it’s all about the taxis, billboards, sidewalks, cinemas, zebra lines, lights, sounds, people, skyscrapers and shopping malls.

I used to believe: The Weather

Silvery water droplets

When I was a child, I used to believe that when it rained, God was taking a shower and rainbows would appear a few minutes after which then forms like a stairs to reach the Heaven. I often wondered where the Heavens really is.

But then I thought that thunder was the sound of a super-size rock from Heaven rolled above the earth because God was mad at people who have sinned. And still, I believed that if you make loud noises during a thunder storm, the thunder will get louder and louder. So, when we were little, depending on our mood we’d either be very quiet, or be as noisy as possible.

Then today, a typhoon was just hoisted earlier this evening. I believed that the thunderstorm was having an argument over my three days off. I don’t understand, whenever I planned on a more meaningful event, the weather just can’t leave me alone. Sucker!

When I was a kid, I used to believe that thunders were made when God made a strike with his bowling ;) keep safe with the weather!

Hahah Duke, yes I thought so. Do you think mother nature was a real person?

Wavatar Mayang» added these pithy words on: Jun 29, 2006

duke, did i believe the same story?! thinking back i can’t help but sigh and smile. now all grown-up, everytime i’m having the migraines or my sinusitis is acting up i know it’s about to rain if it’s hot and vice versa!

why not just call me the ‘human barometer’?! at least that’s what my firends call me coz i never miss! :D

“…why not just call me the ‘human barometer’?”

Bwahahah, so silly! for some weird reason, I had the same experienced, if I’m wearing my favourite leather chinelas, the rain certainly is pouring. Probably God was jealous about it.

I didn’t believe this story, but I had heard that dwarves were releaving themselves on the clouds when it was raining.

Wavatar K» added these pithy words on: Jun 29, 2006

How about when the wind was blowing, do you think that meant the earth was turning? I think when I was child, among many things, my parents led me to believe they were true and I have managed to keep these “tales” to pass on to my little nephews. They actually listened.

Lol. The sun god is sooo happy doing his job, I’m walking under fire with a burnt face. Hmp.

Wavatar K» added these pithy words on: Jun 29, 2006

Asha, tell me what things you tell your kids? Do you tell that the rays of sunshine that came through the clouds was actually God touching the earth? If you did, then you’re such a liar!

I was always told that thunder was God moving his furniture around.

I love the sound of rain on my roof. Unfortunately, I don’t have a roof these days, just a ceiling. When it rains, though, I can still hear it hitting the little bit of balcony that pokes out over the laneway.

When it’s raining my favourite thing to do is go back to bed and read. Hope you found something similar to do with your day.

“When it’s raining my favourite thing to do is go back to bed and read.”

Scared maybe? I would actually go to bed and sleep, you know it’s always nice to listen to the thunder & rain when you’re in bed. I believed that God was probably using a vacuum cleaner, cleaning the dusk on Earth. Hahaha.

it’s raining in the Phils. right, at least it’s raining mostly during the day. ahhh, always loved the rainy season back home, most people would say they love summer. i on the other hand, loved rain pouring down hard. the sound it makes on the roof makes me feel calm, the wetness like a soothin balm… i miss home and i will be soon… :)

Wavatar K» added these pithy words on: Jun 29, 2006

If it’s raining or ‘typhoon-ing’ in Pinas, most likely we get the same weather here. I do love summer. If you are in Bicol, the weather is really cool and you easily get a crispy tan even if you’re not in the beach. In Manila, considered yourself pissed dahil BAHA parati.
Does it ever rain in UAE?

Wavatar c.trinity» added these pithy words on: Jun 29, 2006

That means something,you know.Lol!
Maybe the weather is just telling you:Lay down and listen to the rain.Relax and hear the sound of the nature.
In other words, have 3 days od long good sleep.Eheheheh!
I love rain.

Wavatar K» added these pithy words on: Jun 29, 2006

That’s true. If you’re living in the City, I don’t appreciate this kind of weather. Besides the only thing I do on days off is to go walk outside without carrying an umbrella or a yellow raincoat. However, it did saved my spending. I stayed home all day listening to online radio.. and smoke surf the net. Whopps!

No rain over here in MTL, it’s wet heat. The air con is functioning, rain will come. Not torrential rains, but some drizzles. I’m waiting for a good rainshower to take some pics for the memoirs on a rainy day.

“I’m waiting for a good rainshower to take some pics for the memoirs on a rainy day.”

At least you gave a few good reason to capture nature in your lens. Unlike here when the malls and other place to stroll is good for just a few minutes walk, rain is just a pain in the behind.

why? why? why?!!! what’s between you and Mr Weather! this is my only advice … dont let Mr Weather know when’s your next weekend happening … sssssshhhh … keep it a secret … i bet you Mr Weather wont be able to spoil the next! heheheheheh :)

Wavatar K» added these pithy words on: Jun 29, 2006

I know, I’m pissed off. I was really looking forward for a bright sunshine & wanted to do other things than going online but God just spilled his sugar and he was crying because I’m a terrible person and then it suddenly stopped and was happy again that I stayed home.

K - For soem reason, I have high respect for Mother Nature. I do not want to see her wrath!

on Mayang - at one point, I think I believed what my parents told me about thunders. Gullible pa ako noon!

Wavatar K» added these pithy words on: Jun 29, 2006

“..I have high respect for Mother Nature..”

When I was in my college, I often hear people saying, “nature’s calling”. In some point I asked, what is it? Now tell me why we say that? Are we shy to admit we have dirty thoughts about going to the loo?

Wavatar Jack Yan» added these pithy words on: Jun 29, 2006

I was always told the facts about thunder and lightning, but that didn’t make them any less scary!

Wavatar K» added these pithy words on: Jun 29, 2006

Same here Jack, but whenever there’s a thunder and lightnings, it is often associated with “Cemetery, Haunted House and evil spirits”, why is that?

Wavatar Mayang» added these pithy words on: Jun 29, 2006

‘does it ever rain in UAE?’

it’s lucky when it rains once or twice in a freakin’ year here K! as in this place is like on drought always! you’ll never survive without AC! ugh!

we live in Cebu City in pinas, better there coz no floods even if it rains hard unlike in Manila back when we used to live there. :D

Wavatar K» added these pithy words on: Jun 29, 2006

Uy Visaya ka gyud? Gi-atay diha. Unsa Cebu City? Never been there but you know I find Cebuanos happy & funny people, parang mga Bicolanos. I think it’s the dialect that makes it funny and unique.

You think? Naku baka magalit mga Ilocano nyan just kidding. LOL.

Wavatar Mayang» added these pithy words on: Jun 29, 2006

not really Cebuana, but i consider myself an adopted Cebuana, i was born in manila and grew up there, we jst transferred to Cebu since it’s more peaceful there and my dad’s Cebuano. :)
yup, Cebuanos are one happy bunch of people! that’s i love them! :D

Wavatar K» added these pithy words on: Jun 29, 2006

And how long have you been living in UAE? How’s life away from the family in Cebu?

My sis likes to go to find a job there but I declined about her recent plans, afraid that it might not be too easy for her to work in a hospital. I’m sorry to give you the impression but I just thought it’s really not safe. But I’m glad you’re enjoying it there.

Ooops!Still smoking?
At the end of day 20,i mean last night,i indulged myself half of a cigarette.I am so going to go in hell for that.

Wavatar K» added these pithy words on: Jun 29, 2006

Hey Trinity. Honestly, I still do, but I smoke moderately now - slowly but surely going in the right place. One whole day, I didn’t, other times, I only had 3 sticks and that’s why I encourage myself to shoppe around - it helps when I tend not to stay too long in my blog.

Don’t be silly, of course it’s OK to smoke a little but I thought you were already ZERO nicotine?
