oscars.comJust a quickie update on the Oscars - when I opened my TV this morning, I saw JLo walking in the stage, wearing a lighter green gown with a fitted bodice that laced up in the back like a corset, one of the presenter.

And the Winner is … Who won what? What were the big surprises and who were the big winners?

“It’s a funny thing about winning an Academy Award. This will always be synonymous with your name from here on end”.

— George Clooney after winning his first Oscar, for supporting actor in Syriana.”

“Oh my goodness. I never thought I’d be up here in my whole life, growing up in Tennessee.”

— Reese Witherspoon, winner of best actress for “Walk the Line.”

“I do my own stunts.”

— Jennifer Garner, after nearly tripping on her way to the microphone to present an award.

“I wish I knew how to quit you.”

— Ang Lee, best director for “Brokeback Mountain.”

Meanwhile, Naomi Watts who were snubbed, should have been nominated in one of the major categories - she is more than simply a delightful presence in “King Kong”. She makes the audience believe that the special effect is a living, breathing creature; that she did it while performing opposite air is testament to her craft.

And, Three 6 Mafia, the first hip-hop who performed at the awards show singing “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp” from the “Hustle & Flow” soundtrack won the golden statue. They must be kidding, right? Well at least they should have used a G-rated version of the song.

I missed that. For some reason it didn’t show up in the tv schedule. Oh well. Not really excited about this year’s Oscars. Last year…that was the best. I was jumping up and down at 4 am shouting at the TV “GO LOTR GO LOTR” and boy they went out with a bang. The best Oscars ever.

    How’s your weekend? :)

Congrats to the first Asian to win the Best Directorial at the Academy. HK was celebratring and were disappointed it didn’t snatched the Best Picture. Two ladies were arguing at the Starbucks near the IFC mall in Central whether it was the “best film” or “best movie”, so clueless that I’d butt-in telling them “BEST PICTURE and didn’t win”. ;)
