Sai Kung

Grace was right, our team building was postponed not cancelled when the typhoon was finally lowered to signal #1 earlier this morning. I was disturbed by a loud ringtone at seven when a colleague called announcing that I should get ready in thirty (30) minutes to leave for the Sai Kung activity - which means I had to take a short 15mins trip to my morning alleluhiah bath on this short notice just to reload the emptied tote bag I prepared the other day. I was rushing like a lunatic when the service car picked me up infront of the Hopewell Centre near my place and completely looking like a nice VIP. Seriously, the people from the HR must be responsible in disseminating a wrong information than keeping me busy in ‘cross-legged’ all evening on flickr, waiting in vain.

Sai Kung is not an Island by the way. It’s a mountainous waves located in the east of the telly-tail side of The New Territories. It was simply beautiful there. I thought I was visiting Taal Volcano in the Philippines as our car went atop the mountain seeing a greenery beauty of Hong Kong which I have never seen eversince I’ve lived here. You see, Hong Kong is not just about having all the huge logo shopping bag hanging in your neck and the super electric lights, it’s also a place where one can meditate in a lotus position from the beautiful natural surroundings - a complete scerenity of the territory.

As expected the activity was not all about splashing in a sea water either, it looked as though a man-made lake used as a recreation place for Kayaking known to as the windsurfing school for kids and adults alike. I thought, water sport was a big terrifying outdoor activity thinking typhoon #1 is still hoisted. One thing I got all in my head is that, ‘what if we all get drowned’? I was chicken-shit for the first time seeing swimmers in wetsuits, of course the worst scenario was that, I am petrified and dead scared of lakes. I have these recurring dreams about falling into water which apparently driving me bantly. But I thought, these Team Building activity is just all about trust, being confident and teamwork then I supposed everyone will be helping each other out. The only way to get over a fear is to face it over and over again as I overcome my subconcious thinking that there is something there even though there is nothing there that’s really going to hurt me.

To make a story short, it didn’t rained, cameras wasn’t useful during the wet-games but the HR captured everyone of us in a video, so I only got the chance to take a few shots upon leaving the place. The seafood dinner at downtown restaurant was palatable. The town is simply like a provincial vacationing place. I enjoyed the Kayaking games, I rowed so fast, my biceps were “volted” like I made a complete race in Olympics, my legs were strong & although my team lost it, still we participated and had fun.

Now I just had a hot shower and getting ready to conquer my bed so I will be replying to all your comments in my previous related-post when I feel more relax hopefully in the morning. Meanwhile, click the beautiful pictures of the Lake above.

Have a FUN weekend.

  1. [...] Anyway, a few days ago, we had our 3rd Team Building activity held at the Big Buddha in Lantau Islands. It was built in 1993 but it is now the newest Hong Kong attraction because it begun with an attractive 20-25 minutes cable car ride, I believe this is one of the world’s longest cable car, watching the scenery in a 360 degree panoramic view over the North Lantau Island, the South China Sea and the HK International Airport before finally seeing the magnificent BIG BUDDHA statue about 34 metres in height (I can’t remember because I was so busy with taking pictures). The Ngong Ping 360 is such a very beautiful place, it was my first time there. It was a journey of enlightenment. The view was breathtaking. What I learned from this team building is that the Buddha has two messages to the people who visit the place. If you look closely, he is sitting on a lotus position, the right hand means “Peace” while the left hand resting on the lap is said to be “Fulfilling Wishes”. [...]

I think I still had this trauma from the deadly typhoon where I experienced back in Bicol when I was still in my College.

But it was fun afterall despite the gloomy weather.

Seems that you have fun there, K! Whoopie!

Nah, don’t be pessimistic, always view something on the positive side, and that would make you more comfy and at peace, rather than panicking.

I also have recurring dreams about swimming in the sea/ocean, then, a vortex would suddenly surround me and suck me up real deep into the blue. I drowned and died, but afterwards, I came into my senses; and I noticed that I was breathing underwater, only to find out that I have been resurrected by an unknown force, giving me gills, but retaining my human form. Such a weird, weird, silly dream!

Panis yung team namin sa dalawang race. I wasn’t really into competing, kaso na overexcited lang. Will have another one next year, bungee jumping na siguro. Aguy.

Enjoy your get-away Madam Gracie, tell us lots of stories pagbalik mo. Wag iwanan ang iPod and take more photos.

That’s cool. I remembered we also had our Team Building at DisneyLand last year, exciting I may say, dahil chibugan lagi ang ending.

    But never been to Laguna.

My tiny biceps you mean? A total stretched really, for the first time in many years I hadn’t achieved anything like that. The last kayaking adventure I had was in Phuket, a long time ago na.

Sai Kung is such a place away from the city. I began to suspect that I will be coming back to that place, of course if someone initiates, it’d be fun.

Aba malay, Akismet tracks your IP everynow and then, strange huh?
