Your own words

What’s this energy? To see people leaving comments in our blog, or the quiet people that simply just clicking away and increases our hits. Did you ever wonder how you started your own blog? Who was your first commenter? What was the comments? Comments are free. Would it be nice if those newbies out there who are just starting their FIRST BLOG would received a little nice comments? I’m sure it will encourage them to keep on blogging.

When I was a little, I used to think that if someone looked familiar to me then I must also look familiar to them. I believed that we all are strangers to blogosphere but these are the easiest way to find and create friendship by linking on to each other and reply to the ones (for me, I respond to everyone) who gives us ideas, making us smile or others would correct us on something we wrongly said.

Do you know that I would misunderstood someone pronouncing the word “vase” by actually pronouncing it as “vay-s”? For years I saw, read and pronounced the word vase as though it rhymed with ‘base’. No one ever corrected me that, but somehow I finally figured it out on my own - several times when a friend was actually pronouncing it correctly. It’s true however that a feedback from people is important, it also increases our knowledge on the things we don’t understand.

So here are some few comments which I’ve picked randomly from July entries. Interesting. I guess it’s nice to see polite messages from people rather than the dating sites, sex related stuff or dildos from so-called SPAMMERS.

It’s now my turn to share ‘Thank You’ for all the four letter “KIND” word I found in all your comments just to end the Month of July.

WTF, did i just say that?! oh well, undies or no undies, anything will do but i love wearin’ the lacy kinda stuff, soft to the skin and no irritatin’ garters or elastic thingies! - by Mayang

It would be embarrassing to go without and have a mishap at a wedding, so I didn’t go bare. But it is traditional. I know a few who claim to skip the skivvies. The only way to really find out is to, erm, as the song goes…. “she slipped her hand up there and said: Sir, that’s gruesome. was his reply: If ye put yer hand up there again, you’ll find it grew-some more….” - by Mick

Good choice for the perfume. I think it’s a great idea to explore and try different brands. My way of figuring out what to buy? I just buy it and try it on - IF it does not appeal to me really I mix it or as they say “layer” it with a totally contrasting scent, then the smell comes out differently. Hence, it’s always best to have lots of it.Oh well, at least a few bottles open to layer. - by Isay

    Thanks spacepope for the picture.

I found your picture by searching the tag-name “words” in flickr pool. I normally put a flickr image to all my posts depending on what’s the mood of my entry and link to the original image uploaded by flickr members.

  2. spacepope4u says:

Interesting post. I found it by googling my screenname, kidicarus222. Out of curiosity, how did you come to find the handwriting image, which I posted on my flickr account?

Ah, your quite close to the translation, K. It’s Malay (both languages are similar, in some ways) :) It means: “I’ll go to this blog again when I have more time, yeah?”

  4. Jack Yan says:

It’s definitely pronunciation, in spelling and in sound. That is one where I would be stricter on!

  5. K says:

Saya pergi ke blog ini lagi kalau saya ada more time, ye?

Is that an Indonesian language? Which means “enjoy blogging while you have lots of time, yeah?”

Use coComent, it’s a great service really.

  6. Mentatoh says:

I’ll keep blogging, even if I don’t receive comments from anyone :) I really like it how you can make a lot of friends in the blogging world despite being in places where the timezone differs by a few hours :P Saya pergi ke blog ini lagi kalau saya ada more time, ye?

  7. K says:

Everyone’s special in every little way. My goal on this is to meet and make friends with everyone. Giving someone a little pat in the shoulder can make you feel a little better, not just by returning the favor really but because you are always be a part of this blog.

    “Devirginized”? Diba masakit yun?

As for your iPod, I can tell from the way you scream ORGASMIC. Just don’t bring it with you in the shower.

  8. grace says:

tito K!!! you truly know how to warm a person’s heart! you make me feel special just by mentioning me in your blog :) aaaaawwwwh!

i remember it was Duke who devirginized my comment box :) and then my every favorite visitor … you!

PS: goodness gracious! my ipod is soooooo ORGASMIC!!! laaaaaav IT!!!

  9. K says:

For as long as I’m still blogging, I will keep doing it. You guys are the reason why I’m here, and vice versa.

Hehehe you know me, I would always change themes but never change blog again. Promise.

  10. consuela says:

cool posting K! :) and thanks for the mention…hehehe *blush*

    pretty pure milky look…
now, let’s get down and boogie out to Janet Jackson’s song “Call on Me”

  11. K says:

Usually the common errors of mispronounced words results to talking it rapidly or maybe it’s just my mother tongue that did the mispronounciation often I would just say it even if they think it’s wrong. Say like, a word “often” is pronounced without the [t] , we can master the correct spelling so well, but in some cases its spelling influences the pronounciation and it would sound like an “open”.

Or in the same manner, pronounciation is often mispelled us pronunciation - it sounded the same but we mispelled this all the time, don’t you think? hehehe.

  12. Jack Yan says:

Vays is correct as a pronunciation for vase in some places, if I am not mistaken, in American English. I say you should pronounce the words as you see fit unless they cause misunderstandings, and most English speakers would accept vase as you originally pronounced it. (Thank you for the link, too!)

  13. K says:

Hehehe meeya, that’s very english “TWO-MA-TOO”. When I was younger, I thought that ENGLISH refers to as the Americans.

And now that I’m here, I would pick up words a bit funny. British english becomes more interesting even in the small form of spelling. A word between “CENTER” to “CENTRE” are spelled differently and it still sounded the same. While, “WHILST” to “WHILE” seemed so wrong to me, and sometimes, I would argue with my BOSS whenever I write few business letters and she would correct me for that.

Thanks to Duke, dun ata kita na-clicked una, you seemed to be a funny person, and for reals you are fun to hang around with, in blogosphere (in real life too, I’m sure)

  14. Meeyagirl says:

vahzz or veyhz, tohmeytow or tomahtoh, it doesn’t matter! as long as the intention is correct, we are all entitled to some leeway. :) i’m really glad we got the chance to bump into each other. sa laki ng blogosphere na ito, i consider it one of the great miracles i’m blessed with. :)

  15. K says:

Great Dice, now I’m in peace. When I heard it at first tho, I thought I was right but I still doubt as to why other pronounce it as “vaz”, thanks for the webster link I listened to it repeatedly and just in case I’ll see that person again, I’ll correct her myself.

How about “vineyard”? Is that pronounce as “VEEN-YARD” or the first two syllables pronounce as “bi”? During my HS days, our teacher would pronounce “TERRACE” as “TE-RAZ” referred to in Spanish as “TERRAZA”? Ugh.

    Thanks, tho.

  16. Dicesix says:

Hey K! Gee, I had to go to http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/vase to check if my vase pronounciation was correct. I prounounce it “vayyze”. Nobody corrected your pronounciation because it was correct as well. Just wanted to let you know ;)

  17. K says:

That was a year ago I think, Ate. WOW na-alala mo pa? That’s why my real heroes in life are the MOTHERS out there who wakes up early, feed their kids, taking care of your “underwears” when you’re younger and doing the right thing.

Syempre, the whole family was saddened and devastated about her surgery. Mabuti nga daw naagapan. When I saw her a month after the surgery, nanghina tuhod ko - can’t imagine how brave she really was (and still is). I could feel the pain, hindi lang basta sugat na maliit yun pero, nung sinabe nya sa amin, “don’t worry I’ll be fine” medyo natakot kami but then, we always put the trust in HIM up there.

Salamat ha? Matawagan nga ulet bukas.

  18. Beng says:

i remember the first time i entered your site you wrote about your mother who was sick that time. at that very moment, i could feel the sadness and loneliness in you. kulang nalang na tanungin kita: how could i cheer you up :)

  19. K says:

Way to go JV. True, true, everyday experiences is what makes your blogs interesting - since it’s a personal blog, it always become interactive. And we often wondered., “How Did we get here”?

Personal blogs often creates a big circular audience (Well I see that to all fellow pinoy-blogs), I’d become a part-time writer (kuno) but it’s all about finding and maintaining a community of like-minded thinkers just like you, who can be part of the whole conversation. It’s not about popularity really or being top of every TOP blog sites and it’s easy - - easy to start a blog, write one or two paragraphs and you’re at it, little knowledge are required, easy to connect with other people. You can post from work (like right now, ssshhh!), school or home.

Besides I have music on my sidebar while I eat with my muffin as I read your blogs. You can do anything you like in it. It’s yours so who’s going to get mad at you, right?

  20. JV says:

Hey K! I love this post! I published my formal blog in blogger, but I deleted it because it has a lot of annoying spammers! Nakakatuwa at nakakapagbigay inspirasyon nga kapag may nagcocomment sa isang blog at isang paraan na rin upang makameet ng mga bagong kaibigan. Blogging is so much fun. When someone comments on something, a chemical reaction and a kick just builds up inside that you couldn’t even resist; and you just want to keep on posting because you are inspired to do so. Commenting is just one way to learn on how to improve our skills and abilities, creativity & imagination, learning from constructive criticisms, learning new things and ideas, and being able to relate/integrate to the everyday experiences of everyone in the blogosphere.

  21. K says:

To my knowledge, a header minus an image makes the browsing in your blog easier. This theme needs deconstructions, number of comments should be numbered, the sidebar needs a perfect width/length but the one I like here is the WHITE background and the clean comment box. Someone from wordpress has already sent a feedback to upgrade this theme, so I’m hoping they’ll also put image costumization to all the themese out there. I’m thinking of the Kurbrick theme but…

  22. range says:

Cool about the flickr badge you made. I think that when this theme gets a header image, it will be pretty nifty. You can always insert a logo into a text widget on the top of the sidebar if you want to, that works too.

  23. K says:

Exactomento Sir Neko - whatever you do, write or something in your blog, chances are someone will visit & read you - those are the people that makes a blog, a BLOG, including yourself.

I’m catching up with my bloghopping - I have so many links to click, I’ll make it up to most of you.

    Thanks.

  24. neko says:

as i always say: good writers and cool sites are a dime a dozen, but good readers are priceless… :)

  25. K says:

I’ve come across into some blogs and found that the author replies like a long lectures, sooo long that I feel like unwelcomed. I do like long comments tho but as long as they are to the point, I won’t mind. Everyone appreciates quality, right?

BTW, thanks for the nice visit, Caryn.

  26. Caryn says:

Fun idea! I find myself biased against those blogs that don’t allow comments. To me, the interaction is a big reason to have a blog in the first place, and to read others’ blogs. Sure, the writing on many of the commentless blogs is terrific, but so is the writing in the stack of books I have yet to read–and the writing on the comment-enabled blogs I read, as well.

  27. K says:

That’s true Charles, we create friends and learnt at each other - (although I’m a bit puzzled that I do get more spam comments these days than legit comments), but even so, I do not moderate my comments anymore just to allow people to speed up their discussions and make replies to them or whatever is being said about the post.

I’m not a big fan of imposing commenting-rules anymore although when I reply to each of your comments, it is heck a lot of work to do, but I’m enjoying it.

  28. That is true as what range said that a blog is a way of interaction. I don’t really care about the hits. The important stuff are the readers and commenters. That’s what also keeps me going.

  29. K says:

Hi Pari - you’re right, I think this is my 3rd installment into changing themes, it goes with the seasonal mood. I’m a fickle minded person, I can’t decide at once but for all I care, I do enjoy playing with templates - wordpress just let you do the clicking, no HTML-headaches.

I got to say that you’re one of the first RBJ people I linked to when I first started on the network.

Wow I’m surprised, I really didn’t know that. I changed my screen name to a short “K” as others find it rather difficult to spell the “Knoizki” (with the silent “K” as your pronounce it.)

    How are things?

  30. pari says:

Did you change layout again since the last time I visited? Or is it my computer… gah, so many posts to catch up on. Anyway I remember my first commenter. He’s my ex. :p

I got to say that you’re one of the first RBJ people I linked to when I first started on the network. When you used to leave comments with KnOizKi before it was shortened to a cool ‘K’.

  31. K says:

You’re welcome JC. Hey when you write your name like that, it sounds very foreign to me, it builds a new identity to my commenting moderation. Glad it didn’t went thru the Spams hahaha.

I find it really interactive. Leaving a comment on someone’s weblog is like walking into your living room and joining in on a conversation. In real life, there are some people who are a pleasure to converse with, and some who are not, right?

  32. thanks for quoting me, k. i enjoy visiting your blog and reading your entries. i like how you give us a glimpse of you as a person. i think that makes blogs successful. i have said this time and time again, it is not about inviting people, rather it is leaving your front and back door open for people to easily enter. cheers!

  33. K says:

You know me quite well now, I like minimalistic/clean theme, nothing fancy anymore. This theme lacks extra plugins but simple and lighter gives the thumbs up, right?

My pleasure Duke, it’s not really about the numbers that counts, it’s about showing that you care. I care about my audience. I care about your time, your attention, and probably about what you’ve paid in time and money (I know some of us would be in cafe just to go online, I care about those audience). I care because that’s the kind of person I am, I guess.

  34. duke says:

    KNOIZKI!!!!

first of all.. NEW LOOK! I like the MILK Theme :D
I am honored to have you as one of my blogfriends. This post is so cool.
    bow ako sayo ;)

  35. K says:

Thanks Jason. I must admit, I don’t have any serious/decent posts but in a way I’m just trying to write what comes out either directly or emotionally - like I’m talking to you face-to-face. I also like using jokes in reference to what I wrote but I’m just being specific.

Blogosphere is so huge that I think it is best to write funny and exciting posts at the same time. Some first time visitors would not understand what you’re trying to say if you’re not specific with the post. So it’s best to put links in reference to what you are telling them.

Sometimes it sucks that I tend to make it a habit of talking about me all the time - it’s like a MEME game, but very infectious.

  36. Jason Drohn says:

Great article. It is nice to comment and create discussion. I leave comments everywhere I go. It is fun to see what someone else is thinking. I live in the US and it seems to me that there are way more bloggers in other parts of the world (luckily, written in English). I just started about a month ago and I love to see new people on my site. Your layout rocks by the way!

  37. K says:

Getting used to the whole layout really. There is still something wrong with this theme. It’s a bit outdated, good for simple blogging. I noticed that the width of the writing space needs to be “stretched” a little wider. I think I like it too (I hope for a few months) - you never know, wordpress is getting better and better these days.

On flickr badge, I made it up myself, nothing related to the rss feeds so it’s a static picture.

  38. range says:

Hey, I like the new theme and the new flickr badge!

  39. K says:

Thanks Asha, I could honestly remember - it was the “shoutbox” which you leave comments in diff nicknames like you were hiding from someone else. I was using a black theme, even if you didn’t understand the topic, at least Mr Brownie’s photos keeps you from coming back, right?

Blogspot was so damn popular that time (hahaha sorry no pun intended) & I would post cranky entries (even up to now). And I called you “The Woman”. Until when you changed your writing format, it’s now then that I started calling you by name “Asha”.

  40. Asha says:

K, you’ve got to believe me… the very first time I started bloghopping… yours was the only one which captivated me. Really… the blogspot one; was in love with it. Oh, from a passer by then, I’m now known as Asha to you :P
Hmm, actually I think reading blogs sorta inspired me to blog.

That was a nice way to end the month of july K. Happy August!

  41. K says:

You’re welcome Jane. Naku baka magtampo yung ibang di ko na-quote.

Well, this is like another chatroom really, more or less a forum. Honestly I’ve never been to any kind of forums except the one in wordpress. Sometimes I just hate it when moderators just shut you off and tells you to just “go read the FAQ”.

In blogging, I don’t really take myself too seriously (depending on my mood I guess) That’s why I keep changing themes.

  42. jane says:

hello K, touched naman ako napost yung isang comment ko, he he. comments on my blog make me smile :) and i make it a point to post comments on the blogs i read, it’s my way of sharing what I know/think about their posts. i think it’s cool, chatting in blogs.
    new layout, eh love it!

  43. K says:

I think I’m just being so passionate with this blog commenting & blog readings. Sometimes we don’t have to behave as someone we are not, but if you got out there and CARE about the topic and audience, we make sure that it shows (in the first place, why would you be in someone’s blog if you don’t care, right?).

I, too in most instances mispelled words (but it is my grammar that I believe needs practice) but yeah, it’s always fun when we make mistakes, there’s excitement in there somehow.

  44. range says:

I love the post, a blog is about interaction and comments. The first comment on my post was probably from some guy correcting a spelling mistake, ie censor vs censure. I wanted to use censor but ended up using censure.
