Speaking of which, allow me to show you some of these women’s gimmick on boots this season. Here are some shots I took while I was heading for work and I had to use the zoom shots before anyone noticing me or else I’d suffer with a Jackie Chan flying kick or someone would threatened me to call the cops. I wouldn’t mind someone stopping me or giving me an Al Qaeda lecture by using my camera phone zooming on these girls booty, but I just assumed I might get in trouble so forgive me on the low quality out-of-focus shots.

Boots 4Boots 2Boots 3Boots1

Boots are one of the many Hong Kong women’s favorite things to wear during winter - any kind of boots, colors, styles (from ankles, mid-calf, tall or any other styles like an ugg boots), genuine suede, leather and fabric. Although I haven’t seen one wearing an ugg these days, I just thought they really are going crazy with the boots and it looks cute on them (well some of them has the “it”) and others just don’t care whether they have a pale-looking legs? With a thick red socks on? In a superlong skirts, wide-leg pants and fluttery minis?

They can all look too ’80s. Isn’t it essential to understand that not all boots are created equal? But what I mean is, how do you consider to tote with a trendy footwear to work in nasty winter condition. Does it has to be really trendy? I don’t understand it but I think it’s the women’s fashion staple this winter.

    ha ha ha I so love your keen observation, K! I like that pink booties. Do they also wear those of weird colors like yellow, green or violet?

    I didn’t like boots before but I finally had learned to love wearing them because of necessity. With the snow and everything, you really have to. Presently, I have three pairs. I bought them during the sale season. Not expensive, no fancies, nothing. Just good pairs to protect my feet and legs against the nasty cold.

    BTW, your camera phone’s fabulous. You’ve got good pictures!

    hi Joy, in HK it’s the other way around. The other day my boss came with her boots on, I said, “wow it looks good on you”. She’s super tall and I mean really it looks good on her. Then she replied, “if you want to look good, you need to feel the pain of wearing, not really a fun thing to do”. But yeah girls just don’t care if it’s giving them the pain in the toenails. I’m using Samsung D900 camera phone, not bad for taking pictures compared to my N70. I’m a gagdet conscious too. HK is a very digital city.

    Ate Beng, hurraaah! Ang galeng, now you see I’m using it. Looks great, galeng mo talaga. Salamat po.

    Neko, hahaha. I understand boots is also one the girls bestfriend during this season. Boots march to superstardom and women looks more elegant and they really complete an outfit for them. I had a cowboy boots but everytime I wear them, I get headaches so I still stick to my havaianas even if my feet gets numbed during winter.

    so cool! I have a major fetish for all shoes and hosiery :)
    I love wearing boots however here in Honolulu, it’s not common and hardly anyone wears it! Since I bought them a couple years ago…I’ve only worn my knee-high black boots less than 10 times total.

    The only time I’ll put on my boots is when I feel like really dressing up to work (my office is so laid back and very casual)

    Hi C, I know you have every footwear for all ocassions. You love going home with a paper bag, I’m not surprise. A boots is like putting on a sock, just one made out of leather. Wearing a good pair of boots is like wearing a comfortable pair of sweaters. Agree?

    Asha, I have always thought that it’s rude to snap at someone else’s face or bum on public so I’m very much aware of that but seeing these girls in boots, I couldn’t resist. The locals aren’t always happy and carefree when some unknown person taking a picture of themselves. They think, you’re a sicko. The last time, I stood infront of this shop and I took a shot of myself without the intentions of using the background of the mannequin, the sales rep shooed me away with the whining face. She thought I’m some designer or whatever. LOL.

    Candice told me that to women,shoes and boots are like ties to men.

  11. Wavatar duke on 30.11.2006 at 19:43 Post reply

    hahahaha

    you really took photos of these boots wearing women!

    Funny because it’s not that cold in HK to wear boots. I guess it is really more of a fashion statement.

    Right now, I’m wearing boots because I have no choice. The weather is too cold for an islander like me! :)

    Ed, the ugg boot reminds me of the model Kate Moss. She looked good wearing that boot in skirt and shorts and it began a trend so a lot of people (celebrity) saw the way she wear her ugg. I have found a shop here nearby and I think it’s so interesting to buy one slipper for home use. Mmmmm, I need to ask a friend from Oz to send me one for Xmas.

    Range, exactly. Like once you have it on, you don’t have to think about it anymore. I wish I also wear ties cuz really, if I wear a tie, I look like some kind of student from your class. I’m short and I don’t look good with ties. Hehehe.

    Duke
    , I know you can relate. Have you ever tried that during your HK years? Well I think the key part of these boots-wearing trend is that it doesn’t matter what you put on your feet as long as it’s a pair of boots whether they are knee-high, ankle boots or somewhere in between, there are such abundance of choice here. Eh dito pa lahat na lang gagamitin kahit hindi bumagay.

    i have been always been loooooonging to wear boots.

    i was able to buy a sexy pair at janylin a few months ago, and more importantly, i was able to wear them (not here, of course).

    i can’t wait to travel again where it’s autumn or winter (bahala na ang lamig), just so i could wear them again and at least get my money’s worth. :P

    it is weird i see a lot more boots here than back home (where it’s considerably much colder these days). although kansas was not immune to the valley girl / sorority ugg fad. :)

  15. Wavatar K on 30.11.2006 at 23:55 Post reply

    Hey Vina, I think I saw you in one of your pictures wearing one, I am not sure it was where you travelled to the US ba? The good thing kasi dito sa HK eh meron ding winter season kahit di nag snow (umaabot lang sa 8 Deg) malamig na talaga for me and when they say WINTER, eh it’s the ultimate season to SHOW off your winter clothes. Gaganda nilang tingnan (I’m not referring those boots wearer in the picture). Pag natyempuhan ko si Nanette Medved (ganda talaga nya in person) I could a snap a shot of the dress code she’s wearing sa mall. Malimit kasi sya dun sa paborito kong mall.

    Pablo, hahahaha did you? I told you wearing boots here is a success for consumers and it’s really acceptable to wear such in HK. The past two summer seasons have proved that women wearing these boots are no longer limited to use for winter, so practically it has turned them into a Superstar (well if one knows how to wear one). You’ll see more in few weeks time.

    first of all, congratulations on the new banner! how festive! love ko sya.

    as for the boots, maybe we’re just envious that we can’t wear boots? hahahahaha! but seriously, i think its sexy although it does not go for all. the principle in wearing something is that you look good and you feel good. if one is not present in that equation, then people will view it as bad. devah?

    JC, meron din akong cowboy boots, medyo matulis nga dulo at mataas akong tingnan kaso luma na at mahirap dahil minsan may natutusok ako nun. But I have this Boy Scout shoes from Palladium in khaki color and it never goes out of style. I’m sometimes a risk taker so I’m eye-ing on that Kenneth Cole leather shoes, it’s more extreme and fashionable at the same time. It’s nice with a dirty denim jeans.

    Vince, I’m not courageous when it comes to snapping pictures on passer’s by. Sometimes I laughed at myself because I looked like a complete idiot pretending I was dialing someone. Winter months is something to celebrate once in a while but I have a cold phobic it makes me sick all the time. Thanks for the greetings - same to you.

    to the topic: trend din pala diyan ang boots? ngehehe…dito rin at talaga namang malulula ka sa dami ng style. and apropos trend, let me quote a part of your post.

    But what I mean is, how do you consider to tote with a trendy footwear to work in nasty winter condition.

    can you imagine that in a nasty winter condition, lots of women here are wearing super low rise jeans with matching midrib top or blouse? hmmn, di kaya sila giniginaw? kong ako ang magsusuot ng ganyan balisawsaw kaagad aabutin ko.

    pssst, pahabol:

    is it possible for you to modify the css file of your current theme? pwedeng mong iangat ng konti ang site title mo to make it more visible?

    okay if yes, hanapin mo ang part na ito on your style.css

    h1 { /* H1 is the title in the header */
    font-size: 3em;
    font-weight: bold;
    letter-spacing: -1px;
    margin: 0;
    padding: 75px 40px 0;
    }

    reduce the top padding from “75px” to let say 65px or 55px

    Cheh, my lips are sealed, I am not going to pollute your mind about what I’m watching. Hahaha.

    Ate Beng, sad to say I am not allowed to edit my template css. A free wordpress doesn’t have an option to re-decorate the whole K2 except for the header. I used to do that on my old domain and you know it sucks but I’m having fun with this free service. There’s no need to raise eyebrows. Salamat sa pag-gawa ng header image.

I think that’s your job (a make up artist), to make them feel & look beautiful from inside and outside. I didn’t realized you were in HK and now I’m craving for some Do-Nuts.

    i wish i lived in HK for the main reason of wearing beautiful funky boots. i wear them here and people give me weird stares…

  28. Wavatar K on 04.12.2006 at 14:55 Post reply

    HAHAHAHA dez. Nowadays people here use their boots in any ocassion depending if you are a celebrity or “want to be seen” and be stared at. Pero ok lang sa kanila yun, walang turuan (ng nguso) kapag nakakakita ka ng hindi kanais-nais. LOL.

    Pero sa Makati area, fashionable ang mga tao diyan ha? Syempre minus the furry coats. Malamang pagkakaguluhan ka.

    woohoo! i wore my boots just this friday when i went partying in makati.
