tired) I listen to emotional music because it helps me sort of ‘release’ all my tensions and worriness by recollecting old memories and after awhile, sa pagod mo, makakatulog ka ng mahimbing. You’re one of the great/strong woman I know in this blogosphere, you know that.
i sooooo remember someone always texting me, “call me!”
i broke up with him. hahaha~ done deal hu
Cell phones on necks… Yeah I saw that. My cell phone is in my pocket, it’s an old RZR that I got at a night market for $500HK. I go for the deals, because I can’t fathom paying $3000HK for a mobile phone, when a laptop is about $8600HK.
Hanne, you’re funny. Why not? If ever I broke up with someone, I’d still want to keep the friendship - as for your case, maybe there was no other intention naman siguro of the “call me” text. But wait a minute - if the “call me” is something (beyond my imagination), aba you should have sent him a reply saying “the subsrciber can not be reach at this moment”. Hahahaha.
Hi Range, as I reply to all the comments, I am actually right here at Starbucks cafe’ and I smiled after reading yours, because two Chinese guys in their suits sitting at the other couch both have their cellphones hanging in their neck. Weird. I guess I need to ignore the whole thing.
Honestly, I wouldn’t mind using a super cheap cellphone unless I’m wearing a very expensive watch while smoothing my hot caramel Machiatto.
Now, you wouldn’t wanna know. Hah, but if you insist.. yes, the bloody rules here. Plus the “gahmen”.. they annoy me even when they are not “annoying” me.
I better stop at that.. i wouldn’t wanna annoy you K. :p
Have fun, friday’s coming up.
“patulong naman K” does that sound annoying to you? hehehe. when i know that i exhaust all avenues and still can’t do it on my own, i will not hesitate to seek help. but that rarely happens.
also, i like my brown color and i will not use bleaching lotion in order that my skin will look whiter. after all, brown is also beautiful. di ba?
Asha, does eating gum really considered “bad” in Singapore? I mean, are all gums not allowed there? How about hanging clothes in a bamboo stick out of the windows? Hahaha I have seen a lot of “rules” here too. I just smile at them because one time I was on the tramcar, saw this sign near the window that reads, “do not spit”. Few minutes later, a typical old pop suddenly spit his ‘green-sticky-gross looking shit’ as he pftt it off the window - imagine someone sitting at the back of him as he do these, what will happen? So that gross little sucker was flown away on someone else’s face. It was super GROSS! I couldn’t even look at the woman’s face. She was screaming so loud, swearing with a fist becuase her face was covered with that eeky thing. Hahaha.
Belle, yung “patulong naman”, I am not annoyed eh kung talagang kailangan mo ng tulong, why not. Some people who do these only likes to bugs you because they don’t have nothing else to do. Some of our clients thinks that if you have that amount of money, they’ll take advantage of you in any way. Kung may extra bayad, why not? ‘I work hard for the money’.
Hahaha it reminds me of my elder sister who likes using this soap orange-color bar called HIYAS (ba yun?) or something like Papaya soap. Pampaputi daw so she said, she it works on the underarm daw and she wants it to look whiter than her face. Ngayon, makinis na ang mukha nya pero ganun pa rin yung kili-kili nya. Kayo talaga….
do I annoy you, K? I’ve always wanted to try those whitening lotion that claim to make one look and feel younger but then again, I also like to have that “tan” look. Maybe when I get older and my skin is all saggy and wrinkly…I can then try it…but then it may be too late (haha)
my gf was just telling me about this FANCL brand and how she likes it because it does not have perfume, preservative, sysntetic…etc and works well for her sensitive skin. I need to find me a good skin care regime to better take care of my dry and oily skin :[
btw, does sayang mean damnit?
when we say “sayang” in Malay…it’s like saying “Honey”, “Sweetheart”, (a term of endearment…)
Hi C, depends on how you want yourself to look at best but not overdoing it. What makes these commercial so annoying is that, why still make a product or something in order to have a whiter skin when they are already look so pale?
In the Philippines, I noticed that every 15 minutes, there’s always this different commercial ads about “Shampoos”. What is with these shampoos? But then again, we live in a new generation where everyone can look good or thinner or whiter. It’s not limited to girls alone, even the guys are into cosmetics (blame the Sex & The City, Queer Eye for Straight Guy soap operas?) where most of the young generation today wants to adhere into a certain charisma and sometimes it makes me think that the world will suffer from psychological disorders esp for these young kids who wants to look skinnier, have a six pack, pecs and dress well because they like to boost their sexual appeal and remain in “vogue”.
“Sayang” is a tagalog word that you can normally refer to as “whoops, dammit, or geezz”? LOL. I don’t know, it’s something related to “hit or miss”.
I used to be a fan of whitening products. But when I came to Norway I realised that being light tan is somewhat a thing to be envied about by some people here.
I get annoyed with people who always come up with different excuses.
This is a very good topic, don’t mind if I come back for second.
Yesterday, a lady at work really annoy me, she asked me to help her, so I explained the logic but she couldn’t follow, so she just threw her hands up in the air and said “I don’t understand what you’re trying to tell me!”, I actually spoke English, and she expected me to translate English to English, then I told her to just do it, I patiently walked her through step by step (at this time, I must have that annoying look on my face) and sure enough it came out. She thanks me, but the look on her face really annoys me. I get this a lot, I don’t understand people, can they not think for themselves.
You’re making it too easy for us to express our anger here K…Thanks.
Charles, l only use the cleansing products from Clinique Mens. Been using it for many years but I stopped using it a while back because it doesn’t help my skin look ‘better’. Besides, I can’t follow few simple rule, ‘wash, apply morning and night’. I realized I am not into products. Best way to treat skin is to have a good eating habit, enough rest, “DO NOT SMOKE” and be happy - I don’t mind having a wrinkles as long as they are “happy lines”, that’s perfect.
Nye, I hope this “annoying” things does not make me look bad for others or sounded rude for that matter. I’m not against anyone who chooses to have a white skin, fixing their nose or giving their boobs a lift or whatever but what I cannot tolerate are those people with bad attitude - it is something that some of us finds it difficult to change even just for a while. Don’t you think?
naku im just about to blog annoying things that filipinos are doing this days. tapusin ko lang yung entry tapos post ko na blog ko
I should not have left HK, that’s the only place where there are a lot of ’sexy’ people like me ha ha ha. dito ang tataba ng tao! it’s really annoying!
Air, hahaha some annoying Filipinos? Madami. Sa NAIA pala lang pag baba mo, malalaman mo na agad. Those people asking you to pay for the “travel tax” fee ek ek, I find it really annoying. Those people at the Domestic Airport who ripped my luggaged with a sharp cutter just because nakaayos ng maganda yung damit ko. And I was annoyed when they asked me kung bakit tatlo-tatlo daw dala kong pabango. Anak ng tipaklong, ano yun? Wala pang 9/11 nun ah? Onli-inda-pilipins lang talaga. Tsk.
Masel, hahahaha ms KooKai. Syempre excluded ka dahil you’re a petite girl, I don’t think you will fall in that category besides hindi ka naman nag diet ano? Pinanganak ka ng sexy, bek bek. If Jayne can read your comments sasabihin nun, sa lagay nya daw (well in HK, shes the XXL size) sa states, XS lang daw sya? Maniwala?
marami!!! especially people who borrow stuff then won’t give it back, worse even lose it! and people who are loud (in our hourse or library, usually) while im studying..isnt that annoying? anyway, thanks for tagging me in your “blogs that i read” section. i also tagged you sa site ko, nilagay ko “knoizki” hehhee..di ko kc alam name mo eh.
Diane, aray ko
isa na ako dun, “borrow stuff and return after a decade”. I only borrow naman DVD’s so ok lang siguro if I forgotten and return it on the next OSCAR’s award.
You’re welcome. Yeah Knoizki (pronounce as “noyski” with the silent “K”.) Been using this name since college. Someone gave it to me and I’m just keeping the promise so now been using this as my screen name.
Hi K, I don’t think that this ‘annoying’ thing is making you look bad, you only expressing what some of us might have thought, but didn’t dare say it out loud for fear of being judged. This is your personal space, you have the right to express your thoughts and feelings and people that come to visit your blog understand and can relate to you, I know I can. Comparing to other blogs that I’ve visited, I think you’re a nice person because you take the time to acknowledge your readers, and reply to their comments, not many people do that, I’ve been to blogs and made comments, they acted like I never exist, maybe because I didn’t attached my resume, photo, and references
Those unfriendly ghost, or stiff that you’re taking about, I think they have issues.lol, sad but true, I’ve known a few, and I have to work with them. (don’t tell anybody…shhh.)
K, I remember vividly my first ever job interview. The lady who interviewed me didn’t even look at me. She just continued doing whatever she was doing on her desk. She asking me questions but at the same time she was doing some paper work. KAINIS!
Nye, thanks for the kind words. Well I think, responding to every comments is addicting - or I may say, it’s part of how someone really called blog, a blog. Isn’t why we’re here to blog for others? If your comment box is open, that would mean you welcome any criticism (hell I prefer the good ones than the bad), ideas, fun and happy comments who visits/reads your blog. I usually come back to a blog who acknowledge your comments (even if it’s unecessarily) but importantly, you come back because you like to read their blogs and become friends to the author.
Duke, I know what was that about. It’s a question and answer interview (I forgot what it’s called). I had the same interview and I asked the interviewer, “so what do you think of my answers?” She replied, “I’ll call you in few days”. But asking quesyions and doing paper works at the same time would mean - “I don’t know why you’re here” answer. Hahahaha. Sana binigyan mo ng cruel look.
oh, i forgot to mention. you should add “drama queens” on your annoy list. these type of people just tick me off.
the whitening part, yep, metrosexuals get gay-er with their vanity over whitening products. and they get scarier too. LOL.
Hahaha drama queens? I like drama queens or people who make fun of themselves (it’s funny when they act that way, tho). All of us has these qualities. Esp how people who thinks they are Paris Hilton and the like. Sometimes it’s pisses me off when everything is ‘peaceful’ or when everybody are too nice to each other. Minsan I like to be bad (for a minute) and we sometimes act like we are not suppose to, right? End of the day, we learn from our mistakes because we experienced that somehow.
Hong Kong is a very materialistic place to live. On the other hand, this is a place where people likes to support Charity - they even hire disabled people in some premises like the McDonalds. In my work alone, we have physically disabled person who managed to work 9 hrs a day as an “elevator” guard. Even older people still works here unless they want to retire.
Hi K,
Haven’t talk to you in awhile. Haven’t visit your blog either. I was out of country. Anyway now back to reading your blog again.
Annoying people…hm…I got pretty much the same list.
I would add bad driver
And I totally agree with the whole anorexic look thing.
I feel like I can break them into pieces. Sorry…destructive energy…just finished capoeira class :p
But then if they want to destroy their body…hey…it’s their choice.
