I’m done with the packing. I got all my beach paraphernalias ready in my tote bag but sad to say, our Team Building activities to the island of Sai Kung tomorrow has been cancelled due to the bad weather, for crying out loud.
Typhoon #3 was hoisted yesterday, lowered this morning and a BLACK rainstorm is coming anytime soon. Well the reason I got myself stucked at Giorgio Armani shop was because I had no umbrella, only a pair of summer shades sitting on top my Justin Timberlake’s marine haircut head. Unexpectedly the “weather” like it or not gone bad - obviously it always happen on my days off, like aaaaaallllllll the fooking time. I’ve been noticing this awful drill recently everytime I’m all settling out for a short break off this big city.
Just because there’s nothing else to do, flickring pictures is something more fun to do indoors rather than going out in the storm.
If only the weather was nice, I could have been here, in Saikung Town for the whole day adventure.
Here’s a picture of the beautiful Sai Kung.

Whenever it rained in Hong Kong, which frequently did during the months of July, the sea of black heads in front of me would turn into a sea of colorful umbrellas. It was a very beautiful sight. The only problem was all of the umbrellas were right at eye level with me, meaning I nearly got my eyes poked out six or seven times. If only I were taller.

Rain is all good if you like walking in it armed with an umbrella ala Singing in the Rain, but being in a torrent of it (like I was last Monday) sucks, especially when the humble trenchcoat which sure as hell isn’t waterproof starts to fail on you
That first picture with the grey cityscape is driving me crazy, I feel like slapping a bright gradient overlay on the picture in photoshop
Mother Nature has been dumping her naturely bucket of water since last week, not crying a river but an ocean! Yay for us in the Land of Oz.
Hehe Menta, I think it depends where it’s raining. If it’s raining really badly, it can be a typhoon.
Unlike in my Island province in the Philippines where I grew up, when we are visited by typhoon, it is not always fun to think and say “WOW there’s a typhoon, NO CLASSES today” - we prepare in getting enough supply of food, matches, candles & even rice or the canned goods, etc.
I’m not just a ‘weather gone bad’ person really.
I love the pictures, give a certain feel to HK. It rained here too last night and the heat is a bit less harsh.
The pictures were actually old. If only I have a nice digital cam, there’s a lot of places here to capture, range.
omigosh…that totally sucks…especially when you were looking forward to some fun as well as some R&R!! I would be totally bumped as well….
We were experiences such weather temperament this past spring…where the whole work week would be nice, clear and a little sunny, but come the weekends, my day off and have plans to be outdoors…IT POURS LIKE CATS & DOGS! bladdy frustrating…hehe
anywaes…enjoy being indoors and dry or just chance it and go out, take some photos and enjoy the rain
happy weekend to you K!
“IT POURS LIKE CATS & DOGS!”
You made me confused a bit in that, C hahaha. I wouldn’t mind if it’s raining DOLLAR notes, I would certainly go out get one big bucket to make it full and more. But for me, rain makes me dull like a sick puppy.
Happy weekend. DCC me some food please.
Aiiieee!!! Nice pictures, nice scenery of Sai Kung. I wish I could have my vacation there for several weeks.
Oh well, I just hate it when a very special event just like like going to Sai Kung for a nice break. It’s the feeling of like, you’re anticipating something and you become excited at once, but then, a crappy announcement just popped out canceling everything.
Might as well stay indoors because of the bad weather.
“Rain… rain go away… come again another day…”
I can imagine Pinas when it’s raining. Baha, hirap mag commute, puno ang JEEP. I had a bad experienced about rain/typhoon when I was in college. Kapag mahirap ka lang kasi, yan ang laging reklamo natin which is true. Eh mahulog ka kaya bigla sa manhole?
I hate it when you go to school all in your nice and clean uniform, you have no choice but to fold your pants half up your knees para di mabasa with a soaking shoes.
At least we can relax with a nice, big bowl of soup in winter
It’s also good to have soup in Summer, Menta as long as you put your AC on hehehe.
looks like a nice place. have fun. man!
I’m thinking the same thing, Sir Neko. Actually it didn’t rained the next day albeit typhoon #1 was hoisted. So we pushed thru the plans and I was there.
No, I won’t say anything about the rain (cos you already know how I feel about it :P) It’s just the umbrella… yeah, don’t like carrying it.
It’s friday! Hope you have a pleasant weekend K.
Yeah I know Ash, you’re the RAIN WEATHER GIRL. But we pushed thru with the plans earlier next day. I wrote an update post for that.
Stay safe even if you like the rain, accidents can happen anytime. Have a great ‘weather’ weekend.
tito k … is it cancelled or just postponed? maybe there’s still a bright future for a warm and splashing vacation in Sai Kung …
I’m off on Sunday for Muscat! i’m heading straight to the beach, then to the pool, then beach, then pool, then beach, then pool, then beach, then pool … then when i’ll come back to India i’m colored charcoal! bweheheheheheheheheh!
tito k … is it cancelled or just postponed? “
POSTPONED. You’re right. I posted it on my new entry. I do enjoy the pool, but I just don’t like the idea of wearing swimming trunks not that I hate it, I just don’t like showing off my malnourished physique or I will not be taking off my goggles all throughout the activity so no one would notice me.
Raining is just wasting my time really but hey enjoy your Sunday ghettos for Muscat, wherever that is. I like a benne-color, looks healthier and we pinoys have those kind of colored-quality skin. Nagyabang ba naman? hehehe.
*gasp* new look! sh*t, i’ve been absent from your site for too long….
K!
la lang, happy weekend!
how’s your quit smoking project going on, by the way? i never forget about that, you know.
Me too V for “GASPING”. I need an overall bloghopping. I would not want my blogfriends think I’m being “anti-social”. Life is like that I guess, we alll have our own seasons too.
My QUIT smoking campaign? What smoking? Give me an ashtray. Honestly, I’m still in the level of adjustments. I do not wish to ditch the whole pack, but I’m learning the “one step at a time” process. I’m still reading that post up to now and makes me re-think and re-evaluate myself if I’m doing it correctly. Thanks for reminding me.
Rained again here, but now it’s a bit cooler now.
DCC me some of that Thai prawn Curry please!
Hehehe, you know I can’t cook - I desperately avoid the kitchen.
D’oh! I forgot that dessert soups existed too
and Ais Kacang for the Malaysians during summer, even though Ais Kacang is more an ice dessert, but it’s still good
if you haven’t tried the Filipino dessert, “halo halo”(mixes of sweet preserved beans, ice cream, milk, ect then you should order in your nearest “filipino resto”. It’s probably similar to Ais Kacang but this one is the “sweetest” thing of all desserts for Filipino in Summer.
K, just so I know when I return home, how tall are you, and at what height are these menacing umbrellas?
[...] Sai Kung is not an Island by the way. It’s a mountainous waves located in the east of the telly-tail side of The New Territories. It was simply beautiful there. I thought I was visiting Taal Volcano in the Philippines as our car went atop the mountain seeing a greenery beauty of Hong Kong which I have never seen eversince I’ve lived here. You see, Hong Kong is not just about having all the huge logo shopping bag hanging in your neck and the super electric lights, it’s also a place where one can meditate in a lotus position from the beautiful natural surroundings - a complete scerenity of the territory.
