Believe me, I would usually nap a few minutes in the toilet after lunch at work, my boss would think that I'm just "cleaning" up my tummy. It's kind of a habit that I can't tolerate.

Well I think KIDS & SLEEP are both related to each other. But nowadays there are kids who suffer from sleep disorder because, they watch too much TV or play XBOX so nawawala na yung sleeping traditional bedtime like nung mga bata pa tayo. Ehem, I do think that mothers, after a long day work in modern household, needs BEDTIME too. Kaso nga lang, pag minsan walang meryenda hindi na ako susunod sa utos next time. But I remember, I was not very pilosopo naman, pinapaypayan pa nga ako nun at may hele-hele song pa.

I nap too and I'm 1.59m. Yeesh.

However, (taken off a googled site) "... research shows that children who nap have longer attention spans and are less fussy than their non-napping peers. "

I don't know about the longer attention span thing as mine is fleeting.. but I can say that as unwelcomed that dreaded 1pm-2pm nap was, it left me feeling calmer when I wake up.

nga pala, korek din yung assumption na yung naps are used by whoever takes care of the children to have some "me" time. hindi biro mag-alaga ng hyperactive toddlers at pilosopong kids noh, hehe. nakakaubos talaga ng energy!

syempre kailangan din ng nanay mag-recharge noh (at mag-blog, like moi!)... or else maaga darating ang wrinkles! :D

as a mom, i've learned that for every "old-wives' tale" passed down to me by my elders, there's some kind of logic behind it. which is why before i subject my daughter to anything weird, i analyze it to pieces. it's a good thing to remember that especially when your turn as a parent comes. :)

as for napping, kids really need them to recharge. kasi sa bilis ng metabolism nila, they need to slow down in the middle of the day or else they will end up overly-tired (which, in adult parlance, equates to Stress). di ba when we're stressed, our bodily functions go amuck. in kids, if they don't get their rest, it stunts their growth and they won't be able to maximize their growth potential, ergo won't grow tall. also, kids who nap regularly sleep better at night. kasi nightmares are brought about by overstimulation - our brains go overtime to try to calm our senses down.

anyway, as for us petite people, i think there's some genetics involved, too, hehe. so don't be too harsh on your childhood traditions, if not for these "kasabihan" we wouldn't be the structured persons that we are now. :)
