Mac people what are these keys?

I have been the proud owner of my glossy MacBook so there’s nothing much really exciting what to blog about. I can’t even find my time reading all your nice blogs because my new laptop is keeping me real busy from adapting the simple use of keyboard.

I forgot this whole blogging thing because the fact is, my machine is a Mac and it’s really useful for me to learn that this version of Safari includes several new features which makes it easier to explore the Internet specially for a person like me with a disability and have difficulty using the keyboard shortcuts than using a mouse. I just can’t seem to properly use it without a mouse. So I read a lot of few things every new Mac owner should know.

What really fascinates me is that, taking pictures of deskstop screenshots was very quick. I can now use the term “Grab”. This Mac Application is use to take a picture of the screen, whereas in Windows, we use this term as Screenshots in case you want to take a picture of your desktop. If you are using Windows, hold down the Alt key while you press the PrntScrn button, Windows will copy an image of the Active Window. It even took me ages before I learnt that technique.

I recommend ManMeng’s blog who post a daily dosage of “How To Do” list of anything - even the simplest one, you might still ask on how to do it. Like for example, “How to wear a sock properly”?

iPhotoMy personal thank you to EAR for spending her precious time with me during our short encounter at yahoo chat. EAR is my mentor for providing me few simple instructions on how to use the Command (⌘) key (I find these two keys with an Apple logos sitting side by side with the spacebar really cute), a Mac term used for “Control key” in Windows which is used to perform actions or shortcuts. I’ve found out that Mac OS X and Windows have many of the same stuff, though I’m very much familiar with the Windows, however some of the names are different and most likely there are things that I don’t exactly know. Sometimes when I try to minimize the window, all the applications disappear but they go directly to the dock. One thing I know in Windows is that if you click the red ‘x’ button and assume they’re quitting an application, it doesn’t really quit the whole thing so instead, a command is used to end it.

If saving time and being productive is the name of the game, then keyboard shortcuts are for me. I have to really get started.

what i like about the MacBook is the “double-finger” scroll on finger pad. this allows you to scroll up and down pages without clicking and dragging that thingie on right side of the screen.

have you discovered the toggle-screens feature where you pick a ‘hot spot’ on a corner of your screen to move your cursor on? if you have a few windows/applications open, this allows u to see them all at a glance, then when u pick the one u want, just click on that, and it will come to the front.

macs are real convenient and user-friendly, i think! i’m glad you’re enjoying yours!

Range, infact, it looks a lot easier for me.

Thanks Rho, I learned a few tips from you and I did notice that. I’m still trying to find out how to maximize the browser that automatically fits the whole screen without dragging the bottom corner to make the size wider. And you know, I always got stucked with the “shift” button. Everytime I press that, there’s a big arrow that appears on the desktop.

Vince, I think I already told you, I wish I had a better connection, it’ll be more fun. But you’re right, even offline, I enjoy it more. When you have new gadget, it makes you feel excited all the time.

Consuela, you can never believe how proud I am. I’m just thinking what to do with my IBM. I mean it still works great to me - not easy to let it go.

ManMeng, you’re crazy. You scared the hell off of me, hahahaha. I tried it and it gave me a MACRO screen SHOT as I click and click and click… I didn’t know what to do so I force quit my Mac.

Duke, my colleague said, next time if I have million dollars, I should buy a car because having said if you have a computers at home can’t pretty tell if they are the latest one, unlike the car, you can show it off. I was like…. ok, I wish I was rich or something like that.

Chase, this Mac is a dual core so it will also work with the Vista. But oh well, Vista is just another OS although it looks good too.

Jaypee, ok ba to? Wala lang I thought, I’ve worked so hard and so maybe, give myself something - probably the most extravagant bday gift I gave for myself.

Well it depends on your preference. But for me, OK na OK yan! Macs are beautiful! Tapos wala pang virus problems. Yon nga lang, if you’re used to having a PC, you really have a lot to learn and adjust to like yon mouse na walang right click. Hehe :D

Sorry K, didn’t explain it properly, hahaha, it’s a zooming tool, i guess by now probably you know what it is, very useful tool/option for presentation :P
as you scroll out/away/bottom +ctrl you’ll go back to 100% of the screen. too bad my new macbook sent back to warranty :S sob

Jaypee, true walang right-click. Some of things are not very well known to me but I’m sure when I learned to do these it will save a lot of time and once I get used to this amazing application, I will probably wonder how I ever gonna lived without it.

ManMeng, I figured that out myself thanks for the tips. Well hopefully you guys had shed some light into my silly little problem.
