Jack into my iPod

What are you listening to, right now? I’d say, I still listen to all my old songs every now & then. I wore all of them out at some point, but I have no intentions of ever getting rid of them, simply they’re still good.
My listening habits tend to go on how my days went, or when the sky is blue or that I just find my day being happier, or songs in the spring & summer, & darker stuff in the fall & winter. But like most teenagers, not that I still am, I was into pop music and hip hop if you can believe. Somewhere along the way I got into rock. I’ve always thought that Life always goes along with the music.
My tastes haven’t changed that much. I’ve always been stranded to playing R&B, KT Tunstall, James Blunt and recently, Train.
Here’s my favourite ten on my rotation.
1. Train - All I Ever Wanted - is to convinced myself that I’d look back and laugh one day. It’s like you know when there’s the whole thing that went wrong, at the end you’ll get stronger. I could play this while travelling back to Bicol in a sunny afternoon on a bus watching the sky, feeling the breeze that collapses my face.
2. KT Tunstall - Silent Sea - as the lyrics tells, “when I find the controls I’ll go where I like. I’ll know where I want to be but maybe for now I’ll stay right here on a silent sea”. It sounded pretty laid-back as you just let the world go by, touching the shore where the children play and dwell forever. Such a soulful voice.
3. Lifehouse - Somewhere In Between - Acoustic ballad. Don’t be surprise, this band has an infectious sound. You will listen to it and nothing else. It feels good to listen to from start to finish. Underneath my feet, there’s this feeling that everything will be back to the way it was. I wish that it was just that easy to tell what’s real and a dream.
4. Jasmine Trias - I Won’t Worry - OK, I’m a fan. This sounded a bit of Mariah Carey’s first few albums, upbeat and it makes you want to dance. She has definately went R&B totally different side of her than the one she showed during her American Idol days. Go Jazzy!
5. Heather Headley - If It Wasn’t For Your Love - Amazing voice melts my heart. It’s predictably a slow and sad song about love and heartache. But just in case I want to be sad sometimes, I’d play this song. Sentimental music makes me able to reminisce all about the people I’d be leaving behind when I’m probably somewhere stranded in the middle of nowhere. Sigh.
6. Renee` Olstead - Someone To Watch Over Me - Melancholy classic. This song was recorded by several singers among which Rosemary Clooney, Doris Day, Judy Garland, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Elton John. During the credits of the movie with the same name (Ridley Scott, 1987) Sting give a great rendering of the tune. I don’t think I still need to tell you why.
7. Kenny Lattimore & Chante` Moore - You’re All I Need To Get By - “What more could I ask than to be loved by you. What more could I need than your embrace on a winter night, your smile on a gloomy day… your touch to chase my fears away”. This song may cause pregnancy that contains some lovemaking grooves. I’m gonna need some answers from somebody on how to live alone, literally.
8. Milky - Be My World - My ultimate groove dance. I absolutely love the beat, lyrics, and Milky’s smooth, engaging voice and it makes this song too good to be true! Why don’t more club songs sound this good? There’s this optimistic atmosphere to this piece. Five (5) stars!
9. James Blunt - You’re Beautiful - “Blunt’s writing is heartfelt and wrapped in the sort of sugary strums that make couples gaze at each other longingly”. Indeed, a beautiful song. It makes you want to be a teenager again and the lyrics always strikes me. The uncertainty at the beginning, and the calm confidence and hope at the end of the song. Wow! Wow! Wow! Man I wish I wrote that song.
10. Trey Songz - Make Love Tonight - “Can we make love tonight, Get the champagne poppin off tonight, with your secrets coming off tonight, Can we make love tonight, Bubble bath with only candlelight, and massage your body bet you’ll like it”. It’s all about SEX - teasin’ touchin’ kissing’ all night long until the sun comes up. An album to make Treyz’ mom really proud.

I think there is a problem when people dont know what is good content for their ipod
i love acid and fusion jazz, love Norah Jones!
i love indie rock too esp. imogen heap/the dresden dolls and the darkness. for rock i’d always go for Bon Jovi, Aerosmith/ Red Hot Chili Peppers for alternative. i’m a sucker for Celtic music so i’d go for Loreena McKennit and Safri Duo for percussion beats. i’m flexible w/ music as logn as you don’t feed me RnB uck! LoL
you`re awesome. http://www.akutan.jalaska.com
Sha - Oh no don’t tell me its the H51 flu? Kidding. I would love to play with your iPod, put music on them and perhaps download the first song called “Unwell”.
Well, GET WELL the soonest! Missyafreakinsomuch around here.
hey dude am sick shit the bloody nose is like a broken pipe
anyhoo. come here load my ipod am too lazy to do it
Who was your favourite? For the guys, I picked for Jason & for the ladies .. what’s with Cass?
I enjoyed their weekly task - and the show went well although I just couldn’t stand the “voice” of Big Brother telling these poor guys to do/not to do stuff at his house. I really really enjoyed the “LOLA/LOLO episodes” - those grannies were just hilarious!
Are you watching the PBB-Celebrity? Totally boring!
“got hooked with Pinoy Big Brother” ….
when i came home last Sept all i was doing every night was to watch PBB! i bought the music and video CDs of PBB!
it feel proud of my race esp when the hear that song …
“…ipakita sa mundo kung ano ang kaya mo.. iba’t ibang Pinoy… wag kang matatakot….ipagmalaki mo…”
I got that one too by Orange and Lemons. I got hooked with Pinoy Big Brother and been playing them in the house all day. Try BAMBOO or HALE, I’m sure you gonna enjoy them.
hey k… im hooked now to my ipod.. everywhere i go.. he goes… im kinda moody so my playlist depends to which state im presently in. i love norah jones and john mayer for example whenever i feel blue. some house music when im grocery shopping.. just imagine me dancing while i push the cart for all i care. but recently i’ve had orange and lemons repeating tirelessly. miss home probably.
Gotcha Gracie, I even searched on the American Idol’s to see if that’s the right song. I have few old Bon Jovi’s Cd, it was from my brothers they play songs from album covers with their band. I wish I knew how to play the guitar or the drums - probably my Dad would have been so proud of me.
I’m sure there’s HMV in India.
by the way, salamas este salamat tito k ha!
tito k … my husband dear loves Bon Jovi’s “It’s My Life” … at first didnt like it but it’s kinda growing on me na
hehehehe …
yah, i think Daniel Powter’s the guy … have to find out whether they have his CD here in India
Hi swartz - I totally understand. I’ve been using CD-DISCman for so many years and how funny it was when I had to carry my whole CD case in my bag all the time. They are pretty big but nowadays they are almost nonexistence. While an iPod, it’s a little device that sometimes, “everybody will want one”. It was launched heavily hyped because it’s a new digital device, although it is not for everyone, it’s totally different, relatively small, large capacity music storage. It’s brilliant! Unfortunately there are also cons on it - somewhat pricey and requires newest system software to be installed. I even returned my iPod after 5 days when I found defects on its LCD.
But it’s your choice, whether you want a thousand worth of songs in your machine or a CD to play over and over again.
Thanks for the visit.
Not a big fan of your picks, but everyone has different taste. As for what’s on my iPod…I don’t own one…maybe I’ll treat myself to one for my birthday…but it is on my to buy list…just as CDs took over tapes…iPods will take over CDs…
Ear noooo they are definately your choices. Well I have few of old pop and noise music on my playlists too like raps. I don’t bother to listen to what they are sayin, mostly vulgarity words within their songs but I still put them on rotation. Yo!
Sadly, I just can’t dig canto-pop around here (no pun intended) it’s just weird.
got different songs for different mood. can’t put in 100+ songs here lol. But for my top 10 songs in order:
Forogj Vilag - Nox (Eurovision 2005)
Numb - Linkin Park (Meteora)
Thunderbirds Are Go - Busted
Nocturne - Cirque Du Soleil (Tapis Rouge - Solarium)
So Far Away - Amici (Defined)
Patzivota - Cirque Du Soleil (Varekai)
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious - Mary Poppins (Disney)
Dragostea Din Tei - Ozone
Holding Out For A Hero - Shrek 2 soundtrack
As the world falls down - David Bowie (Labyrinth)
Yeah I know I’m weird
hahaha Consuela, I knew you gonna react on this one. Quite frankly, I like to download the old songs like jazz & classics but sometimes file sharing utility is more bothering and there are risks still present. I think I have a huge file now and might put them somewhere safe before the RIAA slap me with a lawsuit. Tsk.
Ok I admit, I’m a thief but for as long as I use them for personal use then we can just all get along, can’t we?
cool choices! I listen to all kinds of music…but slow R&B ballads will be my top choice
heather headley - i wish i wasn’t
lifehouse - you and me
babyface - the loneliness
hawaiian style band - love & honesty
benni benassi - i love my sex
currently also digging the asian scene with chinese, korean and jap pop songs
ehhh…and u said you were gonna report me for downloading songs! hah!! you’re no different since you’re using limewire ;P
Hi Pari, been listening to Corrinne, sound very good actually, from the likes of Carole King - and all songs are in English. Neato.
The more recent songs I played to death were “Same side of the Moon” and “Journey” by Corrinne May
I’ve started listening to songs by U2 only recently (don’t ask me what century I was from). What’s their all time best album? I currently have How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb
I’m using Limewire Pro. I hope we are not bothering RIAA for downloading these songs.. hehehe.
Rock still rules
Bon Jovi’s old albums I prefer (I’ll be there for You days) over current. Eliot’s favorite song, whatever phase I am in, is “Beautiful Girl” by INXS.
On downloading I used to have Morpheous and Limewire but now I use uTorrent.
Let There Be Rock, Dez! How about BonJovi’s “Have a Nice Day”? They are arguably rock icons. I’ve never hated them, infact it reminds me of college days when some of us screams like Aerosmith. Where do you download songs (freebies) for your Elliott?
Thanks for sharing your music interests.
Oooh i love that James Blunt song. Right now I’m on a pretty nostalgic stage. Guns ‘n Roses (Estranged & Don’t Cry), Aerosmith (Sweet Emotion era) and Rolling Stones are on Eliot’s frequently played list.
Gracie, I am not sure but I think the dude who sang Bad Day was performed by Daniel Powter. He’s quite a rock/pop artist like Tyler Hilton. Great! now I’m about to download that song.
Tito K … totally agree with you on jazz … that kind of music is “unpredictable” which encapsulates what life really is … never know what to expect
By the way, would you know who sang that song in American Idol that they play as a background for the VPs of those contestants who are evicted? Think it’s called “Bad Day”? Just not sure …
Hahaha Asha, Akon’s best! everytime it plays on my iPod, it reminds me of you and the chipmunks!
Okay, marni said whatever I wanted to say… and yes, agree I like your song selections too K.
*Sings* Lonelyy…. i’m so lonely… i have nobody.. to call my ownnnnnnnnn…..
So true, Marni. These are the songs that makes us want to embrace life, like Jazz music, it’s the truest form to emphathize human emotion. Or the ones that makes us sad and move us more that anything else ever could. Songs that makes us want to sing from a quiet and beauty of nature, from lakes to oceanside, from trees in all stages of color to flowers and butterflies — all of these restore our spirit and make our life sing!
There will always be some songs that I return to. Some songs that I know will always be a part of me. I can’t stop listening to them coz they remind me of some point or someone in my life. songs have a way of doing that to you, I guess.
BTW, I’ve always loved your choices in music.
