K, singing Incognito’s “Tin Man”

Incognito’s second release of 2006, BEES & THINGS & FLOWERS, finds the London-based acid-jazz ensemble–led by mastermind Jean-Paul “Bluey” Maunick–offering up a collection of covers, remixes, and previously unreleased tunes. Featuring a wide array of vocalists, including Carleen Anderson and Maysa, the set is consistently engaging, particularly when its revisits and reworks soulful Incognito classics such as “Always There” and “Deep Waters.”

Incognito is one of the great stories of UK music. Inspired by the acoustic and soulful-yet-laidback funk of Bill Withers, the haunting string arrangements of David Axelrod, and the close harmonies of Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, the album was recorded with the ‘unplugged’ concept in mind.

So, forgive me but I’ve been singing Tin Man all the while now. Their new releases are always good news. The songs on this album are very satisfying. It contains new arrangements of four old Incognito classics. Plus, few covers of Roy Ayers’ “Everybody Loves The Sunshine”, Earth Wind & Fire’s “That’s The Way Of The World”, “Summer In The City” and America’s “Tin Man”.

Tell me what you think and please be honest, I sound like a crying chihuahua, right?

Duke, I am a real sucker for “imitation”. Parang fake LV wallet na Gucci ang logo ba?

Vince, practice makes perfect, so they say, but for my case, I’m just enjoying listening to my crack voice - no one will sue me for doing this right?

K, when is Hongkong going to hold their own version on Hongkong Idol? I’d say you should join…hehe.

Keep singing!

Belle, that is so sweet of you, hahaha. Honestly, I can break a light bulb anytime I want when I sing. Sa Virac before, uso ang karaoke bars (I think even now). I tried once dun sa bar nina Alberto, while hitting the high notes, napundi ang ilaw (coincidence kaya?). Tawanan ang buong audience. Panis!

Hehehe…purely coincidence, am sure. my daughter was a lousy singer when she was freshman in high school (am not saying you are..i think you have a good voice)her father would hide in our room when she sang. but she did not let it affect her. she kept practicing night and day, day after day. in fact, one of her songs was titled “Day After Day.” many years later, my husband can’t believe what she has become and have asked her to write him a song.

Practice makes perfect or so they say. Two of my brothers are in the band, one plays the bass, and other other a keyboard, none of them sings, but nowadays, if you are in a gig, one needs to sing at least, so they tried harder, learnt and now they can sing. Our youngest in Bicol didn’t know about music, he listen, plays along and helps my Dad out pag igwang fiestahan (we have a band our own sa Virac). Now that he learns how to play the drums, he created his own group band at yun marunong na. If you plan of going home, hire mo sila just ask my sis, she manage their grp once in a while lalo na kapag may mga fiesta.

K, i might take you up on that so long i have a discount..deal? holding a party at the rooftop of my hut is very tempting…just for the fun of it.

will i be able to afford the rent?

2007-01-17 00:28:27

Discount eh mura lang naman ang service nila, with libreng pakain na rin. Seriously, uso na sa atin ang live band kapag may bday o kahit anong klaseng ocassion, di na ata uso ang “lights and sounds” lang. If you are in Virac Poblacion, dami na ring bars…sana naka recover na sila.
