Blogging from Starbucks is so hot like a Caramel Macchiato
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
I’m here in Starbucks Coffee with my Baby while waiting for my hot Caramel Macchiato.
I am a very shy person, so I was kinda hesitant of going in public with a notebook. It may look like a total show off but the whole thing of “finding a place to work outside” is to do the test drive on my Mac. I hate to admit it but I also brought my optical mouse just in case I can’t figure out the use of Mac shortkeys. How embarrassing. I’m no geek so you know I want things to work easily. Batteries was charged full but I noticed that it eats the power really really fast, in less than 10 minutes it went down to 95% - just think of PacMan it’s giving me this “hurry up or you’ll die before I can even finish this post”. I can’t think fast, alright. Hopefully, I’m bringing the powercord next time.
Now that the hotspot wi-fi is charging HK $20 for the day on my plastic, I’m thinking whether it pays off to blog in a coffee store with so many people around than wandering in my flat desperately looking for Nancy for free. It’s not cheap at all. On the positive side, it’s the reason why I bought a laptop. It’s very handy and you can just go anywhere and turn it on. The ambience in this Starbucks gives me plenty to talk about. But I’m here, alone - being single that is, may sound absurd but it’s always nice to experience having all these freedom.
Sitting right here in the corner I noticed no other single person dares to give me a silly look. This city is very civilized indeed, everyone does their own thing so I think I’m gonna like it here considering Starbucks in Hopewell Centre Building is just a minute walk from my place. Besides the weather seemed to be dull, no one likes to get wet, so being inside helps get rid of feeling idle during the day.
What I’m worrying right now is where I’m gonna have my dinner. I finished two cups of Macchiatos. I mean really it’s my favourite eversince. But hey gotta love the WiFi. [digg=http://digg.com/gadgets/Blogging_from_Starbucks_is_so_hot_like_a_Caramel_Macchiato/blog]

Why do everybody like the starbucks so much? I hate that place, bad coffee, high prices, and I have´t got a macbook, so I have to post at home. At least in Mad, I can thing of a hundred places to go before put mi foot inside a starbucks.
inthesity, believe it or not at first I din’t like the idea either. I do buy coffee from Starbucks like normally but never did I ever stay this long in a table. Since, it’s a quiet branch near my place, I’d like to say, it’s enjoyable to once in a while blog outside. Good news is, they know what coffee I want when I reach the counter.
You have just got to believe me… I’ve never been to starbucks before. Relax.. don’t be surprised. That’s just me. I don’t know if i will in the near future… that depends. I think i’m weird. Then again, whenever I feel like it… its just too crowded. Oh blah.
I like the pics K. Good shots there.
Asha, you’re so anti-social. Hahaha but for me, it’s something between McDonalds & Starbucks on my days off. I think from now on, I’m going to blog in Starbucks on my days off - looks expensive everytime I go on a WiFi plus ordering a cup of coffee but I think I’ve already built my own territory there to blog. Not a cheap thrill. If I come to visit you, its the first place I’ll ask you to go. Did you notice, it’s my first few close-up shots without the sunglasses on, now tell me why I hate to show my face? The big moles on my face distractful, right?
i save my starbucks for reading and people watching
i tend to blog at this artsy/eclectic place called ‘coffeetalk’ for more inspiration.
coffee cheers!
It looks weird to me tho’ but it feels like you are in New York in a nifty couch, laid back and thoughts comes in instantly. Except that you have to bring an earpiece to play the music loudly which I normally do when I blog at home.
ooo did you see the new mac ads??

i think i love that one the best among the other ads. laughed so hard.
oh yeah gotta love the wifi
and that’s what i usually do. singapore got plenty of free wifi spot.
i heard that the gov is planning to make singapore wifi free zone. still talk though. but i hope they will implement the plan
how is the weather over there anyway? still cold?
Sure I did. Mac do sound a bit “arrogant” in terms of tech-support and other stuff but I’m surprised, Mac is a lot easier than Windows. Besides, I don’t need to worry about the Virus sign-up and alerts. Whoopps, tell you what, I now learned a lot from using the shortcut keys. Cut and Paste is easy - press ctrl + trackpad. Presto, mouse is no longer my right-hand buddy.
I hope the free wifi zone also applies here. It’s still expensive to go online for $20 bucks.
hmm… starbucks here in Malaysia is full of ppl with their laptop and doing all kind of stuff, so don’t worry u are not alone even u are not in the same city

sometimes I do hate those ppl with their laptop and for us those who don’t really hard to get a sits haha!! btw nice pic
I’d prefer “To Go” because I enjoy having a smoke and a coffee. But now that things has somewhat changed, I like to stay, with a laptop and still enjoys the coffee.
Can you buy me a coffee?
I have rarely blogged outside my home or work (it happens sometimes). I have used internet cafés daily in the last week in Thailand. Starbucks charges 150BHT per hour of WiFi access, and that is expensive.
I don’t know what the situation is in Taiwan, because my laptop rarely leaves home. When I upgrade to a MacBook and move to Taipei, I’ll let you know.
I have blogged extensively from airports and found the situation a bit frustrating, because power plugs are so hard to find in HK, Bangkok and Taoyuan as well as Phuket. I bruised a rib sitting on a cart in Phuket as I blogged in a corner by myself.
In Canada, WiFi hotspots are mostly free. All cafés offer free internet through hotspots, which is why I find Starbucks a bit strange since they charge people for that. Makes me want to go back home and use my computer instead of trying to find a free hotspot.
Some cities are blanketed by WiFi hotspots, making the internet accessible freely from everywhere. I don’t remember the names, but know that Taipei isn’t one of them. I think most of them are in the US (LA will be blanketed by 2009 and Atlanta is in the running as well).
I have got no idea on the status of hotspots in Taipei, but I guess I will find out soon enough, as I am moving there next week.
when u in Malaysia or SG a coffee sure no problem!!! hugss
i usually just order a macchiato too, when i do starbucks. and ehem, i do blogging at the office simply because i don’t have a laptop/notebook yet. *sigh*
