What’s the sweetest thing of having nephews and niece? Going out for a fun day just to forget about the world and feel like I was in a fairytale last sunday in Hong Kong Disneyland - well it was already my 4th visit since its opening, and I must admit, Hong Kong’s Magic Kingdom has so far been giving everyone a lot of magic.
I remembered my first few visits there was a little disappointing. The first run was rather crowded, you would not believed yourself standing in the sunny open Park, queueing for 45 minutes just to get a 10min ride at the Alice in Wonderland’s saucer cup or Dumbo the Flying Elephant. And what happened there with Minnie and Mickey Mouse getting pictures of their silly asses together because the waiting line was like a “teething pain” like as if you were in the war queueing up for your food. People were pushing at each other, yelling at the lines just to get close with Goofy and Donald Duck. I would never want that again.
And although the crowd was somewhat “pleasing to the bones”, I still didn’t get the chance to have a picture with Minnie (again, what’s with this thing that I always crave to see the way she wiggles her butt?). Infact, Goofy seemed to look less popular with kids. My nephews hated him because he doesn’t give them the funny moves. He’s tall, wearing a jumper suit and has a lousy ears and he asked me to take a picture. Does he talk? I swear he did,“kumusta kabayan” (how are you fellow-pinoy?)? Funny, a lot of Pinoys in character suit.
… if only I have a digital camera.
Forget picture takings, I enjoyed all the kiddie rides and finally, the Space Mountain was the only ride that somewhat entertained me or am I the only one in the car screaming for my dear life? I wanted to take the 2nd attempt but I was distracted with the new show from Stitch. I guess, my favourite character from now on is Stitch. The show was pleasantly cute. He can actually interact with the audience from a big screen. He talks like a real-computer literate from a “satellite” remote and instantly scans real images from the audience. I bet he’s a person sitting infront of this big TV while playing his big joystick and animate Stitch like a real dude. Talking about Xbox, that’s what I want. Infact, Stitch character is once again, another Filipino dude using a very strong American accent. How did I know? He went out from this door and he asked us if we enjoyed it, that was the clue. The show lasted for 20minutes, at least there was a story in there. I didn’t know Stitch lives in Hawaii until little Lilo came out in the scene asking what he was doing in a Spaceship.
The kids enjoyed the Mickey Mouse Philar Magic - a 3D show starring Donald Duck. It’s one of my favourite part of Disney. What can I say, I’ve watched it a dozen times. Besides, there’s a new ride available now for those little kids, the Autopia - the cars ride. Heck, 45mins was the waiting time, so it wasn’t really much of a fun.
I get to visit the Tarzan’s Island. Getting in line to the boat ride was the busiest in the Park just to see the fake animals in the man-made lake. The funny part was the boat tour guide. She couldn’t speak much English and she called the people waving at us waiting in line as “monkeys” while she called us “stinky” people because the fake Elephants takes a bath daily in the lake . I wonder why. At the end of the “trip”, she announced her name so that if we want to ride again, we would then remember her and for those who were unhappy with her service, she gave a different name incase we want to complain. Funny.
Rumors has it that the park will feature more wild ride scenes like the Indiana Jones. A village themed to be added at the Adventure Land. And of course it will be nice if they put some traditional Pirates of The Carribean rides to the theme so it would also benefit the adult visitors. How about some Haunted Mansion? I am sure it’s going to be fun and within 3 to 4 years, there will be more rides and entertainmet in the Park as they might opened another Park next door. A land reclamation nearby has already begun but they say it will be use as another resort hotel.
End of the day, I realized being an entertainer is not an easy job considering they have to do it every single day, smiling at people, taking care of our safety and standing in the crowd wearing those hot suits. So I’m giving my big of applause to all the Disneyland staff for entertaining all of us. I hope there will be a grand finale where the children from all over the world come together for a spectacular curtain call aided by some special lighting effects instead of having the fireworks show.

That is the most happiest thing I have read all day
A lot happy than what I wrote about earlier in my second blog.
i never get tired of going to disneyland! the place gives you the license to smile, hehe. now that i have my own kid, i can use her as an excuse to ride all the rides, kahit pa teapot, hehe. si hubby takot na takot sa space mountain, hahaha!
i also applaud the entertainers for that, hindi biro talaga to wear costumes and heavy makeup ha! and buti naman na the mascot-encased pinoys are not dyahe to greet fellow pinoys! ang galeng
Ed, you know what, when I have something to blog about as excited as I am, my connection goes off of me all the time and it sometimes makes me mad but everytime you guys leave comments, that’s the happiest thing that happens in this blog. Glad you enjoyed the read.
Meeya, imagine on summertime, they actually drip like a broken faucet. Problem is, these costumes are permanent, either it’s summer or winter, you’ll have to wear it. Well except for Ariel (the little mermaid). The 4th time was something fun, no more long queue but the magic is still there. Mas maganda pa rin daw sa Japan (special mention the one in Orlando ba yun?)
i’ll wiggle my butt for you K! *wiggle wiggle*
K, you look like a kid yourself… I suppose you enjoyed yourself more than your nephews and nieces aye?
Vina, If you look at Minnie’s tiny legs and that big shoes, parang gusto mo syang tanggalin at itapon at makitang humagulhol sa inis si Minnie. I want that to happen. LOL.
Asha, ok, I’m small that pretty much explains. The 10min (mmm 5 maybe) at Dumbo was funny, me and niece screamed while on top, just wanted to make a little attention so that everyone would be scared to death in case they want to ride. See the picture why we’re laughing? Hahaha.
I have never been to any Disneyland. I have been to Seaworld in Canada, but that is about it.
It looks fun for the kids, and the adults. I like the crazy rides, the rollercoaster rides.
that’s my TITO K!
Range, Seaworld, is that the same one in Australia? I heard about it. The Disney gave a big hype before its opening so it was packed with (and still is) visitors mostly from the Mainland. I don’t know if they are planning to open one in China, I’m sure it’s going to be huge.
Grace, it wasn’t my treat really, yung mga Nanay nila ang nag yaya sa akin, because you know why? Ako ang taya sa snacks nila.
wow naman. bait na tito. ako medyo banas ako sa mga pamangkin ko. mga spoiled brat kasi. hmmmmppp… LOL
K, how nice of you to pamper your nieces and nephews. Yes, you look like a kid yourself…hehehe.
K, are they (nieces and nephews) there for a visit? What do they think of Hongkong? I bet, they want to stay there for good.
‘wind, di ko naman treat yun, naku yan mga yan sobra kung alam mo lang. I’ve seen them grown pero takot sa mga Nanay yang mga yan. Nung maliliit pa sarap laruin nila ngayong malalaki na matitigas na din ulo but they are smarter than we used to be a kid. Iba na ang mga bata talaga ngayon.
Belle, they live here and study here na. Nakakatuwa dahil mas magagaling sila mag cantonese kesa sa akin. All of them have visited Virac na. They like the beaches kaso nagrereklamo sa tagal ng biyahe and they hate malls when they visited Malls of Asia in Manila, sobrang laki daw at nawawala sila.
you know you could start doing a hongkong disney podcast and join the DPN (Disney Podcast Network)
If you do that I’ll partner up and help you out.
Hi ear, I am shy although I like the idea but I have no idea what and how podcast works. I will be asking you more questions about that when we see online again. BTW, thanks for introducing the Adium.
Looks like you guys had so much fun!
waaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!! *screaming to death*
