But I don’t bite.
I’ve been thinking the other day that I’m probably be needing some fun rest and time away from this blog, not that I’m nagging on a hiatus plight, but I really am. I just thought if I want to be a horsefly, I’m in capable of flying a long distance to be in an inactive state of period and spend the already sunny summer while I’m starting to quit on my smoking.
I believe that the human body needs the touch of nature along with the touch of human skin. One of the simplest ways to release tension and to energize ourselves is to take time out for a good stretch. I want to hear what my body is telling me about its relationship to food and to embrace sounds, smell and beautiful sights.
In the meantime, I’m leaving you a few questions which I primarily requesting your honest answer to the following:
1. How long have you been blogging?
2. Are you addicted to blogging? Is it a habit-forming? Be honest.
3. Have you ever taken a hiatus? If so, for what reason and how long?
4. Have you ever thought of giving up your blog? Why or Why not?
Promise just for a short while.

1. How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging since 1998. I did take a hiatus from 2003 till early this year, mainly because of my career.
2. Are you addicted to blogging? Is it a habit-forming? Be honest.
I don’t find blogging addictive, I enjoy sharing and writing. It’s a way to showcase parts of yourself easily.
3. Have you ever taken a hiatus? If so, for what reason and how long?
Almost 3 years, to think about my experience, to concentrate on my career, because in 2003, I was away from home a lot.
4. Have you ever thought of giving up your blog? Why or Why not?
No. Blogging has been a positive experience for me. I don’t always get into the nitty gritty stuff and I don’t blog about work, wouldn’t want to get dooced.
Hi K: I think you should do what is best for you and what you feel could be worthwhile, so if it’s a blog hiatus, then you should do it. You’ll come back refreshed and I don’t think it will take long for you to find all your readers, should you choose to restart.
1. How long have you been blogging?
Around three years, but only regularly from May 2005.
2. Are you addicted to blogging? Is it a habit-forming? Be honest.
I believe I am addicted but I can walk away, and tend to during the weekdays now.
3. Have you ever taken a hiatus? If so, for what reason and how long?
Yes, when travelling, and for just under one week in most cases.
4. Have you ever thought of giving up your blog? Why or Why not?
Yes, I have. I get a lot of emails and work is usually quite busy, and blogging has been a distraction on some days. I feel productive when I blog, even though it is a hobby, and I am actually not being productive.
1. How long have you been blogging? Since Feb 2004.
2. Are you addicted to blogging? Is it habit-forming? I wouldn’t say I’m addicted to it. More often than not, I have writer’s block, even when I want to blog. It breaks the monotony of everyday life.
3. Have you ever taken a hiatus? If so, for what reason and how long? Inadvertently, I’ve went for a few weeks without blogging due to school, work, and travelling. But, consciously, I’ve never taken a hiatus.
4. Have you ever thought of giving up your blog? No, it would break my heart if it was ever accidentally deleted. It’s like a diary for me–a chronical of my life. Plus, it’s a way of keeping in touch with friends.
**Do what you gotta do, take that long stretch, and when you come back, you’ll be refreshed.
K! Are you having a great weekend so far? How’s the ciggie quit session coming along? let’s go out for some ice cream and tiramisu…my treat! *hugs*
1. How long have you been blogging?
Since March 2004.
2. Are you addicted to blogging? Is it a habit-forming? Be honest.
In some ways I think I am…especially when I have too much free
time on my hands. I blog to share my experiences and kodak
moments with friends as well as to try and improve my writing
skills and english.
3. Have you ever taken a hiatus? If so, for what reason and how long?

Yes I have. It’s usually when I am away travelling and
sometimes over the weekend. The longest was last year Oct/Nov
when I travelled back to Malaysia. It was just to painful to blog via
dial-up (yeah, I know I’m spoiled!)
4. Have you ever thought of giving up your blog? Why or Why not?
No, not give up but instead take a couple leave of absenses and
not blog as frequent as I do now. I have to admit that yes
blogging has become a distraction for me and now that I’m back
in school, I have to manage my time better between school, work
and personal life; put my assignments and homework first, and
then everything else comes after I’m done!
1. How long have you been blogging?
Interactive blogging — since March 2005. Posting journal entries and writing (without ability for visitors to comment) on static webpages, since about January 2004.
2. Are you addicted to blogging? Is it a habit-forming? Be honest.
Honestly…. Yes, but I’d like to clarify. I am addicted to writing, not the blogging aspect as much. If I didn’t have the ability to write a blog, I’d write as much as I do now. Why do I post it in a public forum? Because sometimes it forces me to think harder when I have a potential audience — the writing of a higher caliber and the “deep thoughts” better argued; both of which because I don’t like looking bad in public.
Blogging can be habit forming. But I think it is what you do with blogging that weighs in on whether it is a bad habit or not. I used to spend most of my time trying to stir up politics and get people to take action in their lives. The problem was, I neglected my real purpose (writing and journaling) and got abusive with my attitudes. A friend pointed out to me that you never gain allies when you call contrary viewpoints “idiotic” and “stupid”, and I have sinc eleft those things to other people with much more anger than I can muster these days. Anger, along with posts that do nothing more that chronicle the mundane things in people life — I don’t know if that’s very good blogging.
People who have a purpose, or paint a picture of their thoughts — I know that is better blogging.
I don’t think it’s a bad habit in most cases. Not always what I want to read when I stumble through the blogosphere, but I don’t see much bad blogging.
3. Have you ever taken a hiatus? If so, for what reason and how long?
I took a haitus for a month for the aforementioned reason. I realised that I was spewing anger and I realised that I wanted to be inclusive, not devisive. It took a month of serious thinking before I could once again approach posts with an open mind, a mind that wasn’t quick to insult people with beliefs I didn’t share.
4. Have you ever thought of giving up your blog? Why or Why not?
Yes, several times. Why I didn’t — see question 2. Why I almost did? Because I was frustrated with the “uselessness” of it all — very low readership, no visible activism resulting from my posts, feeling like too much was being shared without my permission about my personal life by my friends…
I haven’t, because…. Well, there’s enough vanity in me to think that people might like some of what they read on my site — even if they don’t comment often.
Hope that helps.
Mick, briefly off-topic, I have to say I really enjoy your writing and your writing style. I will need to look up lugubrious. I didn’t comment not because I didn’t enjoy what I read; it was more that I enjoyed it so much I could not add anything that might be useful.
Thanks for the kind words, JY. I’l have to spend more time checking out your site.
Hey K! You’re right, this CoCommenting is addictive when it starts to work. BTW — I gave up smoking a few years ago and, for the most part don’t miss it any longer… Today is a different mood, but I haven’t broken down in the past week that has been part of my “different mood” — you can do it. And you’ll thank yourself for it, even though it might be hard to endure the first few weeks.
hey k! hope your still on track to quitting smoking.
anyhoo..
1. How long have you been blogging?
3 years next month.
2. Are you addicted to blogging? Is it a habit-forming? Be honest.
yes it is. i’ve always wanted to keep a diary. what is more habit-forming is tracking the updates of the blogs i read (yours included obviously)
3. Have you ever taken a hiatus? If so, for what reason and how long?
maybe a week. mostly because of work.
4. Have you ever thought of giving up your blog? Why or Why not?
well not in the meantime. there are days when so much is happening that its hte last thing you want to do but then there are days that everything just flows and there’s so much to record, say…as long as the latter keeps on happening i dont think i’m shutting down my blog anytime soon.
Mick, thank you! The coCo addiction is worse with tabbed browsers because you know you can leave that window open with the comment index … in the old days without tabbed browsers, I am sure we spent less time surfing!
1. How long have you been blogging?
I’ve been blogging since April 4th, when I bought my own domain and webspace. It was pretty much an impulse buy, and then I actually started to enjoy it.
2. Are you addicted to blogging? Is it a habit-forming? Be honest.
Not exactly, I sometimes deprive my readers and forget to post everyday, even though I try to blog about something everyday. Most often, I don’t have good stories, but I do my best to give my readers something to enjoy!
3. Have you ever taken a hiatus? If so, for what reason and how long?
I’ve taken a few trips, in which case I had to go on hiatus, but nothing for over 5 days.
4. Have you ever thought of giving up your blog? Why or Why not?
Never! I love my blog
Yeah, coCo is pretty cool. You are always aware about what is happening in your corner of the blogosphere.
hi K! i think a respite would be just great. you don’t have to quit blogging, though. you probably just need to recharge and refresh. or maybe i’m just saying that because i have been blogging for months only…
in any case, i wish you’d enjoy your vacation, rest, hiatus, or whatever you would want to call it. just make it temporary, ok K?
1. How long have you been blogging?
- Almost 2 years… since august 2004
2. Are you addicted to blogging? Is it a habit-forming? Be honest.
- Though I do admit it’s kinda addictive… i’m having doubts already about the word “addiction” or isit mere obsession? obligation maybe? *sheesh*
3. Have you ever taken a hiatus? If so, for what reason and how long?
- No, haven’t actually declared one yet.
4. Have you ever thought of giving up your blog? Why or Why not?
- Used to have that thought but not now… cos I could always go on a hiatus as and when i want to and then be back if i ever decide to. That’s for the fickle minded me.
So there.
Sheesh, K.. look at what quitting smoking did to you.. you are going all crazy over it
You can overcome this, you can?
1. How long have you been blogging? Since December 2005 - I’m a blogging baby. However, I’ve kept a journal on paper for much, much longer. I’m now trying to find a balance between the public and the private.
2. Are you addicted to blogging? Is it a habit-forming? Be honest. Addicted? Possibly not. Obsessed? Very likely. I’m finding that it’s starting to become a habit - a good one compared to all my other habits (caffeine, nicotine, etc). I’d like to get it to the point where I think of it as my obligation to readers and to myself. However, I think I’m probably more addicted to reading others’ blogs and then I get all insecure about my writing and so tend not to post as regularly as I could. I think I need to get past that and just write.
3. Have you ever taken a hiatus? If so, for what reason and how long?
Not declared. I did take a brief break of ten days and didn’t blog during that period. Does that count?
4. Have you ever thought of giving up your blog? Why or Why not?
Occasionally I’ve thought of just giving it all up. Usually because of low readership and the feelings associated with that (ie., no-one’s reading why am I bothering?). However, it’s early days yet but the more days I put in the harder it will be to even contemplate giving it away.
And K, do as others have said, and do whatever you need to do
WHAAAT??? no K no! dont be a horse… or afly.. just be u. lol gil nde ko kya pag wla ka. (asus). me im a flying horse (pegasus) *sabay iwas sa bato ni k ng prof*

How long have you been blogging? 2004
Are you addicted to blogging? Nope but it’s a habit and a hobby.
Have you ever taken a hiatus? If so, for what reason and how long?
Several times. For months. I was busy with love.
Have you ever thought of giving up your blog? Why or Why not?
Oh yes. At least once a month. But right now,i’m into it, it’s like a therapy for me.
wassup bud? stay cool, do what you have to do and take it easy, your readers will always be here for you, when you are ready to actively blog again. but i know you can’t go on a long hiatus, blogging is your life and hobby now, you’re such a good writer, you see a thing and an idea will suddenly pop out, blog na!
How long? since May 2004. Wow. didn’t realize that it’s been that long.
Addicted? I used to think so. But now it’s more of a vent. Could be switched on or off.
Hiatus? Several times. But not for too long. Maybe a couple of weeks. This is my only inexpensive way of letting steam out. So I’m gonna need it often. For the most part, the source of the steam is the source of the hiatus. Chicken and egg, really.
Giving it up? Not at all. I don’t write literature anymore. At least I can write about daily mundane things.
Ingatz K, sa iyong paglipad bilang isang horsefly. Bumalik ka ha.
K, take a break and come back. Do it on your own time, because the most important person to you, is yourself.
Those are very wise words, Range.
okay I’ll try this one..
1. Well, been blogging for almost a year now if you include my first blog.
2.Well, yeah u can say that I am a bit addicted since it allows me to express my innermost desires.
3. Not yet. I have so much to talk about! hehehehe
4. Well, I gave up my first blog to make way to the new one and certainly wont give this up one now.
Well K, just take things easy man but if you are going in a hiatus I’ll surely miss you!
. How long have you been blogging?
2005 jan
2. Are you addicted to blogging? Is it a habit-forming? Be honest.

no not give up
its fun but am out of the loop these days
how are you sweetie?
we are off to italy next week 3 weeks of cruising
Ooh, wish I could be in Italy for three weeks’ cruising. Particularly as it’s winter down here.
tito k … follow what your heart tells you to do … if you have to let go of blogging (hope just for a while) then so be it! there are sooooo much things waiting for you outside of this world … and sometimes when we are so occupied with certain things it sometimes keep us from achieving “great” things! so if you have to do something to release you from anxiety i advise you do it! we wont go anywhere … we’re just here
3. Yes, when i travel … the longest was 3 months
1. Been blogging since 2005
2. Not addicted to it …
4. Yes .. well there was really no particular reason .. just thought of stopping …
I’m throwing right now a warm hug for you so that you’d feel better in whatever you’re feeling or dealing with right now … take things at a stride but do not ever lose focus … if you want to achieve something just put your mind to it and for sure you’ll get it
k.. wru na? nwla lang ako nwla ka na rin.. blogging’s not the same without u.. miss u na.
sings: saan ka man naroroon sinta… lalalalala
Thought I’d impress you by singing a filipino song.. but Yuri sang it already

You know I come here like at the very least twice a day… and you know I am missing you already.. now before i start bugging you.. come back and speak to me K… s..p..e..ee..a..k.. to me…e..eee…
Ps: Hope you’re alright… it’s okay if you can’t quit smoking, at least you tried. And you can always try again as and when you like. Okay, tell me I made sense and you understood what I said. Pfftt.
1. Since 3/6/2002.
2. I admit that I used to blog a lot, but it’s not really that much of a habit now. I blog because I want friends to read and know what’s going on with me.
3. I haven’t actually taken a proper hiatus, but there have been times when I didn’t blog for weeks, mostly because I was busy and didn’t feel like it.
4. I have thought about it.. Mostly because blogging is becoming so popular and it’s hard to find privacy.. Also because I don’t know what to write nowadays and at times it becomes quite a chore. But I do enjoy it as well and can’t seem to give it up. Not yet, at least. =P
Hey K! Haven’t been here in a while…I like the new look!

Special high five to YURI for making me laugh
I’m eventually blogging back in a few minutes.
Now my official hiatus is finally over. I’m not going nowhere. As long as we read each other, I suspect I will be more involved in one way or another.
[...] Fearing about my blogging ritual returns - it dramatically forced me to sat down and explain myself, I asked, why am I running away? It’s been days of flying like a horsefly but did I really get into a place where I wanted myself to be? [...]
