I’m not sure whether I’m ready for some Network Marketing business. With this in mind I see how hard it is actually working for me. I see that most people are already doing these, everyday but how powerful it really is?
I was invited by one of our clients to meet her at Starbucks in Queensway this afternoon and I had no idea why suddenly she asked me for a cup of a caramel macchiato. She’s Canadian married to a Canadian Chinese, a very cool person, although she’s older, she’s into the IN thing most ‘younger’ people, like having funky gadgets, wears trendy clothes and into Evians and all those glamorous stuff at the Lane Crawford - who btw talks so well-poised while she looks straight into your eye making sure that you really listen to what she is telling you. Simply known to many in my department, a business consultant with a trendy outfit that matches her different hairstyles.
So I arrived few minutes earlier. As I sat on the couch, nothing I had in my mind but to contemplate on the “mmmm she must be asking me another favor”. I had her business card on my hand and that I’d pretty much suspect she would be selling me stuff & ask if I want an extra income. So basically, I will be working with her to get into the business. However, most people, like myself who thinks that I’d rather just stick to my job and wait for my monthly pay check & bonus. It’s easy to see the big picture but it didn’t end there. She explained to me that on this kind of business, it is realistic to an average person to create such an income worth hundreds of thousands of dollars or even more with an initial investment of less than a mortgage payment. I know all along it’s all about deposit payments, works, prospect clients, and all those “hey let’s meet for a cup of coffee and I have some proposals to make”. Those stuff.
Whatever that is, I asked her how much. She didn’t tell me the answer right away so she continued explaining and showed me the product & the company she’s working with thru her tiny Helwett laptop on a slideshow. It’s all about the products, business plans, the tools & the marketing strategies and planning which allow people to achieve extraordinary of financial success. She also gave me this chocolate product sample (tastes good) & a traveller size of toilettres. Such a thing to make me smile in a minute until of course it gets me a lot confused as we went on. I know when things are kind of new to you, things go wander in your mind, “can I just say NO and leave?”. She could have read my mind. I guess she did. Accordingly, she said that once I understand a little more about this business, I would feel obligated for myself to show people the potential of becoming involved with this company. I think it’s about confidence really. “Do I have these”? I asked myself. I’m not sure.
To make the story short, we sat and talked for an hour explaining things with me. I still need to know “What Do they really Do”? Well the bottom line is,
The key to success in this business is two-fold. First, your success depends on the number of people you can introduce our products and our business model to. Second, you will achieve success by helping those who decide to join you in business, also succeed by doing the same.
In short, Networking. So I will be in business for myself, not by myself. Team effort as you say. I will be attending trainings (another work I know) and will be receiving free personal hand-on training from the company. She gave me some brochure to read, to absorb what marketing is all about. Well it’s part of a self-improvement really so I made another date this Friday to see how much commission I will be getting. No not for now. I will be learning on how I’m gonna find my TWO HEAD downline costumer. You know, if you’re familiar, points accumulated in your right-side and left-side downline groups. Blah.
I hope this goal is achievable. In the first place, I have done this a long time ago so I’m already quite familiar although it didn’t give me the confidence to really do the job, I think this one looks promising.
Take a look at the product I’m talking about, right here. Now I can’t sleep.

health insurance agent……
hmm am bad at selling so dont include me at this network…
ok done w the johari thingie
most peeps wrote you are observant and witty
Nooooo, I hate that word Insurance Agent ;( It’s not even pyramiding but it’s kind of direct selling thing. Looks challenging, something to earn a good (I would hope so) extra income away from my boss, hehehe.
at the first glance it looked like pyramiding to me. so you are something like a sales rep, right? an acquaintance of mine is doing something similar except that his trying to sell espresso machines to german companies. as far as I know he’s making a good living.
anyway, I hope for you that it’s not a exploiter-scheme and that you can make lots of profit that’ll allow you do buy more stuff from armany x.
Hi D, thanks for the thoughts and opinions. I think it’s rewarding to those who can actually do it right. I’m not sure it’s not easy but… just want to try my skills. Although, I’m beginning to worry now since I don’t have much experience.
i’ve heard about this. my cousin was telling me about this and my friends as well. I can tell you one thing… no..don’t fall for this. This is dodgy. Definitely not a good in terms of long term investment. No no no no no no no no.
Btw…what’s Asha’s blog? She never told me her link and she read my blog. I gotta return the favor
Hi E, thanks for the concerns but maybe it’s easy to become frustrated or overwhelmed with all the work I have to do to get the business started, prolly would take several months, I don’t know yet. I’ll just keep my day job, do something on the side and see how things go.
BTW, Asha prefers not to be linked not that she hates it, I think we just have to respect that. She comes on a regular basis anyways, she loves visiting “nice” people like us so you’ll always see her around here & there, cheer up.
K, back in Manila( and even in HK), networking companies here and there tried to invite me and asked me to join in thier “pyramids”. I always say no. First, I don’t have the patience to sell. I also don’t have the marketing talk and that “glib of tongue”. I feel like I am asking them for a favor if they buy my product.
It really is up to you though. If you think realistically that you can sell and find 2 industrious, diligent, and good downline, maybe it will work.
All the best!
Princess D, yes I know. Would you believe it almost made me signed up on that Gold Quest offering gold coins? They launched it over here esp for Pinoys and it was a scam. A friend from Bicol flew over to give trainings, talks & shits but I was not impressed. He thinks money just grows in trees easily.
Thanks for the nice support. Maybe if you’re here, I’ll ask you to sign up, hahaha. Well I will be struggling since I’ll be starting on my own. Not definate yet, so I need to know more about the product.
i see i’m not the only one who’s a little concerned for you. i hope she doesn’t take advantage of you, cuz it sounds a lot like amway. but i do have a friend who makes a living, a very good living, selling amway.
Hi J, she also mentioned that Amway. It requires a lot of time to really succeed. I cannot say everyone does get a nice numbers in your wallet but you end up buying Amway products to accumulate points whatever that is probably end of the day, you’ll see yourself getting stuck using the same product. Maybe it’s the same thing as this one but what I see is the quality of their product & no more than 2 heads to recruit for your prospect downline.
And no, she won’t get advantage of me. Oh God, I hope not. Thanks, J.
hello, i thought the headline for this post looks familiar… that’s USANA - I joined them last year as I wanted to get discounts from the products. I think this is the 9th MLM I joined - the rest I was asked by friends to sign up and ended up with nothing; meaning I didn’t even get to sign up 1 as I would hate to bug friends about it; as I don’t like being harassed with so much talk about “financial freedom” and stuff.
This one I was asked again by an acquaintance, and as I wanted to try the products and get a good discount I joined. After they sign you up, it’s up to you to work it out how to “grow the business” as they say. So far I haven’t heard from my upline.
Although I must say that there are a lot of successful people out there doing this MLM/networking. I just don’t like the way they approach others whenever they talk of people with jobs and how they hard-sell the idea that having a job won’t give you that financial freedom. There are other ways of building a passive income and not just through MLM.
but if you’re keen, have a go! you may (or may not) like it.
She’s trying to “help” other people, one of her goals, she said. If people just think of it as you sign up but do nothing about it, or it’s like you have great dreams but never set your goals, you won’t achieved it. I hope I won’t end up just dreaming without really doing it.
I’ll give you an update later. Finger’s crossed.
[...] I went to meet my business consultant at the Cova in Pacific Place yesterday and we discussed about my interest in signing up with USANA - how things going to work, where to report for my training, commission per volume, capital investment & application forms to fill up as part of the business agreement. She even handed the forms for me to carefully read and understand the terms & conditions before signing these so-called Financial Freedom. [...]
