Spring in Hong Kong makes me stick tissues up my nose

Spring in Hong Kong

Yes we have Spring here.

The spring weather in Hong Kong looks like a summer season in our island province in the Philippines, not very hot, not that super humid, not too dry but everytime I’m at home, it makes me extremely miserable, giving me trouble staying focused and everything around totally fuzzes up my brain. I feel like my head is being stepped on by an elephant and my nose feels like a leaky faucet.

Runny nose, burning eyes, itchy skin - all that obviously tells me that the Spring’s finally here.

I do take a shower now and then like three to four times a day, except when I’m at work of course. Worse that even if it’s cooler inside the office, a flu attacks. I tend not to turn on my home airconditioning yet (or at least I can stay away from the electric bills) as I needed to completely clean the dust that has been accumulated during the past winter months.

And since I hate cleaning, the whole flat seemed as though covered with thicky-eeky molds inside and outside. I couldn’t even take a tiny glance off the windows because dust is attacking me like one of those big-brained Earth intruders!

I thought that most sickness is not all that bad because in the back of my mind I know that getting a flu will soon go away.
But with these allergies, I think it will not go away pretty much that tomorrow is going to be just as bad or worse than what it is now. So depressing.

However, this time, I’m extremely tired like allll the time, to the point that I just wanna sleep all day. This is not normal for me. Does anyone know if extreme fatigue is a symptom of spring allergies or should I be concerned about something else?

Any quick remedies to help me with these spring allergies?

Hey K, ever tried to take anti-allergy tablets? It’s what keeps me going. I have to admit though that although I’m like almost allergic to everything in Germany I seldomly have allgergy attacks in HK.

And I think this weather is very humid already. I always have the urgent feeling to shower after work.

My doctor gave me a prescription for fexofenadine and it works pretty well without making me drowsy.

Dicey, ignore my comments at your recent post, I realized it wasn’t actually your birthday pala, hahaha.

I love the transition between Autumn to Winter yet I find Spring to Summer less scintillating than I should. Oh yes bear that in mind, humidity sucks. If you try to jog during the early mornings (not that I do jog) it make things even tougher. HK is too congested, overcrowded that the only way to walk neat and clean are inside malls. But then again, can somebody lower that airconditioning? That’s another thing that makes people sick. I want to see a proper sunset.

Hi Aurora, LTNS (long time no see). How have you been? I’ve been wondering maybe the shower gels which I am using makes my skin even more dry than feeling being fresh & clean.

“and my nose feels like a leaky faucet” mine to, and “I feel like my head is being stepped on by an elephant” but this is just my hangover.
I´m sorry but I have no remedy I wish I had

Sorry to hear that you’re so miserable, many people share your symptoms at this time of the year. The only problem that I’m having is the itching skin due to food allergy or things in the air, which if I feel one coming on, taking Loratadine Antihistamine seems to help. One of my sisters has the exact same problems as you and Zyrtec D (D for decongestion, I think there’s also a regular Zyrtec) seems to help her, she also said that it gives her energy otherwise she’d stay sleepy all the time. The medicine is wickedly expensive, you might want to visit your doctor and ask for samples, they might give you enough to get you through the allergy season.

Another thing, cleaning your flat might also help, dust is the worst allergen.

inthesity, feeling slightly ok here. Been prescribing myself some bottle of evians & cleaning around the flat.

Nye, thanks. I started cleaning. Drinking lotsa water. And oh, I also been dancing the night before. To myself, by myself, for myself. Funny, huh?

Well I have allergies during spring too so my doctor prescribed me some antihestamines and this nasal spray. But it does make me feel week and lazy.

By the way, if you received a comment with the name Emma on it. It is me by the way. I forgot to logout on my mother’s blog. I am making her a blog here and I will help her maintain it.

Hi Emma, thanks, I really like the idea of “not taking” meds or anything like that. I think I only prescribed myself a couple of tablets after I was attacked by a terrible toothache.

Charles, What the Eff. Hahaha. Ok, that’s great! :)
