An old “friend” of mine gave me a Louis Vuitton hand bag. It’s the Damier Geant Compagnon canvas made of ultra strong synthetic fibres with the classic adjustable shoulder strap. It’s a unisex bag perfectly sized between a compact city bag and a full size messenger, just perfect thing to keep a contact diary book for prospects clients on my networking sideline job. Take note, the packets are marked Louis Vuitton Paris. Neato. Inside the bag is durable synthetic lining with a numerous pockets. Handsome bag.

But guess what, this bag is only a replica of the real McCoy. My friend must have travelled from the neighbouring province of Shenzhen China where you can buy many logo bags in a 10th storey mall. Also, they are everywhere around in Hong Kong, specially near those tourist spots and have them laid out on blankets. But no shit, it looks so real. However, I still am amazed anyone around here woud really buy the real Vuittons even if they are really expensive. If anyone is willing to shell out that much for a bag — well, it’s their money so they can dispose it however they want. Trademarks and copyrights seems to mean anything anyway, right?

I know, I know, buy knockoffs if you want, but they’re not very convincing to anyone who’s ever owned the real thing. Why do you want a knock-off anyway? I’m a bag-fooker, I mean I love bags without the designer logo names. The one that I have been using is my 5 years old green Dodger for outdoors & travelling.

For the meantime, I’ll be using this first knock-off bag and hoping it would last for a few months, afterall I have nothing to worry on the wear and tear. Shit, it’s stealing, right?

Oh well, sometimes I still buy my CD.
