Photographs & memories

I was doing my housekeeping at my little pad today when I dug up some old pictures of me 16 years ago which were kept in a shoebox all these years. I was quite surprised that I have somewhat found it really funny as I recollect a few and reprise the subject in these photographs in my head.
I’ve sure as hell taken a lot of pictures during my FOB years in Hong Kong. I remember getting my first sort of hi-tech camera on my very first birthday here and it didn’t stop me from taking pictures even up to now.
Look at these, they are simply disturbingly disgustingly awful to the eye but it sure does bring up a lot (and a few to be forgotten) of fun memories.

Pictures taken during my very funny years between ‘89 to ‘95. My college photograph for my Nursing yearbook was such a loser. It was I think during the tease and spray years where Aqua-Net was so popular. See that big hair? It got tons of gel on and goes hard as rock. You actually put quite a bit of gel in your hair, and let it dry as much as possible then use a pretty hefty amount of the aquanet extra firm hold hairspray, all over. Once it’s ’set’ properly, it lasts for *days*, dig my share?
I’ve actually like my semi-shaved, shortish yipee kind of hair cut, it works for me. I couldn’t believe how good it was during those years although I don’t want them to remember. My first few friends back then has now left HK and wondered where they were now. All was left are the good old memories. As I re-arranged them I also found this very touching poem printed in a paper by a friend Leesha back in college.
Don’t You, RT?
By LeeshaDon’t you remember?
We felt so young then
Laughing at everything
Crying over nothing
Pouring out each other’s all
Striving hard to reach our goal
Building more despite our falls
So young….we felt then.
Don’t you know?I was so happy then..
Looking down in marvel
At things so trifling to tell
Working hard on inspiration
Things I’ve left so long, undone
Seeing matters in forms of fun
So happy, was I….then.Suddenly….
The skies grew dim
The stars turned pale
The sun went cold
From the cherished top
I’ve lost my hold
‘Tis all because of
A cruel word.Don’t you see?
I was hurt deeply
Seeing you in other’s company
Laughing the same way you did with me
Telling the secrets you said “for us only”
Hurt, I was….and hurt deeply.Don’t you realize?
I still love you
I dream of the dreams
We dreamt together
I wish for our friendship
to last forever
And though hopelessly apart
I LOVE YOU….I still do
Don’t YOU?

As Long As It’s You

oo so you should get in touch with her again and see how she’s doing.
the johari thing..hm..probably won’t work for me cause i don’t think they know me from my webblog lol :p
looking forward to our next chat in yahoo.
E, honestly, I’ve lost contact with her eversince I arrived here. The poem was folded neatly along with my old photos & school credentials. She probably got married with kids now.
Don’t worry about Johari, you know yourself better than anyone else. Sure let’s chat again.
ehh…I like that “semi-shaved, shortish yipee” haircut on you! it looks really good
yes…old photos…new photos…they preserve memories that last a lifetime!
hi C, you think so? mmmmm I’m thinking the same thing too, wait until summer. But wait… are you sure?
K I like your skinhead look. My gosh! in your college pic, you look so “totoy”
ahhh that poem is touching. Do you still think of her?
Princess D, and I was the tiniest in the batch, always be. College days weren’t that great - files & piles of books was all such a pain in the ass.
I don’t know where she is now. No contacts not even on snail mails. Could I say, I’ve forgotten what she looks like?
hmm darling
you can crash on my pad just dont bring the whole village innit but yr ipod will do we shall boggie
hmm touching poem….memories in a shoe box
S, aherm.. that’s an excellent idea. I can imagine myself in your pad, sitting at the terraza, sipping a glass of red, watching the blue sky in a seaview while you cook the food & Anggun playing in the background. Get the picture?
Hmm, me like the semi-shaved, almost bald look. Manly and good looking. That’s it.
Oh, and the poem… did you break her heart K?
Hi A, since most of you are in favor of having it “shaved” I’m going to really really hate all of you for telling me the truth. LOL, so Iet’s see how I’m gonna deal with it. Decisions, decisions.
I had no idea what happened there. I remember we had a little argument over this & that and dint occured to me that she was upset… hurt for that matter. She gave me this letter the day later& she looked very sad, I din’t asked & was shocked after I read the poem. We hadn’t spoken each other for some time until graduation then finally I flew to HK. We will always be friends anyways.
crew cut ala Wentworth Miller!
yup, why don’t you try a new cut…
Isay, toldya, I had the same-looking haircut with Miller. Not sure if I can have it, baka ma terminate sa work.
