Shampoo

I’m sorry for being so frank. But you know when the weather gets really dry during the winter months (dry winter weather), you can see flakes appearing on my black shirt - a dandruffs. I know that these appears to be a seasonal condition, especially now that the weather gets really cold.

My scalp seems to be irritated from dryness and producing a lot of dandruffs - not that really thick & gross looking kind of dandruffs (still a yukky) but it’s becoming a nightmare to me every now and then. I suspect this is also a hormonal imbalances, meaning I’m getting old?

Even taking a regular use of anti-dandruff shampoo for washing my hair is the easiest way to make my hair dandruff free, it’s not helping at all. It becomes very itchy late of the day and oily as well. I was thinking to clean shave my head but, my company will fire me if I do that. I’m suffering a lot with the itchy head and everything.

I thought I have to invest a decent shampoo, well I tried a few of those expensive ones like the Neutrogena and Aveda products but it only works a short time. The cheap Head & Shoulders shampoo (overrated commercial) doesn’t help either. Sometimes I don’t trust those products from Toni & Guy salon, it’s just that my dandruffs are really stubborn.

They say, a vinegar works for other people. I mean, are you kidding me? What a shame!

Well I went the other day at Watson’s Dispensary shop and I’ve found a new product to try on, the Phyto Lactum shampoo. I heard about this a few times before but I just find their brand name a bit of strange, it’s not cheap but expert says that it has a special extract that will keep your hair to look even more healthier. So I’m looking forward to that.

How I wish I can peel it off and live happily without the scalp skin.

do u massage ur scalp when u shampoo ur hair? do u shampoo every day? do u use conditioner? gentle shampoo is the best. try cutting down of styling products like gels, sprays, and other stuff.

OO naman. I suspect yung hairgel ata ang culprit. At the mo’ I keep a bottle of J&J baby oil, it helps pero ang init sa ulo nun anoh? Hehehe. Im cold phobic talaga, pero I love taking a bath, baka nasobrahan lang ako ng paligo and uses those shower gels & shampoos a lot than I suppose to.

people recommend a clarifying shampoo at the end of the week, like the Neutrogena one, to get rid of the residue on the scalp. i usually rotate shampoos, i don’t know if it’s scientifically proven or anything, i just feel na “nagsasawa” yung scalp ko sa shampoo kaya sya nag-aamok. haha.

dandruff is not really a hormonal problem. well, one external cause is cold weather and dry indoor heating. common yata ito sa mga katulad nating di sanay sa ganitong weather condition. hehehe, says who? says me na may balakubak din pag winter season :(

I actually like the idea yung tipong dozen of sachet para di manghinayang kung ayaw mo na. Di na man gaano ka-kapal buhok ko, kaso irritating kapag mag balakubak! Gross!

Ate Beng, yan yata ang effect, pag sa bahay naka heater, tapos lalabas ka malamig, minsan pati katawan mo ang kati-kati. Pwede kaya caladryl?

phyto is supposed to be a good brand K, so good luck.

but if it still fails, i guess you really have to consult a dermatologist already.

So they say, then I’ll try that product. It isn’t really serious kaso irritating lang kapag makati. When I was younger, di naman uso ang shampoo, sabon na safeguard lang oks na walang “side effects”. Ano kaya isabon ko na lang?

haha, soap is too harsh for the scalp, unfortunately.

but really, since your (scalp) condition is brought about by weather change, the dermatologist might be able to help you out.

Xtina, do you think that’s a little expensive? I would save for my dental instead while I have other alternative use of shampoo, ok lang ba ang coconut oil to heal the scalp? Thanks for the opinion.

Vina, I swear, I’ve been using Papaya soap on summer, madulas naman sya, kaso not on this kind of weather. Don’t you think masyadong high maintenance ang pumunta sa dermato? Uyyy, meron akong nagustuhan sa Kiehl’s shop. I bought one item kaso, baby lip balm. Ang mahal naman nung shampoo nila, wag na!

hmmmm I used to have the same problem before but suddenly it was just gone after I tried this medicinal shampoo which i got from the pharmacy. After that period i can now just use any shampoo without having dandruff problems

And so I went to this shop looking/asking for the Phyto anti-dandruff products. It’s a treatment shampoo with a combination of best herbal and hi-tech formulas (the sales rep said that) so she gave me 3 kinds, a daily shampoo, maintenance, and cleansing. I was like, just for the dandruff? It says, within 1 week, 75% my dandruffs (or flakes) will reduced dramatically, so I’m going to try it on soon.

i have no idea what to do w those snowflakes

Hi sha, thanks for your kind gesture. Syempre I declined the offer, kasi baka hindi umepekto ang Phyto dahil libre, pero salamat sa offer. I think these snowflakes are caused by lack of things - no sex, working too hard and eating food from the microwave, etc.
