Blowing out the candle

Another birthday has come and gone and this one made me smile. It was probably one of a few memorable of recent years, probably because it was simple and I made it at the Fish Bar at the JW Marriott Hotel - a fish of three, rather a Feast of three.
Actually, I forgot the name of the first food we ordered. It was served really hot, chef’s recommendation - a bucket of mix of scallops, garoupa & squids in soup. I scooped it up with a bowl of rice because it made me really really hungry. Next we got a load of pan fried calamaris served with a homemade-like tartar sauce. Then we got a rich, cheesy lasagna loaded with assorted vegetables fresh from the oven along with a Parmesan cheese garlic bread. We even asked for an extra bread because it was really delicious.
Surprise! Surprise! The restaurant manager even offered us a free glasses of Reds, charged on the house and — a tiny slice of cheese cake with a candle. I really don’t like the idea of blowing a cake because imagine, when you blow the candles I’m sure the germs are definitely spread all over that cake but what the hell, it’s my birthday. I had the right to make my guest eat my germs, they knew that before they accepted the invitation, right? And although I didn’t have a decent picture, I did make a wish - my Samsung cam-phone didn’t work well. How bizarre!
Yet, it was very simple with a thousand laughs from a good friend Soyee & Bob. It would have been great if the rest of the gang were here but thank you Treena for the text message greetings & Masel for the nice comments on my blog. Remember the Ralph’s boxer you gave me at the Dan Ryan’s? As always, it brought a smile on my face and a chuckle as well. I still use them and reminds me of you.
Happy birthday! I know it’s been a long time, I do remember your birthday and decided to look for your blog spot instead of greeting you through email. I remember how we used to spend our birthdays in HK. We usually eat out and hang out at LKF. I miss those days and the rest of the group. - Masel
Hey, how did she find my blog? And oh, thank you Soyee for the gift, a Clarinsmen lip balm. Now it’ll keep me glossy from morning ’till night.
A great birthday indeed. I hope next time, they better have an ice cream for my birthday. Do you think they can put a candle on an ice cream cake? Thank you All for the nice greetings.
